Exclusive: Vietnam’s highest-grossing film of 2025 to date, The 4 Rascals (Bo Tu Bao Thu), has been set for theatrical release in 12 markets including North America, the UK and Germany beginning March 14. This is the latest in a string of local hits to be released internationally by savvy specialty distributor 3388 Films.
It’s also the latest film from director Tran Thanh to top Vietnamese box office charts. When it released locally on January 29, The 4 Rascals crossed the 100B Vnd ($4M) threshold within three days – the fastest ever to the mark. By day 12, the movie exceeded 300B Vnd ($12M), giving the filmmaker his 4th title in the Top 5 highest-grossing movies of all time in Vietnam.
Tran Thanh is also the only director to ever have a film cross 300B Vnd at the Vietnam box office, a feat he has achieved with each of his titles.
