Shari Franke, who is portrayed in the film and the oldest child of Ruby and Kevin, did not know this film was being made and had an anxiety attack after suddenly seeing the trailer. A now-deleted YouTube comment on the trailer from her says, "This is shameful. This movie should not be supported, let alone released."

Goofs
For dramatic purposes, Shari openly disapproves Ruby's parenting methods in the film. In reality, she was silent about her disapproval until Ruby's arrest.

Trying to portray Ruby Franke as a victim? Really?

If you're familiar with the case, don't waste your time. This movie will make you angry. It portrays Ruby Franke as a victim of Jodi Hildabrant and try's to evoke the sympathy of the audience for her at times. These women are both monsters and the movie neglects to emphasize the amount of abuse that was inflicted on the children, leaving SO MUCH about the abuse that they had to endure at the hands of their own mother and her disgusting friend. It fails to include the most significant journal entries that Ruby wrote, ones that show how disgusted she was by her children and show her full motives for the abuse. I was so angry about how Ruby was portrayed. The emphasis was way to much on Hildabrant, perhaps so Heather Locklear could get more screen time. Save yourself some energy and time. Skip this farce of a movie.
