Giulio Base, screenwriter and director of the film, has a degree in theology.
In the film there is a description of the twelve apostles never seen before, for example: one of them is a blind actor, another is a lame actor, another is a black actor.
The soundtrack for the movie is all recorded live by the actor playing the apostle Matthias, who in fact is also a musician and composer.
Because the film is all designed as if it were a Judas point of view, it is shot entirely with a hand-held camera and with only one lens: the 32 mm, which is the closest to the spectrum of the human gaze.
The entire film is shot only with natural light, no technical equipment for artificial lighting was ever used, including the shots taken at night: done only with lanterns, bonfires, and candles.
