All 12 episodes of the second season of Grand Blue anime were leaked online on BitTorrent sites just one day after the anime’s official premiere on July 7.
The leaked episodes are reportedly only available in 480p resolution and do not contain any visible watermarks or timestamps. The leak also included the season’s final episode, which confirmed production of a third season.
The origin of the leak has not yet been identified.

Thankfully, the remake more than proved its worth by somehow taking the story and making it even better thanks to the current technological developments in the industry.
However, this also proved to be a lesson to anime lovers all over the world. That is, anime should always stay integral first and foremost to Japan.

So, Dragon Ball Daima completely flipped the anime world on its head, not only because it was one of the last projects Akira Toriyama worked on before he sadly passed away in March 2024, but also because of its stunning animation. The series, which explored an alternate take on the Dragon Ball universe, seriously has some of the best animation quality the franchise has ever had.

Naturally, fans started to wonder: What if all of Dragon Ball’s animation was like Daima? So, with the world of anime trending towards remakes nowadays, like those new renditions of the old favorites like Ranma ½, Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf, and The One Piece, a potential Dragon Ball remake isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, a famed animator and character designer for the Dragon Ball franchise, expressed his thoughts about an inevitable remake of the Akira Toriyama series. He was interviewed by the Db Times during the Made in Asia Spring 2025 event, which took place in Brussels, Belgium, from March 7 to 9, 2025.
Social media user @/Venixys translated the Db Times’ interview with Nakatsuru on X (formerly Twitter). Nakatsuru was asked if he would participate in a Dragon Ball remake if one were to be made. This question comes as the anime industry produces more remakes of old but popular franchises, such as Ranma ½, Spice And Wolf: Merchant Meets The Wise Wolf and The One Piece. Additionally, with Toriyama’s unexpected passing in March 2024, the recently concluded Dragon Ball Daima and the latest release of Dragon Ball Super, the future of the 40-year-old franchise isn’t as clear as fans had hoped.

The isekai genre has a tendency to feel both overwhelming and alienating. Its tremendous popularity means that we get roughly six million new series each season, stories about hapless people being reincarnated in another world and posited to fit some fantastical new destiny. Meanwhile, its typically strict adherence to a particular narrative arc dictates that if one doesn’t find something to latch onto with one series, they might just ignore the genre entirely. But if you’ve ever been curious about isekai, but hesitant (or unable) to find a suitable entry point for yourself, Zenshu might just be your saving grace. Animated by Mappa, with direction by Mitsue Yamazaki and stellar script composition by Kimiko Ueno, Zenshu concerns animator Natsuko Hirose and her journey from the real world (in which she’s a wunderkind in the anime industry) to the world of A Tale of Perishing. Perishing was Natsuko...

No matter how many new, state-of-the-art series blow up with modern anime fans, some shows never lose their relevance and manage to stand the test of time. Anime classics are considered timeless for a reason – their influence and artistic value go beyond spur-of-the-moment popularity as audiences keep coming back to these old icons decades after they took the anime world by storm.
Anime remakes have only gotten more prominent in recent years – from Ranma ½ to Fruits Basket, more and more iconic series are receiving modernized reboots, with quite a few currently announced in the works. While some anime definitely need remakes, these excellent classic anime hold up perfectly as-is. A remake would never be able to recreate what made them great in the first place.

Dragon Ball was an iconic anime touchstone of the ‘80s and ‘90s, but now — four decades later — it continues to influence and inspire modern shonen series. The anime and manga industries would be very different without Dragon Ball and there are even certain customs from the franchise — like its signature Super Saiyan transformations — that have found their way into plenty of Western pop culture.
Dragon Ball deserves its success and enduring appeal, but this doesn’t mean that it’s a flawless franchise. In fact, there are certain details and developments in Dragon Ball that have not aged well and make it particularly painful to get through certain stretches of the series. Dragon Ball’s benefits more than outnumber its cons, but it’s still important to be aware of some of its more problematic missteps.

In the anime scene, the action-comedy genre is all the rage these days, as a number of fan favourites like Dandadan, Spy x Family, and Ranma ½ are already raking in huge numbers of viewers across streaming platforms. In the same list, now we have got an anime adaptation of Yuto Suzuki’s wildly popular manga, Sakamoto Days, which follows a legendary hitman’s efforts to leave his old life behind and turn over a new page as a family man, only to get dragged back into it by the ghosts of his past, which results in a series of hilarious scenarios. Viewers can find similarities with the anime The Devil is a Part-Timer, another such laugh riot that sets Satan up in an ordinary lifestyle to create zany situations, although from the first episode, Sakamoto Days appears to be much more light-hearted in comparison.

Ranma ½'s fight scenes are some of the best in anime. They're both destructive and comedic, which makes each fight unique in its own way, especially when Ranma and Akane continuously face new foes to defeat.
What makes Ranma ½ fights such a treat to watch is how unconventional they can become. Since it's not set in a fantasy world, modern restraints still apply, but Ranma ½ also sprinkles in its own charm to make their fights standout among anime that take place in a modern setting. They do this by over-exaggerating them to where it's comedic, which brings a breath of fresh air to every fight Ranma and Akane encounter.

Ranma 1/2, a reboot of a classic series from the 2024 Fall anime line-up, highlights the timeless charm of classic anime. While modern romance anime explore diverse narratives—spanning high school romances, university flings, office love stories, villainess redemption arcs, and more—audiences might feel overwhelmed by the influx of titles like A Sign of Affection, Kimi ni Todoke Season 2, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, and 7th Time Loop. Despite this, Ranma 1/2 reintroduces a refreshing, innocent romance that blossoms from the quirks of everyday life.
The story revolves around Ranma Saotome, who transforms into a girl when splashed with cold water, and Akane Tendo, his hot-headed fiancée. Their journey balances humor and heartfelt moments, proving that Akane and Ranma's dynamic relationship isn’t just nostalgic. It’s the perfect blend of modernity and classic storytelling, making them one of anime’s most enduring couples today.

Among all manga/anime works by author Rumiko Takahashi, fans might say that Inuyasha has the best character designs of all, but the popular Ranma 1/2 series isn't far behind. This is a delightful action/romance/comedy series that helped blaze trails for shonen anime in the 1980s, such as tsunderes and harems, and Takahashi sold those ideas via her great character designs. Such wacky antics only work if viewers love the characters.
The 2024 Ranma 1/2 anime features a handful of delightful characters with simple yet effective designs in terms of their appearances, personalities, unique combat abilities, and often, their emotional depth as well. Whether these characters are charming caricatures or subversive antiheroes, plenty of characters in Ranma 1/2's cast show fans how comedy anime should be handled.

Japanese manga fans have recommended some of the best series for fans to binge-read these winter holidays. Throughout the years, reboots have brought back classic anime, but Ranma ½ has redefined the process, proving why it’s one of the best blueprints for remakes. Many reboots attempt to balance nostalgia and fresh appeal, often landing as either a hit or a miss. Ranma ½ has secured its spot as a success by delivering not only entertainment but also valuable lessons for future anime reboots.
Classic gems are a nostalgic treat that modern fans should explore. Yet, their lengthy episodes and dated animation often deter viewers from fully committing. Fortunately, reboots like Fruits Basket, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Rurouni Kenshin, and Hunter x Hunter have shown these classics can still compete with modern anime. But none of them have captured the lasting magic and lessons of Ranma ½.

Ranma 1/2 has long since stood as one of author Rumiko Takahashi's best works, and the new 2024 Ranma 1/2 anime helps prove it. Like Urusei Yatsura before it, the Ranma 1/2 anime takes everything that made a 1980s anime great and polishes it with modern production values, giving a new generation of anime fans a fair chance to meet some classic characters. And in a wacky martial arts/comedy anime like Ranma 1/2, introductions can be truly dazzling.
The new Ranma 1/2 anime may only be 12 episodes in, but it has already treated anime fans to some delightful cast members who all made a flashy debut. Amusingly, a few of them gave the completely wrong impression to everyone, only to reveal their true nature later as circumstances allowed. In other cases, it was perfectly and amusingly clear what a character was like the moment they first appeared.

For the sake of comedy and to make its protagonist flawed, the new Ranma 1/2 anime made Ranma Saotome a punk hero with a serious attitude problem, just like in the original manga. Ranma isn't a full-blown antihero, since he also has good side and will fight hard to protect the best girl Akane Tendo, but he still has a juvenile and prickly disposition. Ranma constantly teases and mocks almost everyone around them, even when they try being nice to him, and it infuriates Akane to no end.
Ranma is a bit of a jerk who's conceited and liable to make fun of people, but even with that attitude, anime fans could still do worse. There are a handful of anime protagonists or supporting heroes who have even worse attitudes, sometimes skirting the line between hero and antagonist. Some of them are like that by nature, while others have a...

Ranma 1/2 has been a highly faithful and successful modern remake of the beloved original TV anime. Based on the manga by the legendary Rumiko Takahashi, Ranma 1/2's source material was already so far ahead of its time that simply adding modern visuals and sound was enough to bring new fans to Ranma in droves. Now, both new and long-time fans will be able to enjoy even more of the Ranma 1/2 reboot, as Season 2 has officially been confirmed to be in production.

The best characters in the new Ranma 1/2 anime are not just hilarious and realistically flawed people living in the 1980s Japan, but also skilled martial artists. This is a martial arts comedy anime where fists and humor are equally compelling for the plot, ever since the Saotome family arrived to live with the Tendos in their martial arts dojo. While power scaling isn't hugely important for this anime, fans still care about how strong the fighters are and how they compare to one another.
Plenty of fighters in Ranma 1/2 are experts in karate and similar martial arts, and a few of them have branched off into other physical arts like figure ice skating, gymnastics, and kendo, not to mention the usage of Chinese weapons. So far, based on each character's physical feats and who has already defeated whom, a clear hierarchy of strength and skill has emerged in the Ranma 1/2 anime.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead for Ranma 1/2 Episode #10The next big character in Ranma 1/2 has officially arrived in the remake, and she's already gotten a much-needed change. The long-anticipated remake of Rumiko Takahashi's iconic manga is cruising through the original story now with Ranma, Ryoga, and Akane's battle against martial arts skaters Azusa and Mikado officially completed. However, episode 10 of the remake gave fans a taste of what's to come with the introduction of the next big side character in the series, Shampoo.
For the most part, Shampoo is the same as she's always been in both the manga and anime. She's introduced as a Chinese Amazon woman who's defeated by girl Ranma in battle. Not knowing about the curse, this leads to Shampoo trying to hunt her down and kill her for defeating her after she gives her the Kiss of Death. Then, when Ranma defeats her again in boy form,...

Rumiko Takahashi started serializing the manga release of Ranma 1/2 in 1987. Although the popularity of her other series, Inuyasha, overshadowed most of her other work, Ranma 1/2 is determined to step back into the spotlight with an anime remake that follows the source material more closely.
Fans in the past may have overlooked Ranma 1/2's views on gender in favor of its over-the-top fights, but modern anime fans are finally taking notice of this major plot point. Ranma 1/2 is a classic anime and manga by Rumiko Takahashi that has been brought back into the light by its anime remake. This reboot stays closer to the original source material than the martial arts-focused Ranma 1/2 anime of the past. Despite being an ongoing anime, fans have greatly enjoyed this new series to the point they like it better than the original anime.

Excellent shows will inevitably become lost among the hundreds currently accessible, but luckily for fans, Netflix is home to some of the more underrated to have been released in recent years.

Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 received an anime reboot as of October 2024, bringing this classic anime back into the spotlight. Instead of focusing on the fights throughout the series, this new anime hopes to remain more faithful to the original manga released in the 80s and 90s.
By choosing to remain more faithful to the source material, Ranma 1/2's reboot has turned its focus to Ranma's relationships and those of the characters surrounding him. This brings a new spin on the classic anime that new fans, and perhaps even older fans, may find refreshing. Of those relationships, ten in particular stand out as the most touching in the reboot.

There has been a recent trend in the anime world of remaking older anime. Fruits Basket's remake adapted the entirety of the series and gave it the conclusion anime fans so desperately needed. Ranma 1/2 brought that classic anime to a new audience who may have overlooked it otherwise.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead for Ranma 1/2 Episode #8The new remake of Ranma 1/2 just missed a major opportunity to fix one of the original anime's most frustrating issues. It goes without saying that the original Ranma 1/2 anime wasn't perfect. Certain head-scratching details and filler storylines made an already good show go on longer than it should have. However, while the remake has fixed a lot of these problems for the most part so far, one unsatisfying plot detail has stayed.

Months after one of the worst anime leaks in history, Netflix has secured a court order against Discord compelling them to give up any identifying information on the user allegedly responsible.
Via Polygon, Netflix has secured a subpoena against Discord through California's Northern District Court for one of its users, allegedly involved with one of the worst leaks in anime history this summer. The Discord user @jacejohns4n claimed responsibility for the leaks, which included Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain, Ranma 1/2, Terminator Zero, DandadanDan, Kengan Ashura, Arcane and Heartstopper. Despite the low-quality footage, they circulated on multiple pirate sites months before their release. In a September interview with someone purporting to be Johnson on Telegram, he claimed he was currently planning his next big leak. Notably, Johnson appears to have an unreleased image from the upcoming Squid Game.

Several classic anime have received remakes in the last few years, including Rurouni Kenshin, Shaman King, and Urusei Yatsura. But in terms of success, Ranma 1/2 is the first thing that comes to mind.
After the overwhelmingly positive response from fans, it has encouraged directors to take classic anime more seriously. The result is another remake, and this time of a 1988 manga by Gosho Aoyama, the creator of Detective Conan.

Science Saru's wholesome occult rom-com Dandadan continues to impress millions of global viewers. Netflix's latest TV rankings reveal an extremely consistent performance for the series compared to other Fall 2024 anime, including one of the biggest Shonen Jump IPs of all time.
Dandadan's impressive run continues on Netflix's Top 10, ranking fourth globally with 9.3 million hours viewed this week. When divided by its 2-hour and 53-minute runtime, this amounts to 3.2 million views. This marks Dandadan's sixth week in the rankings, and notably, it's the only anime series left standing after Dragon Ball Daima and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hashira Training Arc bowed out after placing 8th and 10th last week.
