The film earned scores of 64% from critics and 58% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but it grossed a whopping $286 million globally against a $115 million budget.

A new challenger has entered the Top 10 on MGM+. Ben Affleck's 1998 sci-fi disaster film Armageddon has arrived on the streaming charts.

According to FlixPatrol, as of Aug. 7, Armageddon is ranked No. 10 on MGM+'s Top 10 Overall chart in the United States. Much like the asteroid in the movie, Armageddon has burst onto the streaming chart and will now try to climb up the ranks as a worthy group of hit shows and movies try to stop its climb. First in Armageddon's path is Jason Statham's 2024 sleeper hit The Beekeeper at No. 9, followed by the fan-favorite '80s buddy cop movie Lethal Weapon at No. 8 and Jack Quaid's action-comedy Novocaine at No. 7. Luckily for Armageddon, Lethal Weapon and Novocaine are down from where they were yesterday, which suggests that they may be on their way off the streaming chart.

For the first time in weeks, The Accountant 2 has been displaced from the top spot on the Prime Video streaming charts. The movie that did it was Heads of State, an action comedy starring John Cena, Idris Elba, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. It shot straight to the number one spot after debuting midweek on the streaming service, and appears to be holding its position. Heads of State features Cena as the President of the United States, who gets lost in Europe after an attack on Air Force One with only Elba's British Prime Minister for company. The trouble is that they don't exactly see eye to eye. This is where Chopra Jonas' MI6 agent comes in.

According to FlixPatrol, Heads of State earned 505 points on its first day of release on Prime Video, and 510 points on its second. On both days, The Accountant 2 finished second on the charts.

Netflix is celebrating its Tudum event with a bevy of announcements, including the release of the trailers for Happy Gilmore 2, Stranger Things season 5 and a sneak peek at the new season of Wednesday. The event additionally presented the trailer for the upcoming Ben Affleck and Matt Damon crime film The Rip, which has not yet made its way online. Additionally, Sesame Street was recently announced to be premiering new episodes on the streaming platform in conjunction with PBS.

As part of the festivities, Netflix released a short, humorous video with both Affleck and Damon first occupying their Miami police characters from The Rip, as they attempt to bust Sesame Street‘s Cookie Monster, who then breaks the illusion by complimenting the actors (Damon is even seen sporting his Odyssey beard). Filmmaker Joe Carnahan's newest movie, Shadow Force, is getting released on May 9. Ahead of the movie's arrival, Carnahan opened up about Shadow Force in a new interview in which he also shared his thoughts on the superhero genre.

Grae Drake of Cbr spoke about films with Carnahan, whose previous work includes Narc, Smokin' Aces, and Copshop. They touched on Carnahan's mood reel he developed for a pitched Daredevil movie that he never got to make, which would have had a similar tone to his other films. He went on to clarify that while a couple of his films came somewhat close to the superhero genre, he now feels like these are the kinds of movies and TV shows he'd rather just enjoy as a fan without taking them on himself. Carnahan compared it to how he feels about Star Wars, though in that case, he's not expecting Lucasfilm to come knocking anyway.

Earlier this year, we got our first look at Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in the upcoming Netflix thriller The Rip, and now we have another look at the grizzled appearance of the two buddies who star in the crime film that examines the things people do for money. This marks Damon and Affleck's first time on screen together since 2023's Air, though the duo have collaborated on numerous projects since then, including The Accountant 2, which Affleck starred in and Damon executive produced.

Considering every single television show Taylor Sheridan has under his belt, it was only a matter of time before one of them made it into IMDb's Top 250 TV series. What's even more impressive, however, is that two have made the cut so far. 

Among the extensive list of outstanding television, including everything from "Breaking Bad" to "The Office" and the best superhero TV show of all time, "Batman: The Animated Series," a pair of Sheridan's critically acclaimed and immensely popular series have, in fact, made their way into the website's top 250. It may also come as no surprise that the duo in question aren't so much cut from the same cloth as they're part of the same family quilt passed down from one generation to another per Dutton family tradition. Yep, "Yellowstone" and its gritty, unforgiving prequel series, "1883," are both highly-regarded among IMDb users, and understandably so.

Yellowstone may be getting a new spin-off on CBS featuring a popular Dutton! Here’s what we know so far!

Yellowstone was easily one of the biggest hit shows of the last few years. The Taylor Sheridan drama starred Kevin Costner as John Dutton, owner of a massive Montana ranch who fought to keep it alive against various threats, which often included his own children.

The show was a massive success that inspired numerous prequel spin-offs, such as 1883 and 1923. However, after a very public (and very complex) falling out between Sheridan and Costner, Costner left the show halfway through its fifth and final season.

More Yellowstone spin-offs are in the works

The show wrapped up with plans for a spin-off starring Kelly Reilly’s Beth and Cole Hauser’s Rip. There are also plans for a show set in the same universe, The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and a spinoff starring Matthew McConaughey.

Steven Yeun has joined the cast of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies’ untitled animated Aang “Avatar” film.

It’s not yet clear which of the Four Nations Yeun may hail from, as character details are being kept under wraps. Yeun joins previously announced cast members Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten and Román Zaragoza.

Lauren Montgomery is directing and William Mata is co-directing the film, which is based on the series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” created by Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko. The movie is slated for release on Jan. 30, 2026.

Yeun was previously involved in “The Legend of Korra,” also part of the Airbender universe. He voiced Wan, the first Avatar. An Oscar nominee for his work in Lee Isaac Chung’s 2020 film “Minari,” Yeun is currently in production on Ben Affleck’s “Animals” for Netflix.

This comes almost exactly one month before the sequel, The Accountant 2, hits theaters everywhere. J.K. Simmons and John Lithgow also star in the film, which earned scores of 53% from critics and 77% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Accountant 2 has already been set for release on April 25, but the film recently premiered at SXSW, and early reviews paint it as a sequel even better than the original.

Action filmmaker Joe Carnahan (“Narc”) is working at a pretty quick clip again. After a busy 2020-2021—”Boss Level” and “Cop Shop” nearly back to back—he returns in 2025 with two movies. Special forces agencies should always know never to mess with the families of former agents. Joe Carnahan, who has brought us films like Narc, Smokin’ Aces, The Grey, The A-Team and the upcoming Rip, directs a new action film that he penned with Leon Chills called Shadow Force. The movie brings us a couple with a particular set of skills and is played by Kerry Washington and Omar Sy. The cast also includes Mark Strong, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Cliff “Method Man” Smith. The trailer just dropped from Lionsgate.

The official synopsis reads,

“In Shadow Force, Kyrah (Washington) and Isaac (Sy) were once the leaders of a multinational special forces group called Shadow Force. They broke the rules by falling in love, and in order to protect their son, they go underground. With a large bounty on their heads, and the vengeful Shadow Force hot on their trail, one family’s fight becomes all-out war.

A new Yellowstone spinoff is reportedly in development as Beth and Rip's show gets a filming update, with the series' universe continuing to expand. The upcoming Beth and Rip Yellowstone spinoff will see Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprise their roles from the original series, their stories continuing after the end of the flagship western. Since the original ranch was sold back to the Broken Rock Reservation at the end of the show, the couple's new series will see them building a new life together beyond the bounds of the Dutton family's heritage.

Ben Affleck secures a reunion with a fellow DC Extended Universe alum for his star-studded Netflix film, Animals. The acclaimed actor and producer recruits Justice League co-star Ray Fisher for the anticipated crime thriller.

Per Variety, Fisher is one of multiple new additions to the Animals cast, joining in an undisclosed role. Fisher joins the feature-length project alongside Christopher Woodley, known for his leading role in Our Son and a guest feature in Law and Order: Svu. Additionally, Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Mark Kassen has joined, having previously been a showrunner of several scripted, reality and documentary series across Fox, MTV and AMC, among other networks.
