Exclusive: Lucy Punch (Amandaland) has been cast as a series regular in AMC and AMC+’s untitled Jonathan Glatzer Silicon Valley drama headlined by Billy Magnussen. Also added as a series regular is Everett Blunck.

The series, produced by AMC Studios, is set within the delusion bubble of Silicon Valley. The story follows an ethically compromised tech CEO (Magnussen) who is outrunning reputational damage as he tries to rescue his company from the brink of failure by any means necessary. Dragged into his chaos are his family, his kid’s elite prep school, an assortment of Sv power players and his psychiatrist (Sarah Goldberg).

Punch will play tech CEO’s wife who is having a retaliatory affair after her own husband’s infidelity. Blunck will play a high school student who moves to Silicon Valley to stay with his mom and stepdad.

If you loved Sydney Sweeney’s performances in dark and moody films like Immaculate and Nocturne. Then you might be in luck as according to Deadline, Sweeney is reportedly in talks to star in The Masque of the Red Death, which is based on the story of the same name by Edgar Allen Poe.

The short story revolves around a prince who locks himself into his abbey to save himself from a dangerous plague known as the Red Death. While this may be the inspiration for the upcoming film, the exact plot for the Polinger film is still being kept under wraps.

A24 and Picturestart are teaming up for the film, with Charlie Polinger taking on writing and directing duties. Polinger will also be the film’s executive producer alongside Lucy McKendrick.

The work of Edgar Allan Poe has been adapted for the big and small screen numerous times over the years, with several of the legendary writer's stories influencing Mike Flanagan's recent retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher.

The acclaimed Netflix miniseries put its own unique spin on The Masque of the Red Death, and we're now hearing that a feature adaptation is in the works. Deadline reports that A24 and Picturehouse are developing the project, with Charlie Polinger set to write and direct.

This take on the short story is described as "wildly revisionist and darkly comedic." Sydney Sweeney is in talks to play the lead role. No details on her character were disclosed, but we assume it'll be a gender-switched take on Prince Prospero.

During a Movistar+ presentation at the historic Telefónica Building on Madrid’s Gran Via this afternoon, renowned writer-director-producer duo Los Javis – Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo – shared early details about their next project, “La bola negra,” a multi-timelined feature about what it is and has meant to be a gay man in Spain throughout the last century.

A day after their series “La Mesías” won the Rose d’Or Award for best mini or limited series at Content Americas, Ambrossi and Calvo – known locally as Los Javis – revealed that they’re in the final stages of putting the project together and will begin shooting later this year. Abrossi and Calvo are writing, directing, and co-producing the feature through their label Suma Content, which is teaming with Movistar+, its production and distribution partner, on “La Mesías.”

Sydney Sweeney is booked and busy, and it looks like she's about to be even busier, as she’s reportedly in talks to star in The Masque of the Red Death, a collaboration between Picturestart and A24.

This announcement follows the recent news that the two-time Emmy-nominated actress will star in Lionsgate's upcoming film adaptation of The Housemaid. She is joined by Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, and Michele Morrone in this project, which is slated for a Christmas Day 2025 release. Other upcoming projects of hers include Euphoria season 3, which is set to start filming this month, a thriller titled Echo Valley and an untitled Christy Martin movie. Now, if she joins the cast of The Masque of the Red Death, we'll have more content to look forward to from the talented actress.

Hybrid doc series “The Letelier File,” drilling down on what is often said to be the first act of international terrorism committed on U.S. soil, looks like one potential highlight among 11 projects selected for one-to-one meetings at Ventana Sur’s Latam Series Market.

“The Letelier File” unites big creative forces in Chilean film-tv – “Prison in the Andes” creator Felipe Carmona and helmers Rafael Valdeavellano and Nicolás Acuña, a director on Fox’s “Besieged” and Rtve/Tnc’s “The 1,000 Days of Allende.”

Also among the 11 projects is hybrid doc series “Blessed,” the first TV series developed by “The Settlers” producer Quijote Films.

The group brings a festival competition movie, “I’m Nevenka,” a premium drama series, “Querer,” a broad audience thriller series, “Celeste” and “Mugaritz,” a documentary feature about Spain’s most cerebral restaurant.

The diverse projects underscore Movistar Plus+’s muscular new content initiatives as the company drives ever more into nonfiction, emerging as Spain’s leader, and launching its first movie slate in January. Spain’s biggest national investor isn’t pulling out of content; in fact, it’s diving into deeper.

Apple TV+ has acquired the global rights to the Spanish-language mystery series “Tú También lo Harías” (“You Would Do It Too”), Variety has learned.

The eight-episode show hails from Legendary Television and Espotlight Media. It will debut globally as an Apple original series on Oct. 30 with its first two episodes, with new episodes debuting every week thereafter until the season finale on Dec. 11.

French pandemic drama “The Plague,” based on Albert Camus’ novel “La Peste,” has sold to multiple European territories, Variety has learned.

The show has sold to AMC Networks International Southern Europe where it will launch on SundanceTV in Spain and AMC in Portugal while Proximus has acquired the show for Belgium. It premiered in France on France 2 in March, immediately toping the ratings. It has also been selected at the French Drama Festival in Korea, where it will premiere on Sept. 9.
