POWERFUL MIX OF ALTERNATE HISTORY & SCIFI

"Milestone" is a remarkable faux documentary that puts a bold and riveting new spin on the race riots of the Los Angeles area in the late '60s, imagining what if an alien leader arrived proposing a path to peace.

Can the people of this small Los Angeles suburb bridge the divide? Or are they too entrenched in their views to come together?

Writer-director Andre Coleman draws strong performances in the interview segments, nails the special effects, and has a script that will draw you in completely. His use of "historic" footage and photos is superb.

This is one hell of a good watch! "Milestone" will fascinate any viewer looking for a fresh, complez tale.

Excellent Storyline

The storyline was excellent!! A great mix of historical drama and science-fiction. The film is extremely relevant as to what is going on in our country today, given the current climate. What would our society do if placed in such a dilema? What would become of us? Imagine, if our current leader was left to govern such a decision. How would one fair? What side would you be on?

I would love to see this storyline with a greater budget, for special effects, better production, and perhaps more experienced actors!! If this is what was accomplished with a bare-bones budget, imagine the possibilities.....

Great Watch!

Milestone is a great fictional film that parallel's mid 20th century American history. That's not all! The film has an imaginative sci-fi twist that is unexpected! I loved the details and documentary approach that was embedded within the storyline. The film is educational yet entertaining. There are a variety of characters with various points of view. The story is rich and can be used as a teaching tool for students of various ages! The different characters seem to represent many types of individuals where it is easy to see one's self. The film is thought provoking and would undoubtedly foster deep discussion.

Brilliant!!! Cinema Language at it's best!!!

This one hour and 29 minute movie is nothing short of a brilliant masterpiece! Yes, I said it! Brilliant! Well written, well thought-out, from the use of old civil rights super 8 footage, sound bites, clips, narration by Bruce Williams, and music to match up with the perfect lighting and wardrobe reflective of the year(s) being portrayed through the timeline of events. Civil Rights at the heart of the conversations and storyline, being portrayed through a time and place, called Morningside. This city is a microcosm of the black experience.

Milestone draws you in, keeps you interested with its cinematography, sound and production elements. The old clips and wardrobe are reflective of this time travel as it lapses with old footage which became part of the storytelling. The use of cinema language captivates the audience with the underline theme, "what if all we had to do was come together", as you think of where you stand on "conformity, unity, or equality." It's a film that isn't heavy but makes us all think about where we stand or do we understand racism; and that maybe there could be a cure. More importantly, Milestone depicts that it is critical to understand the black experience in America.

A MUST SEE!

MILESTONE CONTAINS A LEVEL OF ENTERTAINMENT THAT IS RARELY SEEN ON TODAYS BIG SCREENS. THE WRITER BROUGHT IT 100%, WITH A HIGH LEVEL OF WRITING AND IMAGINATIVE HIGH LEVEL STORY AND CHARACTERS. CAN I GIVE IT 20 STARS? TODAYS ENTERTAINMENT OFTEN CONTAINS RACIAL TOPICS, BUT IVE NEVER SEEN A COMBINATION OF RACISM, IN ADDITION TO THE QUESTION, "ARE WE ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE? I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT THIS FILM BE SHOWN ON MULTIPLE PLATFORMS, SO THAT IT CAN BE NOMINATED FOR THE MULTIPLE AWARDS I AM SURE IT WILL RECEIVE. TODAYS FILM INDUSTRY IS ALL OVER THE TOPIC OF RACISM AS IT SHOULD BE. AMENNNNN.

Sci-Fi Meets Social Critique

In a concept I haven't seen before, American social injustice comes face-to-face with extraterrestrial life. As a viewer, I see the resolution the protagonists can and should ideally strive for, while recognizing the hard truth of how power instead seeks to maintain itself and only itself. I found myself rooting for, applauding, mourning, and raging against various characters.

Through its found footage docudrama construct, Milestone is able to explore so many aspects of society almost seamlessly. Testimonials juxtaposed with old footage build a world impacted by a historic event, forever changed but never healed.
