Frank Dillane played Nick in the spinoff Fear The Walking Dead for four seasons. A prequel in the Walking Dead universe, the show followed the same successful formula as The Walking Dead, in which an ensemble cast had to make it through the apocalypse. The characters in Fear The Walking Dead are mostly new, and the show stars with high school teacher Madison Clark and her family as they attempt to survive the zombie apocalypse. Madison's son, former drug addict Nick, was quickly established as a character to watch as he adapted to the apocalypse.
Nick's death in season 4 came as a shock to viewers. Nick, played by Frank Dillane, went from a troubled and rebellious teen to a competent but flawed survivor who dedicated his life to gardening, and his storyline appeared set to continue, with Nick learning from Morgan. Being with the band is in of itself a cliche yet it remains this weirdly intriguing fantasy that transitions from generation to generation. It’s a topic that dominates the narrative themes and structures of “Viena and The Fantomes.” Set in a world of pure punk rock fantasy, this all too common tale of the young roadie suddenly spirals outside of the usual safe boundaries.
The stark visual cues and entrancingly bold moments are just one of the ways writer/director Gerardo Naranjo brings the story to life.

"We have to behave like a band!" Universal has released an official trailer for an indie music drama titled Viena and the Fantomes, another film from Mexican filmmaker Gerardo Naranjo (he also has Kokoloko this year). Dakota Fanning stars as the titular Viena, a young roadie who's on a journey of self-discovery and shocking survival, as she travels across America with a post-punk band called The Fantomes during the 1980s. She ends up trapped in a dangerous love triangle between a good natured roadie and an unbalanced band member. The film's cast includes Jeremy Allen White, Frank Dillane, Olivia Luccardi, Sarah Steele, Philip Ettinger, and Ryan Leboeuf, plus Caleb Landry Jones, Zoë Kravitz, Evan Rachel Wood, and Jon Bernthal. Looks like this could be good, it's packed with plenty of post-punk melodrama. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Gerardo Naranjo's Viena and the Fantomes, from YouTube: Viena, a beautiful, young roadie,...

Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Robert Pattinson will play the Dark Knight in the upcoming Warner Bros. film. Reeves and Mattson Tomlin wrote the screenplay, and the film is being produced by Dylan Clark and Reeves. Michael E. Uslan is executive producing. It is set to start filming in January in the U.K.
Reeves took over the directing gig after Ben Affleck stepped away from the role. Affleck was also expected to play Batman again but then said he would be hanging up the cape for good. Reeves has since described the film as a “defining” and “very personal” story about the Dark Knight, rather than an origin story in the vein of Frank Miller’s beloved “Year One” series.

Four features under his belt (2004’s Malachance, 2006’s Drama/Mex, 2008’s I’m Gonna Explode and 2011’s Miss Bala) and Gerardo Naranjo‘s only history with the Sundance film festival is as a jury member. That might change come next January. One that I consider the odd man out among filmmakers from the Mexican film renaissance that commenced back with Iñárritu’s Amores Perros, from lovers on the run, beauty queens on the move and young adults hitting the road, there is a lot of chaotic displacement in his films. Since his sophomore feature, his films are high value festival items and since this is a U.S. shot project, Viena and the Fantomes could very much land a coveted Premieres category showing to make bidders. Naranjo’s Un Certain Regard section selected thriller Miss Bala seriously made the rounds, so this eighties punk era set film has a certain...

Drumline: A New Beat
VH1 has greenlit "Drumline: A New Beat," a telemovie follow-up to the Nick Cannon-led 2002 hit feature "Drumline" which aims to debut in the Fall. Cannon himself is returning as executive producer and will have an onscreen role.
The story will focus on a new set of characters at a fictional New Orleans university, most notably an upper-class Brooklyn girl who defies her parents in order to attend a college in Louisiana so she can revitalize their once-prominent drumline. [Source: The Live Feed]
The Killing
Sterling Beaumon ("Red Widow"), Levi Meaden ("The 100") and Tyler Ross ("Zombieland: The Series") have joined the crime drama "The Killing" for its upcoming fourth and final season exclusively on Netflix.
The new mystery revolves around an all-boys military academy located outside of Seattle with all three playing students. Beaumon's role is a troubled misogynist, Meaden a charismatic overachiever, and Ross a kind but battered outcast.
