Exclusive: UK co-production outfit Big Safari Productions and financier Creativity Capital have appointed former Odin’s Eye Entertainment exec Tianna Roberts as Acquisitions and Co-Productions Manager at Big Safari and Acquisitions Manager at Creativity Capital.

Roberts worked for almost five years at Odin’s Eye, latterly as Head Of Development and Co-Director of Acquisitions. In her new role she will leverage her background in international development, distribution, and acquisitions to boost global co-production and financing opportunities, particularly Big Safari’s growth into Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Based between London and Australia, she will also help identify projects for investment and financing at Creativity Capital.

There are so many unique sub-genres to horror, with one of the more popular being the zombie variety. The most beloved zombie franchise of all-time has been George A. Romeros Living Dead series, which started with 1968s Night of the Living Dead. The genre filmmaker changed the undead game forever and, despite his death in 2017, the brand has been kept alive in a few fun ways. Romeros daughter, Tina Romero, is the latest director to honor her fathers legacy with the upcoming film Queens of the Dead. Now horror fans have received their first image of the film thatll make our zombie-loving hearts feel right at home.

The first image from Queens of the Dead has been unveiled. The upcoming zombie comedy is the debut feature from Tina Romero, the daughter of legendary horror director George A. Romero, who shaped the modern zombie genre with movies such as 1968's Night of the Living Dead and 1978's Dawn of the Dead. Set during a zombie outbreak at a drag show in Brooklyn, the new movie - which Romero co-wrote with Erin Judge - features a robust ensemble cast that includes Riki Lindhome, Eve Lindley, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Dominique Jackson, Shaunette Rene Wilson, Cheyenne Jackson, and Margaret Cho.

Deadline recently shared the first image from Queens of the Dead. It reveals quite a few members of the cast in costume, reacting with horror to something that they are looking at. Back in 1968, George A. Romero made his feature directorial debut with one of the greatest horror movies ever made, Night of the Living Dead – and while doing so, he also introduced the world to flesh-eating ghouls that became a new definition for the world “zombie.” Romero, who passed away in 2017, went on to make several more zombie movies over the decades… and recently, his daughter Tina Romero revealed that she’s making her own feature directorial debut with a zombie movie called Queens of the Dead. Daughter of late director George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead), Tina Romero is making her own mark on the zombie genre with Queens of the Dead, and Deadline shares a first look image this week. Deadline also notes, “Charades has acquired international sales rights.”

Being directed by Tina Romero, the upcoming Queens of the Dead is said to pay tribute to George A. Romero’s brand of zombie cinema with a “fresh, contemporary, and queer twist.”

Exclusive: Charades has acquired international sales rights to glam gore zombie comedy Queens of the Dead by Tina Romero, daughter of legendary director George A. Romero, ahead of the AFM.

Nina West can thank a phone call from friend Zelda Williams for her biggest acting opportunity to date.

“Zelda Williams calls. ‘My friend has you on their vision board for this movie. Would you be Ok if I introduced you?’” recalls West, the drag queen who is also known as Andrew Levitt.

Their mutual friend was Tina Romero, a filmmaker and daughter of late zombie maestro George A. Romero, the revered Night of the Living Dead director.

The younger Romero wrote West a note, recalling how before her father’s death in 2017, she received his blessing on her own project, a movie called Queens of the Dead.
