Synopsis

  • In a retro-futuristic, tropical-punk twist on Dante's Inferno, a group of misfits converges at Babel, a legendary dive bar that doubles as purgatory, where La Flaca-the sassiest Grim Reaper in Latin America-presides. Here, souls gamble years of their lives with her, daring to outwit death itself.

Dante, a soul in limbo whose contract with La Flaca ends tonight, begins to recover fragmented memories of his past. Haunted by the mystery of what he traded for 20 years of servitude, he races against time to confront the deal he struck with Death personified. As he unravels the secrets of his past, he finds himself helping Monet, a ghost desperate to reclaim his body before it decomposes Together, they search for redemption, their paths intertwined as they confront unresolved business with the world of the living.

Meanwhile, Timbí, a young man determined to save his father from a looming murder, joins forces with Uma, a fearless gypsy whose own life hangs in the balance. She must win a dangerous bet with La Flaca to save her dying daughter. Their descent through the circles of hell reveals that every choice comes at a cost, forcing them to weigh salvation against sacrifice.

At the same time, Jacob prepares for his debut drag performance, paralyzed by the fear of exposing his true self to his devout family. His internal battle mirrors the broader conflict between life, death, and self-acceptance that resonates throughout Babel.

Guiding this ensemble of lost souls are El Boticario, the devil disguised as Babel's bartender, and his wife Erato, a guardian angel with a tragic past. As narrators and tricksters, they lead the audience through a wild night of heartbreak, rebellion, and redemption.
