Patton Oswalt is toplining and starring alongside writer-director James Morosini in I Love My Dad, a dramatic comedy that just wrapped principal photography in Syracuse, NY. Claudia Sulewski, Rachel Dratch, Ricky Velez also star along with Lil Rel Howery and Amy Landecker.
Inspired by Morosini’s real-life experiences, the pic follows Chuck (Oswalt), an estranged father who desperately wants to reconnect with his depressive son, Franklin (Morosini). Blocked on social media and concerned for his son’s life, Chuck impersonates a waitress (Sulewski) online and starts checking in with Franklin. But things begin to spiral when Franklin falls for this imaginary girl and wants nothing more than to meet her in person.
Bill Stertz and Sean King O’Grady produce for Atlas Industries alongside Dane Eckerle, Daniel Brandt and Burn Later Productions’ Phil Keefe and Sam Slater. Lauren Hantz and John Hantz are executive producers via their Hantz Motion Pictures, which fully financed.

Dawn Richard, Second Line
R&b artist Dawn Richard has taken a winding path through her nearly 20-year career. Now, she finds herself on the North Carolina indie-rock label Merge with her sixth LP, Second Line. After teasing the song back in April, Eric Church has finally released “Through My Ray-Bans,” a heartfelt number dedicated to survivors and victims of the 2017 Route 91 Harvest festival shooting in Las Vegas. Unlike his song “Why Not Me,” which wrestled with immediate survivor’s guilt of having played that same stage, Church’s latest is a defiant tribute to resilience and community that feels even more powerful in the midst of a pandemic when live shows are mostly nonexistent.

The initial performance lineup for November’s CMA Awards telecast includes Gabby Barrett and Charlie Puth doing a live duet of her crossover hit “I Hope,” presumably for the first time in the same room, since Puth put together the pop radio remix that features his voice after the pandemic began.
But “in the same room” is the operative term and selling point for this year’s CMAs, with producers revealing Thursday morning that this year’s show on ABC would “bring country music’s biggest stars together safely, in one room, for the first time this year.” That emphasis is meant to distinguish the Country Music Association’s telecast from the glut of other recent country awards shows. The long-delayed ACM Awards in September offered a mixture of live and mostly pre-recorded performances from three different Nashville locales, and this month’s CMT Music Awards followed a similarly spread-out,...

Eric Church depicts the thrill of a life on the move with the one you love in “Hell of a View,” a tender mid-tempo ballad with shades of his hit “Springsteen.” It’s Church’s latest release from an upcoming project, the follow-up to 2018’s Desperate Man.
Penned by Church with Casey Beathard and Monty Criswell, “Hell of a View” takes a romantic look at a road-less-traveled relationship and the “reckless” existence that necessitated it. “You liked the thought of chasin’ life instead of dollar bills,” Church sings. “We’re livin’ reckless,...

Welcome back to Jurassic World. Universal Pictures, in something of a surprise release, has revealed the first episode of a new motion comic series that will serve as a prequel to the events of Jurassic World 3. Titled A Rising Tide, this is a canon story that will help to fill in the gaps between what happened after Fallen Kingdom leading up to the finale of the trilogy, which hits theaters in 2021.
This first episode focuses on the events teased at the very end of 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Specifically, the shot of the mosasaur getting ready to make a surfer's day into a nightmare. Without spoiling it, the mosasaur isn't done just yet. The episode kicks off with a reporter named Rebeca Ryan covering the events that unfolded. Universal released this brief synopsis for A Rising Tide.
"It's a new world as humans and dinosaurs are forced to coexist.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?
That’s the question that will soon be posed by Paramount and Gary Dauberman, the screenwriter who recently helped conjure up a bona fide horror hit in It – to date, New Line’s adaptation has amassed $683 million at the global box office, while there’s also plans in place for Chapter Two in 2019.
In terms of Are You Afraid of the Dark, though, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Paramount and Dauberman have now drafted up plans for an overly faithful adaptation of the cult Nickelodeon series, which originally spanned five seasons throughout the ’90s. It’ll also hone in on the show’s “scarier, darker” elements, too, as Gary Dauberman told THR:
The show is about the shared experience of telling stories — especially scary ones. We’re going to celebrate that with this movie and honor the darker, scarier tone of the show,...

The supposed rivalry between Marvel and DC isn’t one Kevin Feige buys into.
Currently in the midst of Thor: Ragnarok‘s globetrotting press tour, the McU architect recently spoke to Crave Online about the God of Thunder, Avengers: Infinity War, and what the future holds for Marvel’s shared universe, which has been printing money since the release of Iron Man back in 2008.
But when Crave asked Feige about the competition from Warner Bros., and the online vitriol it tends to provoke, the Marvel boss outright dismissed said rivalry as “ridiculous” and contrived. Drawing a line between the two comic book giants doesn’t benefit anyone, as Kevin Feige so rightly puts, and there’s no reason why ardent Marvel fans can’t go out and support Wonder Woman and Justice League – and vice versa.
I think it’s ridiculous. I think movies are awesome and people should go out and support awesome movies,...

A rising tide lifts all boats, as they say, and bitcoin’s latest monster run has propelled all cryptocurrencies to surpass the combined market cap of financial titans Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. Bitcoin — the dominant digital currency on the market — zoomed to record highs above $7,300 early on Thursday, growing its market cap to about $120 billion. Added together with other popular cryptos like ethereum and litecoin, the budding industry now has an aggregate market cap (coin price multiplied by the amount in circulation) greater than the $186.2 billion added together between Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, according...

The excitement for Thor: Ragnarok is palpable.
After ruling over social media rankings for months, Taika Waititi’s cosmic threequel was officially named as 2017’s most-anticipated fall movie earlier this week, beating the likes of Justice League and Blade Runner 2049 to the #1 spot. It’s a relatively minor coup in the grand scheme of things, given Fandango’s survey only polled 1,000 film fans, but it does set the stage for an interesting tussle between Ragnarok and Justice League – between Marvel and DC – ahead of November. A rising tide raises all boats, or something to that effect.
Regardless, it is Thor: Ragnarok that will be arriving first (November 3rd), and now that Marvel has lifted the embargo on all those many set visits, Screen Rant is bringing us some juicy new details on Hela. Brought to life by Cate Blanchett, there’s a great deal of excitement swirling around the character,...

The phrase ‘A rising tide lifts all boats’ has become something of a mantra for those involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – most notably Kevin Feige – whenever the question of rival superhero film franchises crops up. While it’s almost certainly proven to be true in terms of box office receipts, the influence of one on another – be it Fox’s X-Men or Warner Bros’ Dceu – had never really been explicitly referenced, until X-Men: Dark Phoenix appeared on the horizon.
Heading for theatres on November 2nd, 2018, Dark Phoenix is indeed a prime candidate for expanding the X-Men universe into the cosmos. That’s because the focus of the film will be Jean Grey and the Phoenix Force – which, in the source material, hails from outer space – and X-Men franchise architect Bryan Singer has previously suggested that the specific success of Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy indicates that the stories...

Natural disasters have a way of bringing out both the best and the worst in people. Recent weather-related catastrophes such as Hurricane Katrina, tornados in the Midwest, and the recent flooding in the South all test the limits of human endurance both emotionally and physically. The new film A Rising Tide examines the after-effects of Hurricane Sandy on one family and those they’re involved with as they try to rebuild and restart their lives.
Essentially a love story set against the backdrop of a family’s attempts to start over, A Rising Tide shows that the pursuit of the dollar is not the only criteria...

With my first Siff now in the books, I can say that I’ve learned some valuable lessons. The first being what a remarkable festival and diverse program the organizers came up with for the 41st edition. From the venues to the volunteers, everything was top notch. Like most festivals, it was a bit front-loaded with premieres, but there were also notable premieres later in the program, including Max Landis’ Me Him Her on the closing weekend. From top to bottom, this was a great line-up with very few thin spots.
The other major lesson I learned is that it’s impossible to adequately cover a film festival in the city in which you live. Family, friends, and full-time jobs don’t simply disappear just because you want to have some fun. I come away feeling disappointed that time constraints kept me from seeing a lot of great films, as...
