“The Bachelor” showrunners Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner are exiting the ABC reality dating franchise amid a report of the pair fostering a “toxic” and “hostile” work environment.
The pair’s departures, which Deadline reported are currently being negotiated with producer Warner Bros. Television, follow the resignations of co-executive producers Michael Margolis and Keely Booth earlier this month.
The allegations of a toxic workplace first surfaced in an earlier Deadline report. Margolis is Freeland’s husband and Booth is Freeland’s longtime friend, though Wbtv told the outlet that the studio pursued a formal conflict-of-interest process and noted neither staffer reported to Freeland. Neither Margolis nor Booth, however, were mentioned in regard to fostering a toxic work environment on set.
Representatives for ABC and Wbtv declined to comment.

The search is on for the next Golden Bachelor, and producers aren’t wasting any time. Instead of selecting a contestant from Joan Vassos’ upcoming season of The Golden Bachelorette, they are casting a wider net—leaving fans wondering why none of the eligible men from her season were chosen.
With time running out, the franchise is seeking fresh applicants, and the buzz around their decision is growing.
Why Isn’t the Next Golden Bachelor from The Golden Bachelorette?
Initially, speculation was high that Mark Anderson—one of the standout men from Joan Vassos’ season—would step into the lead role. However, he has since entered a relationship with One Tree Hill actress Barbara Alyn Woods, taking him out of the running.
Another potential candidate, Jonathan Rone, also seemed like a strong contender. However, while he is now single after parting ways with his post-show relationship, it’s unclear whether...

Two co-executive producers have exited The Bachelor franchise. Michael Margolis and Keely Booth have stepped down from their roles, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Their departures come amid recent reports of an alleged toxic workplace at the ABC and Warner Bros. TV-produced reality series, of which The Bachelor is one of several series under their umbrella.
The franchise also includes the female-led The Bachelorette, which ABC abruptly put on pause last month. ABC didn’t give a reason, or comment on if or when the female-led spinoff would return, when announcing that season 22 wouldn’t air in The Bachelorette‘s usual summer spot.
Deadline, however, reported that the hiatus prompted many crew members to lose their jobs. A dozen former and current producers on the franchise, who spoke to Deadline anonymously, then accused showrunners and executive producers Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner of running a “toxic” and “hostile” environment. The Bachelorette has decided to take a break this summer.
ABC’s long-running reality dating series won’t be returning for season 22 in Summer 2025, following Grant Ellis’ current season of The Bachelor, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
It wasn’t immediately clear ABC’s reason for the pause or when the series would return. The last three seasons of The Bachelorette have premiered in July.
Jenn Tran led the latest iteration, season 21, of the female-led spinoff of The Bachelor last year. It ended in September with a shocking twist after Tran had to decide between two final men, Marcus Shoberg and Devin Strader. (Spoiler!) Though Tran ultimately chose Strader, it was later revealed during the live finale that Strader broke off the engagement through a phone call.

Golden Bachelor fans were sad when Gerry Turner dumped Leslie Fhima on the ABC show. But, she’s moving on with life and earning the respect of many people for her inspiring journey to health and fitness.
ABC Star Leslie Fhima Is 66 Years Old
In December last year, the Golden Bachelor alum celebrated her 66th birthday. The rejected contestant shared some photos and she looked stunning. So, many of her fans wished that they could work out as hard as she does. Remember, she used to be a professional figure skater. Nowadays, she’s a fitness coach and personal trainer.
Many ABC fans hoped that Leslie Fhima would be chosen as the first lead on The Golden Bachelorette. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. So they saw Joan Vassos instead, and many people felt the whole show was a bit insipid. Still, they do get to see Leslie on social media.

I've changed my mind and no longer believe that The Golden Bachelorette fan-favorite Charles Ling will be the next Golden Bachelor, contrary to rumors. The inaugural season of The Golden Bachelorette ended with Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple getting engaged on national television, and I'm convinced we'll be graced with another Golden Bachelor wedding in 2025. 61-year-old Joan was no stranger to looking for love on television, as she made her debut as a contestant on The Golden Bachelor season 1. When she had to leave early due to a family emergency, she thought her Bachelor journey was over, but it had only begun. She was soon announced as The Golden Bachelorette.
Joan kicked off The Golden Bachelorette season 1 by greeting 24 single men, including 60-year-old Chock Chapple. The season ended with the couple getting engaged and riding off into the sunset to claim their happy ending. Since getting engaged, the couple have seemed happy as they blend their lives and families. It's been too long since The Golden Bachelor gifted us with a Golden wedding, but...

The Golden Bachelorette season 1's Mark Anderson may have recently proven he doesn't need to be The Golden Bachelor because he may have found love all on his own. The 58-year-old retired Army veteran's journey started when his daughter, Kelsey Anderson, competed in The Bachelor season 20. When she took her new boyfriend, Joey Graziadei, to Louisiana for her hometown date, fans fell madly in love with her father.
Mark was cast as a contestant in The Golden Bachelorette season 1, along with 23 other single Golden men. Though hopes were high for Mark and Joan Vassos, she sent him home after a particularly awkward solo date. Mark was crushed by the elimination, but he wasn't down for long. The Golden Bachelorette's Joan Vassos has been spending a lot of time in Kansas with Chock Chapple, and it's raising questions about their living arrangements. Joan, a 61-year-old private school administrator from Maryland, made her television debut during Gerry Turner's season of The Golden Bachelor. 72-year-old Gerry ended up marrying 70-year-old Theresa Nist, but Joan was given another opportunity to find love on national television. She was cast as The Golden Bachelorette and headed back to The Bachelor mansion.
After the meteoric success of The Golden Bachelor, fans were clamoring for a female-led version of the spin-off. The highly anticipated premiere of The Golden Bachelorette season 1 found Joan greeting 24 single Golden men outside the mansion where she had met Gerry a few months earlier. When Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple got engaged at the end of The Golden Bachelorette, I was convinced that they wouldn't last. My cynical outlook was influenced by the stunning failure of the first Golden Bachelor couple. 72-year-old Gerry Turner and 70-year-old Theresa Nist got married after The Golden Bachelor season 1, but their marriage only lasted for three months. I was sure that 61-year-old Joan and 60-year-old Chock were doomed to the same fate, but maybe I wasn't being fair to Joan and Chock. Perhaps I needed to see past the precedent set by Gerry and Theresa.

The Golden Bachelorette favorite Mark Anderson, a 58-year-old retired Army veteran from Louisiana, was once rumored to be the leading man on the next season of The Golden BachelorI; however, recent holiday photos with his family suggest he may no longer be single. The Golden Bachelorette's Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are still together now, but there are signs the couple may have serious relationship struggles. In many ways, 61-year-old Joan and 60-year-old Chock are charting brand-new territory. The Golden Bachelor and the female-led version of the spin-off were the first dating shows focused on the love lives of seniors. The Golden Bachelorette star Mark Anderson was someone I hoped to see as the next Golden Bachelor, but I’ve changed my mind as he wouldn’t fit the role. Throughout The Golden Bachelorette season 1, Mark and the cast were introduced as options for Joan Vassos to find love with after loss. Joan, who had lost her husband John Vassos to cancer just a few years prior, had been on the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor, but was trying to find love on her own. Mark, the father of Bachelor winner Kelsey Anderson, joined the show to Bachelor Nation’s excitement.

Despite getting engaged at the end of The Golden Bachelorette, Joan Vassos appears to be in no rush to marry Chock Chapple. Though the final rose ceremony only aired a few weeks ago, 61-year-old Joan and 60-year-old Chock have actually been engaged for a while now. The show filmed from June 2025 until August, so the couple have been secretly engaged for several months. The fact that they haven't set a wedding date could be a bad sign for the relationship.
After being eliminated from Gerry Turner's season of The Golden Bachelor, Joan was announced as the spin-off's first female lead. ABC's The Golden Bachelorette season 1 opened with Joan meeting 24 single men, including Chock. The season ended with Joan giving Chock her final rose. In turn, he put a ring on her finger. The Bachelor franchise had a rough year, with many missteps and a lot of controversy, and there are some things that the producers should leave in 2024 as they look forward to 2025. While the franchise had some bright spots in 2024, including Joey Graziadei's romantic and successful Bachelor season, and Joan Vassos' beautiful Golden Bachelorette season, the rest of the year was marred by the overexposure of beloved Bachelor Nation members, the casting of questionable contestants, and the failures of relationships.
As the Bachelor franchise moves into 2025, there are many things that it can do to fix the mistakes of 2024. However, the producers have to be willing to learn from their mistakes, and move forward with a fresh start. The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos went on the show hoping to find the second love of her life, and while Chock Chapple may fit the bill, I’m convinced Joan’s so swept up in her emotions that she’s leaving her family behind. Throughout The Golden Bachelorette season 1, Joan’s connections with most of the guys in her cast were interesting to watch. As the season progressed, it became clear that she had a few front-runners, including Chock. Despite knowing Chock was sometimes difficult to deal with, Joan felt sparks with the Kansas-based business owner and chose to be with him.
After accepting Chock’s proposal and appearing on the live The Golden Bachelorette: After The Final Rose special, Joan was shown feeling happier than ever. Despite some pre-season quotes she’d given, Joan made it evident that she was open to some more attention from Bachelor Nation.

The Golden Bachelor was revelatory for Bachelor Nation when it began airing, but the controversies behind the show have been so shocking that I’m struggling to understand what’s next for the more mature side of the franchise. If producers wanted Mark Anderson to be The Golden Bachelor, they should never have cast him as a contestant on The Golden Bachelorette. Now it just makes it look like the 58-year-old retired Army veteran was a "producer plant" who was only cast as a contestant to prepare him for being a future lead. Everybody knows that the Bachelor franchise often casts leads from among the contestants of past seasons, so it's only natural that the assumption would be made. While many contestants apply to be on Bachelor Nation shows, Mark's casting was more organic than that.
Mark never applied to be on a Bachelor show, but his daughter, Kelsey Anderson, did. Mark made his television debut when Kelsey brought Joey Graziadei to Louisiana for her hometown date. Mark's time on screen was brief, but fans immediately started clamoring for Mark to replace 72-year-old Gerry Turner as the next The Golden Bachelor.

The Golden Bachelor alum Susan Noles wasn't Gerry Turner's final pick, but she rallied after that disappointment, and since her stint on the show, she's been doing some fascinating things. She did a podcast with Kathy Swarts and participated in Celebrity Family Feud as part of the "Golden 5." While no one likes to get rejected, Susan's thriving now, and she looks fantastic. Sadly, Gerry Turner's living with cancer - it's treatable but incurable. He said his diagnosis played a role in his decision to end things with Theresa Nist.
On The Golden Bachelor, Susan started out strong. Gerry even gave her a present - it was a rose quartz crystal. He felt that she embodied the mystical properties of the pretty semi-precious stone, including "strength" and "empathy." He believed that his late wife Toni Turner had the same appealing traits. Nonetheless, he eventually decided that she wasn't the right woman for him.

The Golden Bachelorette star Chock Chapple won Joan Vassos' heart, but some reality TV relationships don't work out, and if their engagement ends, Chock might be a good candidate for The Golden Bachelor. Yes, it would be a little bit unusual to bring a man whose romance failed into a new series, asking him to try again, but maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea.
