After Pokémon, Palworld Might Have Turned to Elden Ring for Some “Inspiration”
Image
Just when you thought Pocketpair might take a breather from stirring up controversy, they’ve gone and done it again. The studio that’s currently locked in legal combat with Nintendo over Pokémon similarities has apparently decided one lawsuit wasn’t enough excitement.

The Tides of Terraria update landed two days ago, and while everyone is busy gushing over the crossover content, some players have started noticing something else entirely.

Those shiny new boss fights? They look awfully familiar to anyone who’s spent time getting repeatedly murdered in Elden Ring’s Lands Between.

Déjà vu hits different when it’s frame-perfect

The community didn’t waste time connecting the dots. Bastigor, one of the new Tower Bosses in Palworld, opens one of its moves with a blood-curdling war cry before launching skyward and slamming down for massive area damage. If that sequence sounds familiar, congratulations—you’ve probably fought...

Quinta Brunson is only the third Black woman to host ‘SNL’ multiple times
Image
Quinta Brunson is about to join a rare group that only includes Queen Latifah and Maya Rudolph.

On May 3, the two-time Emmy winner for Abbott Elementary will host Saturday Night Live for the second time in her career. Only two Black women have ever hosted SNL multiple times: Latifah in 2003 and 2004, and Rudolph in 2012, 2021, and 2024.

The first time Brunson emceed NBC's late night program in April 2023, she went viral for the "Bosses" sketch in which she and Sarah Sherman played bald, chauvinistic male executives who acted inappropriately toward a new female employee (Chloe Fineman). Brunson's character was obsessed with Fineman's "big old buttered yams," proclaiming, "What I wouldn't do to jump off a diving board and cannonball into that cleavage. Help, I'm drowning! But don't save me — I want to die in there."

Other notable sketches included "Traffic Altercation," where Brunson got into a fight with Mikey Day while stuck in traffic; "Drug Dealer,...

‘Pulse’ Bosses Break Down Danny and Xander’s Finale Apology and the Changes Ahead in Potential Season 2
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “Pulse” Episode 10.

“Pulse” may have kicked off with a big focus on the complicated romance between Danny Simms and Xander Phillips, and by the end of Season 1 the messiness between them seemed to fade into the background thanks to a long-awaited apology and an admission of guilt.

After Danny (Willa Fitzgerald) rescinded her sexual harassment claim against her ex, her future at the hospital remained under threat by Xander’s (Colin Woodell) influential parents, who hoped to get her out of their son’s way. When Danny confronted the disgruntled parent of a patient of her sister Harper’s (Jessy Yates), Natalie Cruz (Justina Machado) told Danny that she now had cause to fire her from the residency program.

Natalie faced pressure of her own: either fire Danny or give up control of the hospital’s emergency room. In the end she chose her pupil,...

Cameron Diaz's Netflix Comeback Movie Gets Audience Rotten Tomatoes Score More Than Double Negative Critics Score
Image
Cameron Diaz's long-awaited comeback to Hollywood with her new Netflix movie Back in Action has received a solid audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Helmed by Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon, Diaz stars in the action-comedy alongside Jamie Foxx as Emily and Matt, former undercover CIA agents who go on the run with their children after their identities are discovered by a mysterious enemy. Marking the first pairing between Diaz and Foxx since 2014's Annie, critics have not been kind to Back in Action, netting it a 24% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now, with the movie in its debut weekend on Netflix, Rotten Tomatoes has calculated Back in Action's Audience score. With over 250 reviews calculated on the review aggregate, the action-comedy currently sits at a 64% approval rating from viewers. This is not only more than double that of its decidedly negative critics' score, but also gives it a Fresh score from audiences,...

Keke Palmer Compares Working on Disney Channel to Nickelodeon: “Disney Has a Way of Making You Want to Be a Part of It”
Image
Keke Palmer is one of the few actresses who worked on both Nickelodeon and Disney Channel at the start of her fame.

During an appearance on The Toast, hosted by Claudia & Jackie Oshry, she explained the differences between working on the two networks as a kid. She had her breakthrough role on Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP, and went on to star in Disney’s Jump In!

“I’ll say Disney is really amazing when it comes to not only the storytelling that you see onscreen, but the storytelling even within the company, like they are storytelling through marketing, through their employees,” Palmer said. “People got pins in the office. They are literally a whole like universe, and I think that feels good, especially when you’re a little kid ’cause the magic doesn’t end. So, there’s an element of being a part of it that feels really,...
