Last week's major new release, Disney's Snow White, is set to maintain its grip on the top spot at the domestic box office this weekend, as it struggles to pass the $100 million mark. Snow White will have to contend with this week's new release, theJason Statham action vehicle A Working Man. The counter-programmer unites Statham with his The Beekeeper director David Ayer, who is still trying to reclaim a spot on the A-list after the disappointing critical performance of Suicide Squad almost a decade ago. A Working Man debuted to inferior reviews compared to The Beekeeper. And this isn't the only category in which it finds itself trailing that film.
A Working Man was released in 3,262 theaters nationwide. By comparison, The Beekeeper was launched in 3,303 locations in January last year. The movie grossed over $65 million domestically and a little more than $150 million worldwide, against a reported budget of $40 million. It...

Whether he’s an ex-assassin-turned-beekeeper, or an assassin posing as a mechanic, an ex- Special Forces soldier dragged out of retirement for one last mission, or even just a run-of-the-mill unlicensed street salesman, Jason Statham always brings a gritty magnetism to the screen. Even when what’s playing on the screen has been panned by both critics and audiences alike. Such is the case with the 2013 action thriller, Parker, which is now headed to free streaming.
But, while Parker may have been panned at the time, it’s worth a watch for anyone looking for a reliably charming performance from The Stath, who once again demonstrates his particular set of skills in this tale of a professional thief who finds himself double-crossed and left for dead.
Directed by Taylor Hackford and written by John J. McLaughlin, Parker sees Jason Statham team-up with Jennifer Lopez while facing off against The Shield star Michael Chiklis.

Jason Statham is getting ready to clock in for his shift thanks to the final trailer for his upcoming film, A Working Man. Releasing in cinemas later this week on March 28, the project sees Statham reteam with The Beekeeper helmer, David Ayer, in an action-packed feature based on Chuck Dixon’s 2014 novel, Levon’s Trade. Featuring supporting performances from David Harbour (Stranger Things), Michael Peña (End of Watch), Jason Flemyng and Emmett J. One of the best movies in the repertoire of Jason Statham is all set to hit free streaming. The action star continues to fight the good fight for no-nonsense thrills, but 2021’s Wrath of Man is a little more complex than The Stath’s usual fare. The actor has become well-known for his particular set of skills, expertly throwing his fists, feet and bullets at anyone who dares cross his path, but his movies are often divisive among critics and audiences. Well, this action thriller finds the two groups in agreement: it’s great.
Directed by Guy Ritchie in his fourth collaboration with Jason Statham, and co-written by Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, and Marn Davies, Wrath of Man boasts an impressive supporting cast that includes Holt McCallany, Jeffrey Donovan, Chris Reilly, Josh Hartnett, Laz Alonso, Raúl Castillo, DeObia Oparei, Eddie Marsan, and Scott Eastwood. “All right...let’s play.” Action movie icon Jason Statham does what he does best in a new action-packed clip from this month’s highly anticipated action thriller, A Working Man. Directed by The Beekeeper’s David Ayer, and with a script from Statham’s Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone, A Working Man is set to hit theaters on March 28, 2025, and promises to be another crowd-pleasing action outing much like last year’s surprise hit, The Beekeeper.
You can check out the footage below, which finds The Stath entering the lion’s den where a criminal overlord named Dutch vastly underestimates the granite-jawed killer in front of him. Making the classic mistake of telling his henchmen to “get him,” Statham tears through his assailants with ease, throwing fists, breaking bones, and no doubt resulting in cheers and applause from the audience.

A clip from Jason Statham's soon-to-debut A Working Man has arrived. It showcases one of the brutal, bone-breaking fights audiences can expect from the action movie, which hits theaters this March.
The trailer features Statham's character, Levon Cade, in a fierce brawl with a gang after refusing to confirm he is not a law enforcement agent. The popular Irish band The Dropkick Murphy's The Boys Are Back plays over the exhilarating sequence as Cade breaks a few bones and bashes a couple of heads in. Impressed by Cade, the gang leader halts the violence and shakes their assailant's battle-worn hand, which reassures him Cade is not a cop. "You're a working man," he declares.

Jason Statham’s next action-packed thriller Mutiny is officially on the move. Lionsgate has locked in a January 9, 2026 release date for the film, giving the Transporter star another high-octane project to kick off the new year. Statham loves beginning each year with some pulsating action, it would seem, and this marks the third year in a row that he will bring in the new year with putting some bad guys in the hospital, following The Beekeeper's release last January, A Working Man next month, and now, Mutiny.

Jason Statham’s upcoming film Mutiny has now been given a release date, according to Deadline. Lionsgate has given the new action thriller an opening on January 9, 2026. That weekend is currently not sporting competition from any other films, but it will be following up the opening week of Universal’s M3GAN spin-off Soulm8te, which could be its only formidable challenge at the box office after the popularity of the original M3GAN.
Lionsgate, MadRiver, and Punch Palace are teaming up to release the film in theaters. Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis wrote the screenplay for Mutiny, with principal photography beginning last September in the UK. Statham produces through his newly-founded Punch Palace Productions, with Marc Butan via his MadRiver Pictures studio.

The Beekeeper star Jason Statham continues to fly the flag for wonderfully no-nonsense action movie fare, and his next movie, the Jean-François Richet directed Mutiny, has now been given a release date. Sadly, it’s going to be a little while before we catch The Stath’s next violent vendetta.
As per a report by Deadline, Mutiny will land in theaters next year on January 9, 2026, with Lionsgate putting Statham’s latest action thriller up against Universal’s M3GAN spin-off Soulm8te, which releases the week before on January 2. Other than that, the path is clear for Mutiny to make a killing at the box office on its opening weekend.
Mutiny sees Statham in the role as both star and producer as he joins forces with the director behind 2023’s Gerard Butler-led Plane, Jean-François Richet, with the action outing finding The Mechanic star on the run while uncovering a major global conspiracy.

Another Jason Statham action thriller, Mutiny – this one from the director of Plane – has its US release set for January 2026.
Jason Statham, whose action output appears to be increasing over time, is currently shooting an untitled thriller somewhere in the UK or Ireland as these words are being typed. Meanwhile, an action thriller he shot in the autumn of 2024, Mutiny, now has a US release date – 9th January 2026.
Mutiny is the work of French director Jean-François Richet, who previously brought us the robust Gerard Butler thriller, Plane, which happens to include one of the most unfortunately-named fictional airline companies in film history.
According to Deadline, Statham will star as one Cole Reed, a private security specialist who’s framed for the murder of his billionaire boss. It sort of sounds a bit like 1993’s The Fugitive, though we suspect Statham’s Cole will break more jaws and ribs than Harrison Ford did as Richard Kimble.

Jean-François Richet, the screenwriter, filmmaker and producer behind some of France’s boldest thrillers such as “Mesrine” starring Vincent Cassel, has signed with CAA.
Richet made a splash with his feature debut, “Inner City” (“Etat des lieux”), which was set against the backdrop of a crime-ridden project and scored a César Award nomination. Richet went on direct “Ma 6-t va crack-er” and “Assault on Precinct 13,” a pair of thought-provoking films which also depicted gang violence. His biggest success is the sprawling two-part thriller “Mesrine” with Cassel playing the ruthless, yet charismatic gangster Jacques Mesrine. Richet won best director at Cesar Awards for “Mesrine.” He also directed Mel Gibson in “Blood Father” which played at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.
The filmmaker has now launched the production vehicle Public Enemy and looks to produce six genre films per year.
He recently helmed the action thriller “Plane,” starring Gerard Butler and Mike Colter.

Our rules were that we didn’t want to include films that had screened, but not made it to the UK yet (with the exception of British films). Hence – sorry Kevin – the next Horizon film isn’t on the list. There’s stuff we’re watching for release dates too: Above The Below, Mother’s Pride, All Of You, and such like. We acknowledge too that there’s a Michael Jackson biopic that you won’t find below. Plus superhero films that don’t really need our help, so we limited ourselves to one or two of those.

Clark Gable was the Oscar-winning matinee idol who starred in dozens of films before his untimely death in 1960. Let’s take a look back at 12 of Gable’s greatest movies, ranked worst to best.
After appearing in bit parts in a number of films, Gable shot to stardom with his performance in “A Free Soul” (1931) as a gangster who bewitches a young woman (Norma Shearer) whose attorney father (Lionel Barrymore) helped him beat a murder rap. From there forward, the actor’s persona as a raffish leading man who’s every guy’s best friend and every gal’s dream became cemented in a number of subsequent roles.
He won an Oscar just three years later for Frank Capra‘s screwball classic “It Happened One Night” (1934), in which he played a newspaper reporter traveling with a spoiled socialite (Claudette Colbert). The film became the first to sweep the five major Oscars,...

Action icon and The Beekeeper star Jason Statham is transformed into a video game icon in this concept trailer for a potential Hitman adaptation. Taking footage from Statham’s previous movies, the much-maligned Hitman movies that have already been made, and using a touch of AI (shudder), the footage (via Screen Trailers) demonstrates what a movie led by The Stath as Agent 47 could look like. And no doubt fans of The Mechanic star will be hoping it becomes reality.
The Hitman video games, which follow the mysterious assassin Agent 47 as he travels the world taking out targets assigned to him by the even more mysterious International Contract Agency (Ica), has already been adapted for the big screen twice before. But neither has really satisfied fans of the game, action fans, or, well, anyone, really.

Action star Gerard Butler continues to be hugely popular with audiences as we enter 2025. One of the actor’s best-reviewed movies, 2023’s Plane, is now taking flight on streaming, landing at #4 on Starz in the United States. Boasting a score of 79% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences were even more enamored with this tale of a stranded passenger plane, awarding the movie a hugely impressive 94% on the Popcornmeter. “Check your critical thinking at the gate: The plot's preposterous and loaded with entertaining action, making Plane plenty of good old-fashioned fun,” the audience consensus reads.
Directed by Jean-François Richet and written by Charles Cumming and J. P. Davis, Plane is led by Gerard Butler as pilot Brodie Torrance and Luke Cage star Mike Colter as the mysterious convict Louis Gaspare. Jason Statham has made a name for himself in the action genre over the course of his career. He got his start in music videos in the 1990s, before seeing his breakout role working with director Guy Ritchie in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. He reteamed with Ritchie two years later for Snatch, a movie that would help cement Statham as one of the burgeoning action stars of his generation. Now, Statham is an action staple, and has multiple upcoming projects, including Mutiny and A Working Man.
In addition to one-off hits such as The Bank Job, Statham has been distinguished by his work in action franchises. This includes both the Expendables and Fast and Furious movies, in which he plays a key role in the ensemble. Over the past couple of decades, Jason Statham has risen to be one of the biggest action stars of the modern age, and his next film has the chance to carry him past a significant box office milestone as a leading man. Even during the festive season, action movie icon Jason Statham continues to dominate. Thanks to roles in the likes of The Beekeeper, The Transporter, The Mechanic, and the Fast and Furious movies, Statham has proven time and again how adept he is at driving his fist into your face. But, the actor has also proven how funny he can be while doing that, with his 2015 action-comedy Spy now landing in the global Top 10 on Netflix.
Written and directed by Paul Feig, Spy stars The Stath alongside Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Jude Law, Miranda Hart, and Bobby Cannavale, and follows a CIA analyst who has spent her entire career as a desk jockey suddenly being thrown into the field and going undercover to capture an arms dealer and avenge the death of the organization's best agent. The end of the year is not something to celebrate for Jason Statham fans, as Dec. 31 may be a rather unfortunate day for fans of the action movie actor who are subscribed to Netflix.
As per Netflix, Dec. 31 will mark the last day Statham's The Mechanic and Redemption are available to stream on the platform. Both movies are considered favorites for many fans of the actor. The Mechanic, released in 2011, served as a remake of the 1972 movie starring action genre legend Charles Bronson. Statham's version earned over $76 million at the box office upon release, and despite its initial mixed reviews, the movie has come to a place where it's fondly celebrated by fans as one of the action star's underrated films. It spawned a sequel in 2016's Mechanic: Resurrection, which was a box office hit with over $125 million earned, though

Jason Statham has made a name for himself in the action genre, and his films grossed millions of dollars at the box office. Although the British actor is usually typecast in the action-thriller genre, one of his underrated sci-fi films has become a new hit on streaming platforms.
In 2008, Statham starred in Death Race, which was a remake of the 1975 classic Death Race 2000. The sci-fi, high-octane action thriller has recently switched platforms, and it's already a hit on social media, taking over the Top 10 and positioning itself in the eighth position, ScreenRant reports. The film bested Megamind and Ninja Assasin, making a strong debut on the streaming platform.

Action movie icon Jason Statham knows what he’s good at, and damn if he isn’t one of the best to ever do it, with the charismatic star able to bring any middling action fare at least somewhat to life using his particular set of skills. This is never truer than with the 2013 crime thriller Parker, which adapts one of the novels by the late Donald Westlake, and is all set to stream for free.
While the movie itself was met with mixed reviews at the time, the presence of The Stath never fails to impress, with The Beekeeper star bringing his usual gritty magnetism to the role of a professional thief who finds himself double-crossed and left for dead. Directed by Taylor Hackford and written by John J. McLaughlin, Parker sees Jason Statham team-up with Jennifer Lopez while butting (bald) head with (bald) head against The Shield star Michael Chiklis.

The legendary action movie stars that inspired Jason Statham to become an actor (and the lack of comic book movies on their respective filmographies) explain why he will never do a superhero film. Statham has enjoyed plenty of success in franchise filmmaking, having starred in the Transporter, The Meg, The Expendables, and Fast & Furious series, but hes never appeared in a comic book movie. In an age when revered thespians like Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, and Angela Bassett have all been snatched up by the superhero genre, Statham has managed to avoid it altogether.
There are a few hard-edged superheroes that Statham wouldve been perfect for, like Daredevil, Wolverine, or the Punisher, but he has yet to star in a superhero film. Some of his more absurd action sequences, like his hand-to-hand fight with a megalodon in The Meg or his battle on the outside wall of a skyscraper in Hobbs & Shaw,...

Beta Film’s Serbian thriller “Operation Sabre” – crowned at both Canneseries (best ensemble cast) and Brno’s Serial Killer (best TV show) – and the Latvia-Ukraine co-production “Mutiny” – about a true-life rebellion against the Soviet regime – are among the five high-end series selected for the TV Beats Forum’s inaugural Screening Day at Tallinn Black Nights, kicking off on Nov. 20.
The rest of the curated slate takes in Keshet International’s Finnish mystery thriller “Valhalla Project”; Lithuania’s most expensive series to date, “A Wolf’s Palate,” starring Edward Holcroft; and the Estonian period light crime “Von Fock.”
The showcase will include a screening of one episode of each show, followed by case studies with the key creatives and producers.
The TV Beats Screening Day is the latest effort from the organizers of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival’s and Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event series strand to spotlight, in the most dynamic way,...

Mutiny is currently filming in UK, with Jason Statham starring and the director of Plane calling the shots. More here.
Jason Statham kicked off the year in some style with The Beekeeper. It remains one of the most fun films of 2024, as The Statham managed to kick seven shades of shit out of people, all while tending to his non-metaphorical hive. Sequels would be very much appreciated.
The Statham hasn’t been sitting back and counting the coins from The Beekeeper’s surprise box office success, though. He’s already reteamed with the director of that particular film, David Ayer, for Levon’s Trade. That’s based on a screenplay from Sylvester Stallone, and in turn on the book of the same name by Chuck Dixon. It’s set for release this coming January.
Now though, cameras are rolling on Mutiny, another action thriller that’s shooting in the UK. It...

Jason Stathams latest action thriller, Mutiny, is an exciting prospect thanks to the directors previous actioner and a team-up with a fan-favorite Peaky Blinders actor. As superheroes and other I.P.s are becoming the new movie stars, the traditional movie star is becoming a thing of the past. From Tom Cruise to Leonardo DiCaprio, there are very few actors left whose name alone can draw a big crowd to a movie theater to see their latest starring vehicle. Most modern A-listers rely on the brand name of a franchise to turn their films into blockbuster hits.
But Statham is a consistent hit-maker. Hes never made a direct-to-video movie or even a streaming exclusive; every single one of his movies has gotten a theatrical release. And even in the fraught post-covid times, he can turn an original action movie like The Beekeeper into a massive box office success. At a...

Mutiny starring Jason Statham adds a female lead from Peaky Blinders to the cast. Directed by Jean-Franois Richet, who directed 2023's Plane, Mutiny stars Statham as Cole Reed, a man who finds himself on the run and uncovering a global conspiracy after being set up for the murder of his billionaire boss. Statham produces the action thriller film through his new production company, Punch Palace Productions, with Marc Butan also producing through MadRiver Pictures. The Mutiny script hails from Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis, the latter of whom also wrote Plane.
Deadline now reports that Annabelle Wallis, who memorably played Grace Shelby on Peaky Blinders, has joined Statham in Mutiny. It's not yet clear who Wallis will be playing in the upcoming film and no additional casting has been announced. Filming on Mutiny is set to get underway in the UK this fall, with no release date for the film having been set just yet.
