Ben Affleck recently returned to his famous role of Christian Wolff in The Accountant 2, but long before he ever played the character in the 2016 action film, he starred in a critically panned WWII movie that’s finally coming back to streaming. Affleck stars alongside Josh Hartnett (Oppenheimer) and Kate Beckinsale (Canary Black) in Pearl Harbor, the 2001 epic telling the story of two lifelong friends and a nurse who are caught up in the horror of an infamous Sunday morning in 1941. Matt Damon is currently hard at work filming The Odyssey, the next film from Christopher Nolan, but 12 years ago, he starred in a twisty sci-fi film that has resurrected on streaming charts. Damon stars alongside Diego Luna (Andor) and Jodie Foster (The Silence of the Lambs) in Elysium, the 2013 film set in the year 2154 during a time when wealthy people live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population struggles to scrape by on a dying Earth. Elysium is streaming on Rakuten TV globally, where it’s become one of the most popular movies for the streamer in several countries, including Albania and Serbia. The film earned scores of 64% from critics and 58% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but it grossed a whopping $286 million globally against a $115 million budget.

A new challenger has entered the Top 10 on MGM+. Ben Affleck's 1998 sci-fi disaster film Armageddon has arrived on the streaming charts.
According to FlixPatrol, as of Aug. 7, Armageddon is ranked No. 10 on MGM+'s Top 10 Overall chart in the United States. Much like the asteroid in the movie, Armageddon has burst onto the streaming chart and will now try to climb up the ranks as a worthy group of hit shows and movies try to stop its climb. First in Armageddon's path is Jason Statham's 2024 sleeper hit The Beekeeper at No. 9, followed by the fan-favorite '80s buddy cop movie Lethal Weapon at No. 8 and Jack Quaid's action-comedy Novocaine at No. 7. Luckily for Armageddon, Lethal Weapon and Novocaine are down from where they were yesterday, which suggests that they may be on their way off the streaming chart.

John Wick: Chapter 4 star Scott Adkins continues to cement himself as the best-kept secret in action movies, with the actor now combining martial arts spectacle with the drama of war in the first trailer for his upcoming action thriller, Prisoner of War. The movie was picked up for distribution by Well Go USA at the end of last year, with Prisoner of War now all set to land on VOD on September 19, 2025, in the United States. Ted Sarandos has always had an uncanny grasp of titles and stars, conjuring them in his pre-internet days as a video store clerk and dropping them frequently during his 25-year run at Netflix.
Even by those standards, however, the Co-CEO may have set a personal record on Thursday, machine-gunning out the names of no fewer than 37 series, films and events soon to stream Netflix. The spree during a 3-minute stretch of the company’s second-quarter earnings call coincided with the company disclosing viewership for thousands of series and movies in its semi-annual “data dump.”
Unlike other companies’ calls, Netflix’s are livestreamed on YouTube. (Watch a replay here.) Questions submitted by analysts are read by Spencer Wang, call moderator and VP of finance, investor relations and corporate development.

Although Liam Neeson claimed that he was going to quit action movies some years ago, he's still at it. The recently released Ice Road: Vengeancedidn't make much noise at the box office and earned poor reviews, suggesting that Neeson is probably flogging a dead horse at this point. His last few action-thrillers — Absolution, Retribution, Memory, Blacklight, and The Marksman — also underperformed at the box office. In fact, his last major hit in the genre was The Commuter, which was released all the way back in 2018. But a few years before that, it seemed as if Neeson couldn't miss. And one of his best films of that era, The Grey, has now found a new streaming home on Tubi.
Directed by Joe Carnahan, The Grey subverted expectations and grossed over $80 million worldwide, against a reported budget of $25 million. Neeson played a grizzled security guard working at a remote Alaskan oil rig,...

For the first time in weeks, The Accountant 2 has been displaced from the top spot on the Prime Video streaming charts. The movie that did it was Heads of State, an action comedy starring John Cena, Idris Elba, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. It shot straight to the number one spot after debuting midweek on the streaming service, and appears to be holding its position. Heads of State features Cena as the President of the United States, who gets lost in Europe after an attack on Air Force One with only Elba's British Prime Minister for company. The trouble is that they don't exactly see eye to eye. This is where Chopra Jonas' MI6 agent comes in.
According to FlixPatrol, Heads of State earned 505 points on its first day of release on Prime Video, and 510 points on its second. On both days, The Accountant 2 finished second on the charts.

Before Ben Affleck reasserted his franchise credentials with The Accountant and its follow-up, the recently released The Accountant 2, he'd previously made an attempt to appeal to the dads of America with The Sum of All Fears. Affleck played the popular CIA analyst Jack Ryan in the movie, based on Tom Clancy's book of the same name. It was Affleck's only time playing the character, who'd go on to be rebooted twice again. The Sum of All Fears debuted recently on Netflix, and immediately made a dent on the viewership charts.

What's your favorite Batman performance to date? For some, it's an easy pick. Even if your top choice isn't Ben Affleck from Zack Snyder's DC Universe, fans were certainly excited to see the Caped Crusader face off against the Man of Steel in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice back in 2016. Affleck won the part over a number of actors who auditioned for the coveted superhero role, including underrated action legend Scott Adkins (Undisputed), as confirmed during MovieWeb's recent interview with the action star. MovieWeb caught up with Adkins while he was promoting his latest filmDiablo, and the famed martial artist noted that his connection to Affleck didn't end with Batman. They'll be spotted together in Netflix's upcoming film The Rip.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 8!Scott Gimple has addressed Steven Yeun's potential return as Glenn in The Walking Dead following The Walking Dead: Dead City's season 2 finale. Glenn's death has been hanging over Dead City season 2 since the start, with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) still feeling like she needs to avenge her husband after Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed him in the original show. This became more apparent when she watched the former antagonist kill Bruegel (Kim Coates) in the season finale, the final blow being the same her husband suffered from Lucille.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Tatiana Hullender about The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 finale, chief content officer Scott Gimple explained Glenn's return has been considered. The franchise creative explained how, while the idea for his return exists, the logistics wouldn't be easy to bring about due to Yeun's busy schedule.

Matt Damon is in the middle of filming his next movie with Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey, but the most recent film from the star has been quietly dominating streaming charts for over six months. Damon stars alongside Casey Affleck and pop star Jack Harlow in The Instigators, a buddy comedy following two robbers who go on the run after a theft doesn’t go as they hoped. The Instigators was released on Apple TV+ last year on August 2, and the film has found sustained streaming success as it approached its first anniversary, charting in the Apple TV+ top 10 in more than 30 countries around the world. The Instigators was not well-received by critics or fans, earning a 40% from the former on Rotten Tomatoes and a 56% from the latter on the audience-driven Popcornmeter.

Directed by Gus Van Sant, the drama film Good Will Hunting is best remembered for having established Matt Damon as a movie star, and for winning him and his childhood buddy Ben Affleck the Best Original Screenplay Oscar. Affleck played a supporting role in the film, which recently landed on the Paramount+ streaming service and immediately drew attention. Good Will Hunting is also remembered for featuring a landmark supporting performance by the late Robin Williams, but what many fans might not know is that an unlikely pop-culture icon played a crucial role in getting the movie made.
Good Will Hunting was released at the peak of the Miramax era in 1997, which was when the indie filmmaker Kevin Smith was gaining ground. It's safe to say 2003 wasn't the best of years for Ben Affleck, as he was the face of several critically panned films, including Daredevil and the historically bad Gigli alongside then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. However, another dud from that year has garnered newfound momentum on streaming, with Paycheck becoming a Netflix hit.
Per Flix Patrol, Paycheck, a sci-fi action blockbuster starring Affleck alongside Uma Thurman, is on Netflix's top 10 movies chart at the time of writing, locked in at #6 after accumulating 376 points since its Jun. 1 debut. The film joins a list that's topped by Widow's Game and also features Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Nonnas and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
What Is Paycheck About?
Directed by John Woo, Paycheck sees Affleck play Michael Jennings, a top reverse engineer who specializes in helping corporations figure out the secrets behind their competitors' products. After doing the deed, he erases his memory to avoid remembering his acts.

Netflix's third live marketing "fan event" — the onomatopoeic Tudum — is back for the third year, this time taking over The Forum in Los Angeles, California, after two huge convention-level events in Brazil in 2020 and 2023. And guess what? We're live-blogging it! Isn't that fun? Who doesn't love a live blog? It's like working in digital media in the 2010s all over again!
Expected to last anywhere between 90 and 120 minutes, Tudum 2025 is said to feature several reunions and reveals from the casts of Squid Game,Stranger Things, and Wednesday— three series returning this year (with the former two mentioned ending their game-changing runs for the streamer). It is also expected that Lady Gaga will perform several songs — including her tune "Bloody Mary," which went viral as the backing track for fans doing Wednesday Addams' iconic dance from Season 1. Does anyone else think we'll get a sneak peek at the singer's Season 2 cameo?...

They say, “The devil is in the details”, but sometimes, the devil is in the delivery. That’s what we muttered under our breath the moment we heard Billy Bob Thornton speak about the uncertain state of Taylor Sheridan’s Landman Season 2.
We’re not in the clear here. After a record-breaking, oil-slicked rise to acclaim, Landman is now stuck in a disconcerting limbo. Thornton, the silver-tongued titan playing Tommy Norris, just admitted he hasn’t seen the full script. What, half the season? Really? For a creator like Sheridan, this smells of déjà vu. How?
Haven’t we seen this rodeo during Yellowstone’s foggy fifth season? Are we repeating the same mistake, rewriting without a compass, letting improvisation walk in where structure once stood proud? Or is this just another trick up Sheridan’s hat? Either way, we’ve got thoughts. Let’s drill deeper.
Taylor Sheridan’s magic is a one-man symphony…...

Over the course of his three-decade-long career as a leading man in Hollywood, Ben Affleckhas headlined all kinds of movies. His latest, The Accountant 2, is on the verge of passing a major global box office milestone, but has already helped Affleck's career earnings touch the majestic $2.5 billion mark domestically. He's already one of the 60 most successful leading actors in domestic box office history, and has recently overtaken a trio of celebrated peers in box office rankings.
Thanks to The Accountant 2's nearly $60 million domestic haul, Affleck has shot passed stars such as Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Natalie Portman. He has also overtaken Ewan McGregor and Ian McKellen, both of whom have major franchise films under their belt. Filmmaker Joe Carnahan's newest movie, Shadow Force, is getting released on May 9. Ahead of the movie's arrival, Carnahan opened up about Shadow Force in a new interview in which he also shared his thoughts on the superhero genre.
Grae Drake of Cbr spoke about films with Carnahan, whose previous work includes Narc, Smokin' Aces, and Copshop. They touched on Carnahan's mood reel he developed for a pitched Daredevil movie that he never got to make, which would have had a similar tone to his other films. He went on to clarify that while a couple of his films came somewhat close to the superhero genre, he now feels like these are the kinds of movies and TV shows he'd rather just enjoy as a fan without taking them on himself. Carnahan compared it to how he feels about Star Wars, though in that case, he's not expecting Lucasfilm to come knocking anyway.

I had read quite a lot of comments about The Coffee Table before I had seen it, but pretty much all of them said something along the lines of “watch The Coffee Table knowing as little about the film as possible.” And those kinds of comments make it a very difficult film to review because they are absolutely right. You want to know as little about The Coffee Table before you see that. With that said, I will indeed keep my review spoiler-free. But I will have to write a little bit more!
The Coffee Table focuses on newly-turned parents, Jesus and Maria. Despite just becoming parents they are going through a tough time. It wasn’t easy getting pregnant, and Jesus suggests he wasn’t really ‘ready’ to have a child,...

What Do We Know About the upcoming Yellowstone spin-off series focused on Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler? More than you may think. The Paramount+ series is slated to continue where the original Yellowstone left off. From plot, casting news, and more, lets dive in and take a look at what is coming up in the new addition to the Yellowstone franchise.
What is the spin-off about?
While the final episode of Yellowstone was teased as a season finale rather than a series ender, news reports have been circulating since the January 1, 2023 mid-season finale of the fifth season. With a contentious public squabble between series creator Taylor Sheridan and star Kevin Costner regarding the iconic actor wanting more time to work on his passion project, Horizon: An American Saga, Yellowstone was stuck trying to wrap up the season without its leading man. With the SAG-AFTRA and Writer’s Guild strikes delaying things further,...

Considering every single television show Taylor Sheridan has under his belt, it was only a matter of time before one of them made it into IMDb's Top 250 TV series. What's even more impressive, however, is that two have made the cut so far.
Among the extensive list of outstanding television, including everything from "Breaking Bad" to "The Office" and the best superhero TV show of all time, "Batman: The Animated Series," a pair of Sheridan's critically acclaimed and immensely popular series have, in fact, made their way into the website's top 250. It may also come as no surprise that the duo in question aren't so much cut from the same cloth as they're part of the same family quilt passed down from one generation to another per Dutton family tradition. Yep, "Yellowstone" and its gritty, unforgiving prequel series, "1883," are both highly-regarded among IMDb users, and understandably so.

Yellowstone may be getting a new spin-off on CBS featuring a popular Dutton! Here’s what we know so far!
Yellowstone was easily one of the biggest hit shows of the last few years. The Taylor Sheridan drama starred Kevin Costner as John Dutton, owner of a massive Montana ranch who fought to keep it alive against various threats, which often included his own children.
The show was a massive success that inspired numerous prequel spin-offs, such as 1883 and 1923. However, after a very public (and very complex) falling out between Sheridan and Costner, Costner left the show halfway through its fifth and final season.
More Yellowstone spin-offs are in the works
The show wrapped up with plans for a spin-off starring Kelly Reilly’s Beth and Cole Hauser’s Rip. There are also plans for a show set in the same universe, The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and a spinoff starring Matthew McConaughey.

One of Ben Affleck’s most underrated movies has become a streaming hit nearly 10 years after its release. Affleck stars alongside Jon Bernthal and Anna Kendrick in The Accountant, the 2016 conspiracy thriller following Christian Wolff (Affleck), a math guru who does some work for a dangerous client that leads to a rising body count with the Treasury Department on his tail. The Accountant began streaming on Prime Video not long ago and earned a spot in the top 10, sitting at #9 at the time of writing. This comes almost exactly one month before the sequel, The Accountant 2, hits theaters everywhere. J.K. Simmons and John Lithgow also star in the film, which earned scores of 53% from critics and 77% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Accountant 2 has already been set for release on April 25, but the film recently premiered at SXSW, and early reviews paint it as a sequel even better than the original.

A new Yellowstone spinoff is reportedly in development as Beth and Rip's show gets a filming update, with the series' universe continuing to expand. The upcoming Beth and Rip Yellowstone spinoff will see Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprise their roles from the original series, their stories continuing after the end of the flagship western. Since the original ranch was sold back to the Broken Rock Reservation at the end of the show, the couple's new series will see them building a new life together beyond the bounds of the Dutton family's heritage.
Now, a report from Puckclaims that a new Yellowstone spinoff is currently in development from creator Taylor Sheridan, although no story details have been revealed as of writing. I don’t know what’s crazier: The fact that “The Day the Earth Blew Up” is the first fully-animated “Looney Tunes” feature ever released in theaters, or that Warner Bros. — who first commissioned the project for HBO Max (Rip) before shopping it around to other buyers — was so determined to prevent the film from achieving its destiny.
Can a fun, slap-happy, and beautifully animated buddy comedy fronted by some of the most famous cartoon characters of all time and budgeted at 8.57% the cost of “Inside Out 2” really be that big of a risk? New distributor Ketchup Entertainment is certainly hoping to prove otherwise, and they’re doing so with the benefit of a movie that’s very much about the joy and importance of preserving the classics long after they’ve gone out of fashion.
