The Girl on the Milk Carton

Very hard to watch this with such loud background "music" and weird screeching/violins. Shame as this could have been decent, but it made watching it so difficult. It was all so unnecessary.

Of course there is some "podcaster" giving their view although to be fair they have a link to the killer.

Interviews are ok and made slightly "dramatic" but can live with that. I think oxygen have made some good documentaries around missing people and unsolved crimes. They should stick to that but just one plea. Please avoid awful background music and noises. It makes it so difficult to even hear what people are saying.

I have viewed hundreds of true crime/cold case shows. The Girl on the Milk Carton isn't the worst of the lot but it makes many of the same mistakes as its predecessors. Screeching and moaning sounds and creepy "music," sometimes so loud you can't make out the dialogue. The producers of these shows must think this noise is part of their job description. Some of the vehicles are not from the period. I like a narrator with a good voice (think Bill Kurtis or Peter Thomas), which The Girl on the Milk Carton lacked. The reenactments looked a little cheesy but they usually do. I liked the clip of President Reagan and they way the perpetrators wife sort of worked backwards to the solution. Also this could have been accomplished in 60 minutes instead of stretching it to 2 hours.

This is pretty awful, the case is poorly explained and didn't convince me of anyone's guilt in it, heroic and poignant music doesn't convince anyone without substance to it. Fully expect to see this case in the news years from now with a better explanation of what happened.

Lately the crime documentaries getting put to tv seem to be all for shock value and not at all about explaining a competent criminal case. It's clear to see when watching that many involved only wanted the case to go away and didn't seriously look into it.

It all could have been told in a half hour and isn't at all convincing in the slightest.
