Lynley Release Date, Time, & Where To Watch

The BBC One series Lynley will debut on September 4, 2025. Based on the Inspector Lynley novels by Elizabeth George, the series will see Leo Suter as Di Thomas Lynley, the Earl of Ashton, who is assigned to Scotland Yard. The trailers indicate a clash of class and cultures between Lynley and his partner, DS Barbara Havers, who is played by Sofia Barclay.

Deadline reported that the BBC had bought the BritBox Original back in 2024. The show is produced by All Creatures Great and Small’s production studio, Playground Entertainment. The series was picked up by the BBC after it was filmed. The show will reportedly tackle a missing persons case investigated by Lynley and Barbara.

15 BritBox Series Are Now Streaming On HBO Max For A Limited Time

HBO Max subscribers will have free access to a great selection of British mystery, comedy, and drama titles for two months in a new deal with BritBox. In the US, Canada, Australia, and the Nordics, BritBox is the streaming home of the BBC's and ITV's best productions, including global hits such as Idris Elba's Luther and cozy crime sensation Father Brown.

As reported by Variety, starting today, August 1, until September 29,HBO Max subscribers in the US will have access to 15 carefully curated BritBox titles. There will be no additional cost to view these shows; users will find them in a dedicated section of the app titled "The Best of British TV by BritBox."

The available titles include the original UK version of The Office, a selection of Agatha Christie miniseries, and the 28-season-and-counting forensic crime drama Silent Witness. Check out the full list below:

BritBox, the lead commissioner of the new Original series Lynley, today debuted the official trailer and announced the September 4 premiere date for the four-episode crime drama. Lynley will premiere exclusively on the service in the U.S. and Canada, with episodes released weekly.

Tommy Lynley is a brilliant police detective but an outsider in the force, simply by virtue of his aristocratic upbringing. He is paired with Barbara Havers, a sergeant with a maverick attitude and a working-class background.

Titled Lynley, the BBC One adaptation was announced last year, with filming having begun in Ireland in August 2024. Almost a year later, we have an official release date, courtesy of the compelling trailer from BritBox, which teases the new Tommy Lynley as well as hisill-matched partner, Barbara Havers.

Similar to The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, which ran from March 12, 2001, to June 1, 2008, and starred Nathaniel Parker and Sharon Small, Lynley is based on the Elizabeth GeorgeInspector Lynley bestsellingnovels. The Inspector Lynley Mysteries are being adapted into a new television series for Britbox, Leo Suter will star.

A new adaptation of the mystery series Inspector Lynley, is now in the works for streaming service Britbox, and is reportedly called Lynley. Vikings: Valhalla star Leo Suter will play Lynley, alongside Ted Lasso star Sofia Barclay as Havers. The new version will tackle “issues around personality, gender and class”.

Sherlock writer Steve Thompson penned the series, with Ed Bazalgette directing. George will be an executive producer. Deals have not been finalized but it looks as though the show will be acquired by the BBC in the UK.

According to Deadline, production on the four 90-minute episodes will begin in Ireland soon, and the series will premiere in 2025.
