5/10

Quite entertaining and can be more

Don Dukun blends drama, comedy, and Nusantara culture with a nationalistic undertone, aiming to entertain but falling short in execution.

While the story has an intriguing premise with themes of deception and morality, it is hindered by an overabundance of characters that dilute the central narrative. Strong lead performances are overshadowed by a cluttered script and unnecessary subplots.

Despite its flaws, the film offers humor, vibrant visuals, and moments of brilliance. Not groundbreaking, but a fun, light watch for casual viewers. With better focus, it could have truly stood out, they just missed the opportunity.

A terrible, terrible film

I'm quite surprised that this movie have a 7.0 plus rating. It's a childish film intended for adults? I don't know.

Malaysian movies have been churning out trash after trash that i don't think the country have good taste in movies. This movie belongs to this rule.

Instead of providing a social commentary in satirical way on Malaysia's chokehold believe on the superstitions, it instead deliver on a harry potter-esq battles, unintelligent comedy and an embrace on the possibility that most shamans are not scammers in real life.

3 stars for the three things i love about the movie: 1. Good casting and chemistry between Zul Arifin and Ropie 2. Cinematography on point (sometimes) 3. Family drama (although not properly executed)

Final verdict: Disappointing to say the least.
