Exquisite!

This is an exquisite production and I am grateful to the Paris Opera Ballet for creating it! I saw it on an IMax screen and it was a blissful experience. The dancing was truly beautiful, outstandingly performed, and technically perfect. The costumes were amazing, so detailed and fine, and yet understated so they did not overpower the dancing. I have never had the experience of seeing such incredible dancing so up close and personal! Usually I am up in the gallery with binoculars. Although I could not easily find the choreographer in the credits, I believe it is the choreography of Rudolph Nureyev, since he is credited on the Paris Opera Ballet website. The phraseology of the movement was so perfectly aligned with Tchaikovsky's powerful score, it was truly delightful to watch. Often with ballet choreography they do each movement three times and you might get bored by the third time, but with this ballet I wanted to see them perform each movement phrase again and again. Sae Eun Park danced both the white and black swans with consummate grace and dramatic excellence, but she was especially captivating as the black swan with a flirtatious and beguiling charm that caught my heart. Paul Marque was exceptionally beautiful and engaging as Prince Seigfried. I could almost see Nureyev's ghost in him. Okay, I have run out of superlatives so I will stop now. The experience of this ballet on an IMAX screen should not be missed by any lover of dance.
