Gachiakuta

‘Sakamoto Days’ Still Has a Major Advantage Over ‘Gachiakuta’ and ‘Dandadan’
Image
Sakamoto Days might not be as celebrated as Gachiakuta or Dandadan, but at least it avoids problematic se*ualization of minors. Sakamoto Days has been overshadowed by other flashier anime throughout seasons 1 and 2, and yes, it does lack in the animation department. Yet, it makes sure not to cover up its mistakes with unnecessary fan service, especially regarding minors.

While Sakamoto Days might not be the first pick for many shonen fans when they want to relax and watch a show, it surely does deserve its fair share of respect simply for this gesture.

Sakamoto Days’ Responsible Storytelling Contrasts Dandadan, Gachiakuta

Sakamoto Days‘ debut faced high expectations, but it has struggled to match the popularity achieved by Dandadan and later Gachiakuta. Its inconsistent animation has been pointed out time and again, leading to disappointment as the anime cannot completely capture the manga’s spirit. Additionally, the series is facing stiff competition from Dandadan and Gachiakuta,...

‘Gachiakuta’ Cannot Seem to Escape ‘Soul Eater’s Shadow and That Might Be for the Best
Image
From the composer to the animation director, Gachiakuta shares a lot in common with Soul Eater’s anime, resulting in the former gaining attention for being the latter’s successor rather than having any individuality. However, there are some hidden benefits to this.

This becomes even more hammered in once you find out Kei Urana, the creator of Gachiakuta, was Atsushi Ohkubo’s assistant while he worked on Fire Force. The comparisons between her manga and Soul Eater became rampant, but the shared staff members for their anime adaptations made it reach new heights.

However, while it does perpetually make Gachiakuta live in the shadow of Soul Eater, it also brings in more fans. They do have a similar vibe, and therefore, it’s fun for everyone who misses Soul Eater.

‘Gachiakuta’ Author Defended One Manga More Than Her Own Work
Image
Kei Urana, the author behind Gachiakuta, doesn’t take insults from anime fans who seek to hate more than appreciate, and destroyed one hate reply she got about Soul Eater when she posted about it on her X account, @KEI_URANA. She wasn’t offended when Gachiakuta was called “mid” by the user, but did for Soul Eater, instead.

Soul Eater : god

You go to work.

— 裏那圭◾️Kei Urana (@KEI_URANA) September 2, 2024

The Gachiakuta author expressed her excitement for a Soul Eater exhibition and posted about it on her X account. However, one fan, @maki788d, whose account has now been suspended, decided to be unnecessarily hateful. Thankfully, Urana had it under control.

It demonstrates Urana’s respect for other works, even when her own is being targeted by hatred. Gachiakuta is an excellent manga in which she’s poured her heart into, but she chose to defend Atsushi Ohkubo,...

Fact Check: Did Tite Kubo End Bleach Due to Health Issues?
Image
Guys, Bleach ended because of Tite Kubo’s health, and that’s a fact. Why can’t you accept it? It ended because of his declining health, and not because of stuff like declining sales. In case you are one of the people still puzzled about the reason for Bleach’s abrupt finale, we are here to set the facts straight.

Kubo ended the series due to a torn shoulder tendon and repeated hospitalizations, and we’ve verified these claims from sources like translated X posts (comment via tarakian-grunt/Reddit) and Bleach’s tankobon volumes. This fact check confirms that health was the primary factor for a sudden ending.

Despite being one of the Og Big Three manga of Shonen, Bleach will forever be remembered in history for having a rushed ending.

‘Gachiakuta’ Was Always Made With a Possible Anime Adaptation in Mind – Reveals Mangaka
Image
Gachiakuta‘s raw energy and visual flair have already captivated the audience, and now it’s clear from Kei Urana’s words that the manga was always fated to receive an anime. Based on both the author’s admission and the manga’s stylistic elements, there is compelling evidence that Gachiakuta was never created to stay imprisoned in pages. It was created so that it could be brought to life with an anime adaptation.

Urana hasn’t hidden her passion for anime, and it permeates through the pages of Gachiakuta as well. The action-packed pages of Gachiakuta, which follow an exiled boy and his fight for survival, have captivated manga readers, and now it’s an otaku puller in anime format.

Kei Urana Admits That the Gachiakuta Manga Was Born for the Screen

‘Gachiakuta’ Creator Uses Tite Kubo’s One Trick to Set the Tone of the Manga
Image
Kei Urana, the author of Gachiakuta, revealed that music has a great contribution in her creative process, which might remind fans of Tite Kubo’s trick to flesh out Bleach characters. It seems like music serves as a vital tool to shape the narratives and artwork of Gachiakuta and Bleach.

Both Tite Kubo and Kei Urana have discussed how they assimilate music into their creative process, as it acts like a catalyst for inspiration and mood-setting. These two titans in the world of manga and anime have fueled their distinct styles by using similar methods.

Music Is the Creative Spark for Gachiakuta and Bleach’s Creators

In an interview posted by Anime News Network, Kei Urana was asked about what inspired her art style outside of anime and manga. The author replied:

So I actually kind of use music or listen to it while I’m working. Then I’d go,...

‘Gachiakuta’ Creator Made a Major Change in the Manga Because of the Anime
Image
The Gachiakuta anime has indeed been a success, but in a surprising twist, it’s also led creator Kei Urana to change her character designs in the manga. Well, that’s because when she saw the anime’s premiere, she noticed the studio might have had a hard time keeping up with Gachiakuta’s detailed character designs. So, she decided to make them simpler from now on.

In a recent interview with Anime News Network, sponsored by Yen Press, Urana opened up about this change. Needless to say, the revelation came as quite a shock to fans; however, there might actually be a noble reason behind it. Changing the art style to a simpler version may benefit both the anime and the manga. Here’s how.

How the Gachiakuta Anime Might Benefit From Simpler Character Designs

The Gachiakuta manga has gained much of its popularity thanks to its insane art style and complicated character designs.

“Where are her organs?”: ‘Gachiakuta’ May Be In Big Trouble Because of One Change in the Anime
Image
Riyo Reaper, a carefree ex-hitman who has now become a cleaner, has recently debuted in Gachiakuta and immediately raised red flags for the anime. The character is a fan favorite because of her deadly skills and playful personality. Yet, her character design has sparked debates on topics of body representation.

The crux of the matter is that Riyo has a waist so thin it looks like she does not have a single internal organ. It almost looks like skin has been stretched on her ribs and hip bones, leaving a very thin waistline. This unrealistic design could spell trouble for the show.

Gachiakuta Episode 5 Review: The Pacing Cries for Help While Zanka Steals the Show
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Major spoilers ahead for Episode 5 of Gachiakuta!

The snail’s pace at which the anime for Gachiakuta is taking is making me impatient. The showcase of Zanka’s powers wasn’t enough to satiate me. It’s showing you too much, while executing very little in each episode. Just as I thought Jabber Wonger would come out of the shadows, he remained in it. Episode 5 mobilized his plan, but all I could think of was that I wanted to see more.

The first half of Episode 5 also felt more like filler content. It balanced wholesome humor with action brilliantly, but it fell short of being as intense as I had imagined. Gachiakuta doesn’t have to be an exact adaptation of the manga’s events, but the anime forgets it has room for some creative liberty.

Why ‘Gachiakuta’s Character Designs Matter More Than Any Anime You’ve Ever Watched
Image
The character design and art style in Gachiakuta play an essential role in enhancing the storytelling and provide viewers with plenty of information about the character before they have even spoken a word. So, Gchiakuta has captured its viewers not only with its gritty and dystopian world but also with its exceptional character design, much more than any other anime ever did.

Gachiakuta is set in a world where society is divided between the rich and the discarded. The designs of the characters portray the divide even better. The protagonist, Rudo, wears a ragged patchwork of clothes. It was created with discarded materials that have been reused, much like Rudo himself, who was thrown away by society, but he finds his own purpose.

Gachiakuta’s Character Design Is a Tool of Visual Storytelling

The character designs in Gachiakuta are a means of visual storytelling. Every outfit that a character wears tells their personality and history.

‘Gachiakuta’ Made Chiwa’s Betrayal of Rudo Worse Than the Manga
Image
One of the most vital plot points in Gachiakuta was Chiwa’s betrayal of Rudo during his exile, as she was his only friend and crush, and wasn’t prejudiced against him. This all went down the drain after he was accused of murdering Regto, and she quickly switched sides.

In the anime of Gachiakuta, Bones Film portrays Rudo as much more endearing than his manga counterpart. As a result, the fandom is a lot more protective of him. It makes Chiwa’s betrayal more bitter, even if we had read it before the adaptation’s release.

However, the situation isn’t as black and white as “betrayal,” but rather the expectation we had for Chiwa’s character. We were rooting for her to support Rudo, which made the anime’s version of the scene far more shocking.

‘Gachiakuta’ Is Trapped in the Shonen Comfort Zone
Image
For the already existing fans of the Gachiakuta manga, the anime has been a blessing for them so far. But if you’re an anime-only viewer, then don’t you think it feels a bit too Shonen-esque? Sure, the adaptation is doing more than justice to the manga, and there’s nothing really to complain about it, but one can’t help but wish that there were some potential changes in the anime.

The hype was certainly there regarding the much-anticipated release of the Gachiakuta anime. The manga had already been fairly popular, and if you surf on social media, you’d mostly see readers praising the series. However, with the anime finally upon us, and even after the 4th episode has just been released, you can’t really see that hype anymore. It’s as if the anime is already failing even before the storyline has properly kicked in.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Worldwide Box Office: Anime Film Crosses $7.2M Worldwide As Series Drops From US Top 10

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Hidden Inventory Sees Box Office Success(Photo Credit –Prime Video)

Crunchyroll continues to stream Jujutsu Kaisen, but its position in the US top 10 is slipping. Once a dominant title, the anime is now sitting at number nine and inching toward the bottom of the chart.

At the top are The Rising of the Shield Hero, back with a new season since July 9, followed by Clevatess, I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince So I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability, Kaiju No. 8, and Gachiakuta, which round out the top five.

Gachiakuta Episode 4 Review: Trying to Be the Perfect Shonen Anime Can Only Get You So Far
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Major spoilers ahead for Episode 4 of Gachiakuta!

The pacing of Gachiakuta picks up with the return of the Trash Beasts, except it’s being a bit too faithful to the manga. It brought back much-needed action to the narrative, but it’s not enough to make it stand out. We might be seeing the consequence of the adaptation being burdened by the expectation of becoming the next big Shonen series.

Episode 4 doesn’t exactly go beyond what you expect from the manga. It’s too close to the source, and while it does justice to Riyo, Semiu, and Gris, I expected more creativity. Gachiakuta was meant to redefine the Shonen genre, and yet all I see is the same old formula. While I do love how Bones Film brings it to life, it isn’t necessarily making it shine.

As the New ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Movie Dominates Global Box Office, the Original Mappa Series Loses Traction on Streaming
Image
Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory/Premature Death, the latest movie in the hit anime franchise, just crossed another impressive box office milestone on the heels of its July 16 release. While that bodes well for the compilation pic, the same cannot be said for the original series produced by Mappa. Jujutsu Kaisen has since been streaming on Crunchyroll, where it has remained a hit despite how long ago Season 2 last aired. Unfortunately, it appears not to be finding as much success recently as it is on its way to being removed from the top 10 titles.

‘Gachiakuta’ Has the Potential to Become the Best Anime We’ve Seen in a Long Time
Image
It’s no secret that the first three episodes of Gachiakuta are slow, to say the least. The anime adaptation is opting to go chapter by chapter of the manga, rather than adding new elements. While it remains loyal to the source, it does struggle to hook fans into it.

That being said, it does lay down the groundwork for its world. Gachiakuta has a slightly complex system, although not too unique, and the first three episodes set the foundation. The future episodes will involve better fights and familiarize us with the characters.

Once it switches up the tone, the action in Gachiakuta will be chaotic and relentless. It has some of the craziest villains in anime, too. Along with Bones Film’s animation, this series is a guaranteed hit in 2025.

‘Gachiakuta’ Is Bringing Back Frieza’s Voice Actor in the Best Way

Gachiakuta has a plethora of unique characters and even some side characters who momentarily steal the show. Episode 3 of the anime debuted an old bald doctor who resembled an old man, despite being an old woman. Turns out that the character was voiced by Ryusei Nakao, the voice actor of Dragon Ball‘s Frieza.

Nakao has plenty of popular roles to his name. He voices Mayuri in Bleach, Daraku in Gintama, Vaccine Man in One Punch Man, and more. Nakao has brought some iconic characters to life, and casting him for a random old woman in Gachiakuta has been a winning decision, earning praise from fans.

Gachiakuta Episode 3 Review: Comedy So Good, You’ll Like Classic Shonen Again
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Majors spoilers ahead for Episode 3 of Gachiakuta!

When Gachiakuta was delayed for a week, I was growing impatient. Having seen the first two episodes early, it was a matter of will that held me together. I loved its debut, especially how it does justice to the manga’s punk and chaotic environment. Episode 3 proved to me that it wasn’t just a fluke. The comedy and action are top-tier, to the point that it was hard to catch your breath.

The episode lacks the tension of the first two episodes, which isn’t necessarily a terrible thing. After all, Rudo deserves a small break. Gachiakuta takes the time to introduce basic elements that are essential to the storyline. The animation nails the unhinged expressions the characters make. It reminds me of classic One Piece comedy before the time skip.

New Thriller Anime Series With Only 1 Season Just Became a Sleeper Hit on Netflix
Image
Anime fans have little to complain about this summer. A slate of returning and new titles are commanding the streaming charts, and now that Netflix has dominated the anime realm, it's possible that this type of release will only become more frequent. One of the new titles that debuted on the platform is Tougen Anki, a new anime series that kicked off its first season earlier this month and is only now taking over the streamer's charts, per FlixPatrol.

The series centers around a young boy who discovers he is a type of demon called Oni. Shiki Ichinose quickly finds out that being an Oni is not enough. He has to train hard if he wants to be able to fight other demons, so he enrolls in the Oni Agency, where he meets several fighters like him. Despite his personal motivation, he enters the Oni world in the middle of...

One Persona 3 Reload Tease Has Fans Convinced It’s Coming to the Switch 2 Very Soon
Image
The coming few weeks might be of interest to all the Persona fans, as the rumors of a Persona 3 Reload for Switch 2 are surfacing on the internet. For those who don’t know, a Nintendo Direct is rumored to happen soon, and perhaps this is where Atlus may reveal a port for P3 Reload for the Switch 2 handheld. Although it is not an official statement, it is well worth considering, as the source of this rumor is a prominent one.

This tease comes from a trusted leaker, who is also known for speculating correctly about various Atlus and Sega titles. The leaker is none other than @lolilolailo from Resetera, who has predicted games like Persona 3 Reload and Persona 4 Revive in the past. So you see, it is not fun and games anymore, as the rumors of the Switch 2 port might be true.

‘Gachiakuta’ Is Using Trash to Make Shonen Great Again
Image
Gachiakuta drops its audience in a grime and rot-filled world. From the moment the main storyline began, fans could really feel the stained clothing, rusted metals, and discarded objects all around them. Yet, Gachiakuta uses this trash to make an original Shonen story that brings back the core elements of the genre.

The anime is comfortable in the darkness that it portrays and does not hide the evils that the world has committed against the Tribal Folk. The power system in Gachiakuta is fueled by emotion and not calm-headed logic, and that’s what makes it stand out in today’s Shonen scenario.

Why are ‘Gachiakuta’ Episode 3 and ‘One Piece’ Episode 1137 Delayed?
Image
One Piece just returned after its 6-month hiatus, and Gachiakuta also just started airing with only 2 episodes released so far. So, it’s quite unfortunate for both of their fans to be hit with this unprecedented delay in their episodes. It may even significantly affect the anime’s performance.

However, the reason for such a delay can’t be ignored either. Knowing full well that the delay could hamper the progress of their storyline, the studios had to abide by it. Why? On 20th July, Japan’s elections to select members of the House of Councillors, also known as the Japanese General Election, were held.

One Piece and Gachiakuta Episodes Postponed for Japan Elections

Due to Japan’s general elections, the 3rd episode of Gachiakuta and the 1137th episode of One Piece are delayed by 1 week. While initially both episodes were scheduled to release on July 20th, 2025, now, they’re...

The New Season of One of the Most Popular Anime Series Ever Returns to the Netflix Global Top 10
Image
The anime season is officially on in Japan, and this means that fans on this side of the world will also be able to follow it, with simultaneous releases being doled out by streaming platforms. One of the most anticipated titles from this summer, DanDaDan, is already rolling out new episodes, and its numbers on Netflix suggest that this season of the hit anime series will be even more popular than the previous one.

After two episodes were released, Netflix unveiled streaming numbers this past week, and what immediately stood out was the fact that, in just one week, DanDaDan has managed to climb the Netflix charts and take the #4 spot among the most-watched non-English titles on the platform. This past week, DanDaDan raked in 5.4 million views — Season 1 averaged 1-3 million views per week back in 2024, and it still managed to become one of the most-streamed titles on the platform.

The Most Underrated Anime of 2025 Is in the Same League as ‘Berserk’ and ‘One Piece’
Image
2025 has been one of the best years for anime. From Solo Leveling season 2, Dandadan season 2 to The Apothecary Diaries, some of the best series have been airing this year, with plenty more to come. However, there is one anime that rivals Berserk and One Piece, yet is being ignored by most viewers.

The anime in question is Grand Blue Dreaming, which has returned with its second season after seven long years of break. It is an A-Lister in the comedy department, yet it has been overshadowed and almost forgotten, and season 2 isn’t nearly getting the same attention as it deserves.

Summer 2025 Anime Season Has Overshadowed a Comedy Masterpiece

Summer 2025 has turned out to be not only one of the best seasons but also one of the most crowded ones. Plenty of well-known anime like Dandadan, My Dress-Up Darling, Kaiju No. 8, Sakamoto Days, Call of the Night, and Dr.

Gachiakuta Episode 1 & 2 Review: Just The Right Momentum To Build On!
Gachiakuta (2025)
Coming into Gachiakuta anime, my expectations were, to put it mildly, sky-high. Partly because I am a manga reader, who is very invested in the story. But then, even for a newbie, it would’ve been hard to ignore the deafening buzz surrounding a series.

It was given life by the powerhouse animators at Studio Bones— its sub-studio Bones Film to be precise —and fueled by a manga fanbase that speaks of the source material in hushed, reverent tones. With a “world takeover” promotion push rolled out by Crunchyroll, Gachiakuta was supposed to be the next big thing.

After watching the first two episodes (at the premiere held in Mumbai by Crunchyroll), I found myself completely sold on the idea. But yes, its not as if there ain’t any reservations.

First things first, Gachiakuta presents a world that is dripping with style, has a fascinatingly grim premise, along with moments of genuine artistic brilliance.

2 Major Anime Delays Announced, Revealing a Summer Season Break
Image
As Japan heads into its national election season, some of this summer’s hottest anime titles are adjusting their schedules to make way for live coverage, including One Pieceand Gachiakuta. Fans of long-running and new series alike will notice brief pauses in their weekly viewing routines. Two high-profile titles, One Piece and Gachiakuta, are both taking a short break.

While these delays are temporary, they land at pivotal points in each series. With anticipation building for key plot developments, fans will need to hold on a little longer. The timing reflects how major national events can still impact even the biggest names in anime broadcasting.

Turning a Blind Eye to ‘Gachiakuta’ Might Come Back to Haunt Us in the Future
Image
The world of Gachiakuta demonstrated our own future if we refuse to pay heed to nature’s warning signs. In episode 2 of the anime, it is explained that most humans actually live on the Sphere, a mobile floating island that is suspended in the sky. The Sphere is also referred to as Heaven at times.

However, those who live on the Sphere, or Sphereites, dump all their trash on the ground relentlessly. The Sphereites believe that no one remains alive on the ground and refer to it as a Pit. People have forgotten that it is actually the surface of the world and not an underground area. This scenario serves as a grave warning for us, the people who live in a pre-Gachiakuta era.

‘Gachiakuta’ Episode 3 Already Faces an Unexpected Setback
Image
Two episodes in, and Gachiakuta is already facing complications with its airing schedule. The official X handle of the anime revealed that Gachiakuta episode 3 will be delayed by an entire week. This is due to a special election coverage that will be broadcast on the same day as the episode’s release schedule.

The series was already having a hard time connecting its audience with its protagonist and his story. The delay might make it even harder for the series to regain its streak.

Gachiakuta Episode 3 Delayed by a Week

Episode 3 of Gachiakuta was originally supposed to be out on Sunday, July 20, 2025. However, after the latest announcement, the new release date of episode 3 is Sunday, July 27, 2025, due to Japan’s Election Day.

The election will receive special coverage that will be aired during the timeslot of Gachiakuta. In fact, One Piece anime will also suffer the same fate since it airs just before Gachiakuta.

Crunchyroll's Biggest Anime of Summer 2025 Fails to Make a Splash on Streaming
Image
Despite high hopes for Gachiakuta, one of the most highly anticipated series of the Summer 2025 anime season has struggled to match its reputation, even with an entire "world takeover" in celebration of the new release. Gachiakuta is streaming on Crunchyroll in North America, as well as being accessible on Prime Video via Crunchyroll and via Netflix in some regions of Asia.

Although the anime feels incredibly easy to watch, the streaming charts have not reflected this accessibility, nor its reputation as one of the best anime of the new season. Per FlixPatrol, while series such as Squid Game and The Sandman on Netflix and We Were Liars and Ballard on Prime Video have dominated the streaming charts this week for worldwide viewers, Gachiakuta has so far failed to rank at all on either streaming service. Its lack of appearance follows more than one anime title consistently making it into the...
