Image
Gladiators, ready.

Amazon Prime Video’s American Gladiators reboot has found its Gladiators, whom The Hollywood Reporter can first reveal. The new season will feature 16 gladiators — eight women and eight men, ages 22 to 38 (and standing 5’5” to 6′ 5” tall, weighing between 140 and 270 pounds) — picked from across the country. The group includes bodybuilders, pro wrestlers, former Division I athletes, CrossFit champions and military veterans.

The series will be hosted by WWE Superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin. His sidekicks will be sideline reporter Rocsi Diaz, the former co-host of BET’s 106 & Park, THR has learned exclusively; sports commentator Chris Rose will be on play by play. Rose hosts NFL GameDay Final on NFL Network alongside Maurice Jones-Drew.

Beyond Gladiators, Diaz is a contributor at GMA and GMA3, as well as other ABC News programming. She currently co-hosts Tubi’s We Got Time Today with Deion Sanders. Rosci was a regular guest host...

Tubi Launches New Ad Capabilities, Including “Wrappers” For Movie Studio Marketers
Image
Tubi has launched a set of new ad products, including “Wrappers,” which lets movie studio marketers secure prime real estate on the streaming service’s home screen.

The Fox Corp. subsidiary made the announcements Tuesday at a NewFronts presentation to advertisers, which started with a rah-rah opening by Deion Sanders and Rocsi Diaz. Sanders, the University of Colorado football coach and NFL Hall of Famer, co-hosts Tubi’s weekly talk show We Got Time Today.

Sanders and Diaz, who emceed the NewFront, introduced Tubi CEO Anjali Sud. She told ad buyers in the audience that for the streaming service’s younger-skewing and more multi-cultural viewers, “ads are part of the experience.” They are not in the mix for Tubi “as a way of driving Arpu [average revenue per user] or upselling you to an ad-free tier.”

With Fox’s resources fortifying Tubi since the company acquired it in 2020, the free platform has grown to 97 million monthly active users.

Tubi Hits 97M Monthly Active Users As Fast Race Heats Up
Image
Tubi, Fox’s free, advertising-supported streaming platform, has surpassed 97 million monthly active users.

That’s a jump from more than 78 million MAUs posted in mid-2024. The streaming platform, which launched in 2014, on Monday said it streamed over 10 billion streaming hours in calendar 2024.

The latest growth spurt at Tubi comes as it fends off competition in the Fast space from top rivals like Pluto TV and Roku Channel and the service has expanded its own content offerings to more than 275,000 library movies and TV episodes and over 300 Tubi Originals.

For comparison, Samsung TV Plus said in October that its Fast service now has 88 million monthly active users. The same month, Roku said the number of streaming households using its service reached 85.5 million, an increase of 2 million from the prior quarter.

The Tubi originals lineup includes the western thriller The Thicket, starring Peter Dinklage and Juliette Lewis, the workplace comedy The Z-Suite,...

Deion Sanders Says Tubi Talk Show Is a Way for Him to Recruit New Fans – and Football Prospects
Image
Deion Sanders thinks his new Tubi talk series “We Got Time Today” provides him with an audience from which he can “recruit” fans — and perhaps potential football prospects.

“It puts me in front of another whole audience to not only inform and enlighten and encourage and motivate, but to recruit, really go out to recruit,” Sanders, who also serves as the head coach for the Colorado Buffaloes at the University of Colorado, told TheWrap. “I really can’t, because coaches hate … If I go visit this guy down the street and they go to the school around the corner, now they hating on me. But now I have this platform, so I can get your mama, your grandma, your grandfather, you know, Rocsi [Diaz’s] people. I can get everybody.”

“But I’m just sitting up there talking, just being authentic,” he continued. “So it’s another mechanism that you...
