5 best 2024 fantasy dramas to rewatch right away! (Photo Credit – Netflix)
Watching a K-drama, be it an action-thriller, horror, or a rom-com, is like an addiction. We start with a motto ‘just one more episode’ but end up watching the whole series in one go. Among all the genres, my favorite one is fantasy drama that incorporates other worlds, superpowers, time travel, soul shifting, and so on. 2025 has already dropped a lineup of fantasy dramas like Newtopia, The Tyrant Chef, Gyeonwoo and the Fairy, and more.
However, before you step on the new list of K-dramas, we have listed 5 great fantasy dramas from My Demon, Lovely Runner, The Judge from Hell, and more from 2024 for you to binge-watch if you haven’t. And well, if you have already watched them last year, what’s in it to rewatch them again? So, scroll ahead to read more.

2024 started off immediately with some of the best K-dramas dropping at the beginning of the year. There were action-packed, supernatural, and definitely some romantic comedies setting the tone for how the year would look. With more and more K-dramas coming to Netflix, Disney+/Hulu and Amazon Prime, there are an endless number of K-dramas to watch with all your favorite stars who have shown year after year that they have what it takes to deliver the right performances to stir the masses. Gyeongseong Creature came back with their new season, and it was just as good as the first. Park Shin-hye starred in Doctor Slump and The Judge From Hell this year-- both were worth a rewatch.

In a year where the K-drama industry is booming, the largest trend that’s taking over is creating “universes,” like Marvel. It is quite a shame that the genre, which was known for compelling storytelling that viewers related to, has suddenly chosen to look to the West for inspiration. On the other hand, there’s the obsession with webcomics being adapted for our screens, which is, of course, super exciting, but what happens to the original stuff? Don’t get me wrong; each of these approaches has churned out some gems, but it occasionally feels like something’s been lost. I will admit I found my love for K-dramas again this year. I can’t believe it’s been a decade since I started watching K-dramas, and over the years I used to consume everything thrown at me blindly. But, a few years ago, I realized I was exhausting myself instead of enjoying this pastime.

The world of K-Dramas is like a never-ending buffet of binge-worthy goodness. Between the much-anticipated Squid Game Season 2 and fresh hits like The Judge from Hell, keeping track of whats worth watching can feel overwhelming. The best part about K-Dramas is that, despite the word drama in the genre, its also home to a bunch of comedy titles worth spending the entire day watching.

The popular K-drama The Judge from Hell, streaming on Disney+, left audiences on edge with its thrilling supernatural themes and intense character arcs. The series, directed by Park Jin-pyo, follows protagonist Kang Bit-na (played by Park Shin-hye) as she transitions from a ruthless judge to a supernatural being entangled in hellish dealings. With the dramatic finale and unresolved questions, fans are eagerly awaiting news about a potential The Judge from Hell Season 2.
What is The Judge from Hell About?
Set in a supernatural realm between life and death, The Judge from Hell centers on Judge Kang Bit-na, who finds herself bargaining with demons to protect her love, Han Daon (Kim Jae-yeong). In the finale, she sends a notorious serial killer to Hell and bargains with Bael (Shin Sung-rok) for more time on earth. The season ends with Lucifer presenting her a proposition: to kill ten sinners within a year to...

I’m not sure why the makers of The Judge From Hell decided to go with 14 episodes instead of 12, which is the trendy thing to do in K-dramas today. Having said that, I feel like having 14 episodes scuppers this show a little bit, and the last episode, though not rushed, feels somehow incomplete, as if something else is coming for us, but it’s not. The Judge From Hell’s ending is somewhat satisfying, but there are some questions that remain even with the end credits rolling in. I’m going to try and answer those questions in an attempt to give us some sort of closure from this show. But still, I really enjoyed the show, specifically because of this new version of Park Shine-Hye as an action heroine because she absolutely killed it (just as I expected). Episode 13 focuses on Jang Tae-Gyu’s trials, and the 14th episode...

The Judge From Hell episodes 11 & 12 finally reveal the true identity of J, and it’s great to know that some of our theories have been right all along. We also see Bit-Na and Da-On getting closer in these episodes. Finally, we get the backstory of the whole Satan situation. Episode 11 begins with Bit-Na killing the demon sent by Bael and then losing all her powers because Bael knows she’s fallen in love with a person and even killed a fellow demon to save him. Bit-Na asks him to kill her, but he says he’d rather kill Da-On than her because that would make her miserable. Bit-Na’s ready to use her knife on Bael at that point, but he takes away her powers to atone as a mere human before a big punishment.

Since we’re getting closer to the end of The Judge From Hell, we finally get a new structure to the episodes. Until now, each episode focused on a case, and we saw Kang Bit-Na treat each criminal the way they treated their victims to make them confess their crimes and send them to hell. In episodes 9 & 10, we focus on serial killer J and Bit-Na’s plan to kill him. In these episodes, we learn a little bit more about the landlady of the villa and why she’s such a devout churchgoer. Additionally, Bael sends somebody else to mess with Bit-Na after learning that there’s a human interfering with her “evilness.” These two episodes were definitely fun, and the fight sequence at the end of episode 10 was really exciting, reminding us that this is not a melodrama but a fantasy thriller. I guess at the end of the...

Episodes 7 & 8 of The Judge From Hell focus on a more personalized story for Da-On and Bit-Na. Sure, there is a new case at hand, but we get some more information about the man who killed Da-On’s parents and how he became a part of Detective Kim So-Young’s family. This whole time Da-On has tried to be a moral compass for Bit-Na, but some new changes in the latest two episodes might have had him change his outlook completely. I suppose one could say Bit-Na, or rather Justitia, is a bad influence on Da-On, but the same could be said the other way around. Let me explain in just a bit. Without any further ado, let’s get into the latest two episodes of The Judge From Hell.

The Judge From Hell just gets more fun as the episodes pass. I know we’re still on the 4th episode, but Park Shin-Hye shines through in this fun morally gray role, which is the exact kind of thing that’s been missing in the K-drama circuits lately. We love a strong female character, but what’s so special about Bit-Na, or rather Justitia, is the fact that she’s got many sides to her and doesn’t feel two-dimensional at all. I’m really excited to see how this turns out later, because there are a lot of complications when a demon is involved. Episodes 3 and 4 of The Judge From Hell follow a new case, and this time a child is involved. Will Bit-Na be able to save the kid? How will she punish the evil stepmom? Let’s find out in this recap.

Sbs’s new series The Judge From Hell takes viewers on a distinctive supernatural journey. At its center is Judge Kang Bit-na, played compellingly by Park Shin-hye. The show introduces Bit-na in a shocking way, declaring to doctors that she is actually a demon who has taken over the judge’s body.
It’s soon revealed this came about due to a mistake that led to Bit-na’s soul ending up in Hell after her death. As punishment, the demon judge Justitia is inhabiting Bit-na and given a dark mission: to kill 10 unrepentant murderers on Earth within a year or face death herself. Partnered with this driven yet mischievous demon is Detective Han Da-on, played with charm and integrity by Kim Jae-young. Their developing relationship adds intrigue to how justice will be carried out.
Beyond its captivating leads, The Judge From Hell entices viewers with its richly imagined version of Hell.
