Beekeeper 2 Filming Update: Director Tjahjanto Shares Exciting Details
Image
The sequel to Jason Statham’s $162 million hit action movie gets an update from the director, and it’s exciting news.

One of worldwide cinema’s most bankable stars, Statham in 2025 has added another hit movie to his list of successes, as the gritty David Ayer-directed A Working Man grossed $100 million on a budget of $40 million.

Statham’s bruising thriller about a former commando seeking to rescue a friend’s kidnapped daughter has also been a hit on streaming. That’s no surprise, as Statham is just as popular on services like Netflix and Prime Video as he is in theaters around the globe.

2026 will see Statham back in theaters with Mutiny, an action thriller about a man wrongfully accused of murder, who goes looking for the real killer. Statham is also set to return in the sequel to his big 2024 hit, which has nabbed The Night Comes For Us...

Gerard Butler and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's Divisive Fantasy Team-Up Is Back on Netflix
Image
Few action stars have built up as impressive a resume as Gerard Butler has over the years, but after starring in 20 years worth of action movies, it’s only natural that there’s going to be some misses. 2016 brought on the release of Gods of Egypt, the fantasy thriller in which Butler stars alongside Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) and Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther). The controversial film had been absent from streaming for a few months now, but Netflix has since made it available to watch for all subscribers. Gods of Egypt was poorly received upon its release, earning “Rotten” scores of 15% from critics and 37% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The film also flopped at the box office, grossing only $150 million at the box office against a $140 million budget.

Gods of Egypt was met with harsh criticism upon its release for poor casting choices, particularly the whitewashing extremely present in...

25 Years Later, Jason Statham’s Second and Arguably Greatest Movie Ever Returns to Streaming Charts
Image
Snatch is a popular VOD hit globally, earning high audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Jason Statham recently celebrated his 58th birthday and has multiple action projects coming up. Guy Ritchie directed Snatch and has collaborated with Statham on multiple action films.

Jason Statham has become known as one of the most legendary action performers of all time, but everyone has to start somewhere. After first starring in Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Statham’s second feature acting role came in Snatch, the 2000 caper crime comedy following a group of boxing promoters, bookmakers, and gangsters who work together to track down a stolen diamond. Snatch is currently streaming for free on Pluto TV in America, but globally, it’s resurfaced in the top 10 on VOD charts in countries such as Latvia and France. The film also stars Brad Pitt (F1: The Movie) and Stephen Graham (Peaky Blinders), and it earned...

Jason Statham's Mutiny Delayed, Aims for Summer 2026 Release
Image
Jason Statham's upcoming action thriller Mutiny has been delayed. Directed by Jean-Francois Richet, the movie stars Statham as Cole Reed, an employee who is set up to take the fall for his boss's murder. With a script from Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis, the Beekeeper star is joined by Annabelle Wallis, Roland Moller, Jason Wong, Ben Catwright, and many others.

Earlier this year, Lionsgate announced that Mutiny would arrive on Jan. 9, 2025, in the week following Universal's M3GAN spin-off Soulm8te.

However, now, according to Deadline, Gerard Butler's Greenland 2: Migration has replaced Mutiny for the Jan. 9 slot, while Statham's new action thriller is eyeing a summer release. Presently, the movie doesn't have a date attached to it. It's also unclear what the reason is behind the delay.

What This Means For Mutiny

Mutiny began production in September 2024 and wrapped in November, and has been in post-production since the beginning of this year.

Jason Statham's Wildly Underrated Sleeper Action Flick Quietly Dominates the Streaming Charts 1 Year Later
Image
Streaming audiences cannot get enough of Jason Statham. At any given time, the actor has at least one or two movies dominating the streaming charts.

According to FlixPatrol, as of Aug. 4, The Beekeeper is ranked No. 10 on MGM+'s Top 10 in the United States, down two spots from the day before. The 2024 action movie has been bouncing between the last few spots on the streamer's Top 10 list for the past week, as Statham fans discover (or rediscover) the well-received David Ayer-directed hit. This isn't the first time that The Beekeeper has performed well on an Amazon-owned streaming service, as the action movie was also frequently in the Top 10 on Prime Video last month.

Unlike Amazon MGM Studios' recent action movie Heads of State, which went straight to Prime Video, The Beekeeper was given a theatrical release, which paid off big time for the studio, as it became a sleeper hit,...

Jason Statham's Action-Packed $529M Movie Re-Emerges On Streaming Charts 7 Years Later
Image
Jason Statham continues his streaming chart dominance, as his $529 million smash-hit action movie from seven years ago takes a bite of out of the HBO Max top 10.

Statham’s status as a streaming superstar was amply demonstrated in late May 2025 when three of his movies – A Working Man, Wrath of Man and The Beekeeper – all hit the Prime Video top 10 at the same time.

The star’s next feature film, an action-thriller titled Mutiny, doesn’t release until 2026. In the meantime, there is no shortage of Statham content online for fans to stream, including one of his biggest-ever hits.

Did Netflix Just Reveal 2 Must-Watch Jason Statham Movies Coming to Streaming Next Month?
Image
Jason Statham’s most recent action epic found success at the box office and streaming on Amazon MGM+, but Netflix may have inadvertently spoiled two huge titles from the star coming soon. The streamer has opened tabs for both The Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Furious 7, and while they’re not available to stream now, it does present the option to remind subscribers when they are. This means both films will likely be available to stream on Netflix soon, possibly even at the beginning of next month. Both were mostly well-received by critics and audiences, and each found financial success. Statham is also expected to return to the Fast & Furious franchise in the 11th and final installment after Fast X teased his reprisal as Deckard Shaw.

Released in 2015, Furious 7 earned an 82% from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and the film also grossed $1.5 billion at the global box office.

The Best Movie in Denzel Washington's Only Franchise Fumbles on Streaming to a Jason Statham Flick That Deserved Better in Theaters
Image
The streaming battle between Jason Statham and Denzel Washington has jumped from Prime Video to Hulu. After tussling with A Working Man last month, The Equalizer 3 is now dealing with Wrath of Man.

Per FlixPatrol, Wrath of Man and The Equalizer 3 have swapped spots on Hulu's Top 10 Movies in the United States list and, as of July 24, are ranked No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. However, the Statham-led Wrath of Man has its work cut out for it if it hopes to move further up the list, as The Amateur, High Rollers, The Assessment, In the Lost Lands, Distant, and Get Away are holding steady in the top six spots. While The Equalizer 3 continues to be popular on streaming, there always seems to be an action flick starring Statham on the same platform that stops it from rising higher on the charts.

Serving as Washington's only headlining franchise,...

Jason Statham's Divisive 42% Rotten Tomatoes Thriller Leaves Streaming Soon
Image
If you’ve been putting off watching Homefront, consider this your official warning: The Jason Statham revenge flick is leaving Prime Video on July 31. Yes, the same film that’s somehow managed to outstream Titanicin 2024 is about to be pulled from your queue — and you really shouldn’t miss your chance to see Statham at his most Southern-fried and skull-shatteringly effective. Released in 2013, Homefront is a blue-collar, bullet-laced action thriller directed by Gary Fleder and written by none other than Sylvester Stallone himself. The premise is peak "Dad Movie": Statham plays Phil Broker, an ex-DEA agent trying to raise his daughter in a sleepy Louisiana town. Unfortunately, this particular town comes with meth labs, backwoods crime, and one James Franco chewing up the bayou as local drug kingpin Gator Bodine. Things escalate. Bones break.

It’s the kind of role Statham was born to play — tight-lipped, tank-topped, and terrifyingly competent in a fight.

Jason Statham’s Stylish Box-Office Disaster With a ‘White Lotus’ Star Is Returning to Streaming
Image
Jason Statham fans are rarely short of something to watch. Since the start of this decade, the British skull-cracker has appeared in a total of eight movies, with another, the action-packed thriller Mutiny, now moved to a January 9, 2026, release date. Because of this, and thanks to countless action flicks from before the current decade, Statham movies are almost a constant in the revolving door of streaming platforms.

One of Statham's most recent flicks, a stylish, star-studded project, is the latest in a long line from his filmography to grace our home viewing, officially joining the ranks of Hulu on July 28, 2025. That movie is the slick 2023 effort Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, which sees Statham portray an elite espionage agent who must join forces with an actor to stop a dangerous threat. Written and directed by Guy Ritchie, the man who gave Statham his big break in one of the best movies of the 1990s,...

Jason Statham's Buzzy Box Office Hit Takes a Surprising Dip on Streaming Charts
Image
The Beekeeper may have stung the box office with a sweet $162.6 million global haul earlier this year, but Jason Statham’s conspiracy-fueled revenge thriller is starting to lose steam on streaming. Despite boasting a strong 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the David Ayer-directed film has dropped down on MGM+’s Top 10 chart as of July 9, according to FlixPatrol. Currently sitting at No. 5 on MGM+, The Beekeeper has slipped behind newer titles but is still outperforming heavy-hitters like Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, The Magnificent Seven, and even Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning. Not bad for a sleeper hit with a modest $40 million budget.

While The Beekeeper is cooling off, Statham’s fans don’t have to worry — he’s still dominating elsewhere. His 2025 film A Working Man, another collaboration with Ayer, is currently No. 1 on MGM+’s Top 10 Overall list. The action star shows no signs of slowing down,...

Jason Statham's $104 Million Beekeeper Predecessor Movie Is Quietly Dominating Streaming
Image
Three years before The Beekeeper, Jason Statham starred in the equally successful action hit Wrath of Man. Now, the movie is finding success on Hulu after being added to the streamer's library at the start of July.

Per FlixPatrol, a day after being added to Hulu, Wrath of Man has already landed on the streamer's Top 10 Movies list, currently sitting in the No. 9 spot. If the Statham-led action movie wants to climb higher on the chart, it will have to go through several popular features, such as the 1996 sci-fi blockbuster Independence Day, the 2013 crime comedy The Heat, the modern Disney classic Holes, and the Liam Neeson drama film Absolution. 12 Years Later, Jason Statham's Divisive 42% Rotten Tomatoes Thriller Remains a Global Streaming Hit

You know what never goes out of style? A bald guy with a British accent punching people in the face. Jason Statham's New Action Thriller Declared "A Classic" by Co-star Naomi Ackie
Image
Action icon and The Beekeeper star Jason Statham will soon unite with frequent Gerard Butler collaborator and Angel Has Fallen director Ric Roman Waugh for what’s sure to be action thriller magic. While several details, including the title of the movie, are being kept under wraps for now, MovieWeb’s own George Edelman had the chance to speak exclusively with Statham’s co-star, Mickey 17 star Naomi Ackie, about the action outing. And the hype train is now chugging...

While Ackie, who has seen her star rise rapidly following outstanding performances in the likes of Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, Blink Twice, and Mickey 17, wasn’t able to give too much away, she did declare the movie “a classic,” before heaping praise on The Stath.

“Oh, it was so much fun. I don't know if I can give anything away. You know, it's, it's such a different,...

Jason Statham and Alan Ritchson Stole the Show in This $714 Million Action Blockbuster That’s Climbing the Streaming Charts
Image
Starz subscribers cannot get enough of the latest installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. Fast X, the tenth mainline entry in the fan-favorite action series, is currently charting on multiple Top 10 streaming lists around the world.

Per Collider, Fast X is currently available to stream on Starz in the United States and for purchase via iTunes in most international territories. During its theatrical run, the action sequel failed to gross over $1 billion worldwide like its predecessors, Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious, earning $714 million at the box office, an amazing amount that any studio wouldn't have scoffed at. Unfortunately, Fast X had a reported production budget of $378 million, meaning that Universal barely made any profit on the movie. However, two years later, audiences are either discovering or rewatching Fast X on streaming, leading it to become one of the few movies that is charting globally right now,...

Jason Statham's 14% Rotten Tomatoes Action Thriller With a 'Tulsa King' Star is Crushing Streaming Opposition
Image
It may have been steamrolled by critics, but Jason Statham's Expend4bles is throwing haymakers on streaming again. The fourth and final installment in the testosterone-fueled Expendables franchise has bulldozed its way back into the Starz top 10 in the last week, and it's all thanks to the unexpected ripple effect of Statham’s newest theatrical hit, A Working Man. Despite debuting with a bruising 14% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, the loud and brash 2023 action thriller has proven once again that audience taste doesn’t always line up with critical consensus. Expend4bles currently holds a far more respectable 69% audience rating, and fans are clearly hungry for more Statham mayhem while revisiting his most recent (and most explosive) team-up with Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren, and Tulsa King’s own Sylvester Stallone.

Expend4bles first dropped in 2023 to grim reviews and a whimper at the box office, seemingly putting a nail in the franchise’s coffin.

Jason Statham's 14-Year-Old Hidden Masterpiece Action Movie Is Now on Peacock
Image
Peacock subscribers who are fans of Jason Statham are in luck. The actor's 2011 action hit The Mechanic is now streaming on the platform.

Released in 2011, the action thriller stars Statham as Arthur Bishop, a professional assassin or 'mechanic,' who specializes in making his hits look like accidents, suicides, and petty criminals' acts. The movie, a remake of the Charles Bronson-led film of the same name from 1972, was a modest box office hit, grossing over $76 million worldwide, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, although Statham's performance and the action sequences were praised.

A sequel, titled The Mechanic: Resurrection, followed in 2016. The follow-up, which was a streaming hit on Max earlier this year, saw Statham return to the role of Bishop, who had foolishly thought he had been able to put his murderous past behind him. However, when his most formidable foe kidnaps the love of his life, he is...

Russell Crowe, Jacob Tremblay, Shailene Woodley & Annabelle Wallis To Star In Ted Kaczynski Thriller ‘Unabom’; Janus Metz Directing For Netflix
Image
Exclusive: Russell Crowe, Jacob Tremblay, Shailene Woodley and Annabelle Wallis have signed on to star in Unabom, a new thriller on domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski to be directed for Netflix and MRC by Janus Metz (Andor).

Inspired by true events, Unabom originated as a spec from Sam Chalsen & Nelson Greaves, the writers behind Radio Silence’s forthcoming Art Bell project, who have developed the film alongside 2.0 Entertainment since its inception. The pic follows Kaczynski’s (Tremblay) transformation from Harvard prodigy into the infamous Unabomber, who carried out a nationwide bombing campaign in the U.S. from 1978-95, killing three people and injuring 23.

Subjected to controversial psychological experiments by Professor Henry Murray (Crowe), Kaczynski’s troubled past resurfaces decades later when his manhunt, led by FBI agent Joanne Miller (Woodley), brings to light the chilling consequences of ambition and isolation.

Sophie Cassidy will produce for 2.0 Entertainment,...

Jason Statham's Hand-to-Hand Combat In $162M Action Thriller Is "Second To None" Despite Low Realism Score From Navy Expert
Image
A Navy expert praises the hand-to-hand combat in Jason Statham's action thriller despite giving it a low rating for realism. Best known for starring in action movie franchises like Fast & Furious and The Expendables, Statham is an established leading action star, having taken on many physically demanding roles in the genre. With a background in martial arts, the actor has a reputation for performing many of his own stunts and choreographing fight sequences.

After being discovered by Guy Ritchie for the director's 1998 debut, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, Statham went on to star in many action movies. Statham's best movies from the past decade include The Meg, The Beekeeper, Wrath of Man, and Spy. His upcoming slate is also primarily occupied by action thriller titles, including Levon's Trade, an untitled Fast X sequel, and Mutiny.

Why Jason Statham’s Working Man Role Might Be His Most Underrated Yet?
Image
Jason Statham’s Working Man ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Jason Statham’s latest action flick didn’t land with a boom in theaters, but make no mistake, A Working Man might just be his most underrated role to date. The David Ayer-directed action thriller quietly hit theaters in the U.S. earlier this year, but didn’t get the box office love it deserved. Now that it’s streaming on Prime Video in the UK and available digitally for rental in the U.S., fans are finally starting to catch on. The catch? It’s still not free for Prime subscribers stateside yet. Still, A Working Man is generating chatter. And deservedly so.

Did Jason Statham Just Drop His Grittiest Role Yet In A Working Man?

This isn’t just another “Statham saves the day” movie. It’s something sharper. Grittier. More grounded. As Levon Cade, a former black ops soldier turned blue-collar worker,...

Jason Statham’s Certified Fresh Heist Thriller Based on a True Story Is Trending on Streaming Charts
Image
Jason Statham fans have already been eating well with the recent release of A Working Man, but one of the older action thrillers from the star has found tremendous streaming success. Statham stars alongside Saffron Burrows in The Bank Job, a 2008 heist thriller based on the true story of the 1971 Baker Street robberies. The Bank Job is streaming on Max in the U.S. and Starz globally, and the film is currently trending on global streaming charts as one of Starz’s 25 most popular movies of the last month. The Statham-led action vehicle earned a “certified fresh” 79% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 70% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. The film grossed $64 million at the box office in 2008 against a modest $20 million budget.

Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais wrote the script for The Bank Job, and Roger Donaldson stepped behind the camera to direct the film. Donaldson’s most recent...

A Trio of Jason Statham Films Are Helping the Action Star Dominate the Streaming Charts
Image
If you're looking for a heart-pumping action film, there may be no better person for the job than Jason Statham — and now the actor's high-octane films are translating into significant streaming success. Three of Statham's recent films are currently sitting in the Top 10 most-streamed movies on Amazon Prime Video, according to FlixPatrol — including his most recent project, A Working Man, which was released just months ago.

A Working Man is sitting in the top spot for Amazon Prime on May 28. The David Ayer-directed film, which follows Statham as a British special soldier-turned construction worker who must track down a Russian mafia plot, leads all films on the platform. Wrath of Man, the 2021 Statham-starrer that reunited him with longtime collaborator Guy Ritchieand tells the tale of a driver who stops a robbery, is currently Number 7 on the Top 10 list. Rounding out the Statham trio is The Beekeeper, the 2024 film starring...

Jason Statham Dominates Prime Video Top 10 List With Three Action Hits
Image
Action star Jason Statham is dominating the Prime Video charts today, with three of his most recent thrillers taking up residence in the Top 10. A Working Man, Wrath of Man, and The Beekeeper are all sitting pretty on the global chart for purchases, rentals, and movies available to subscribers, and all three are in good company among G20, The Accountant, and Another Simple Favor.

Released earlier this year, A Working Man sits at #1 on Prime Video, and rightfully so. As one of the highest-grossing action films of 2025 at the domestic box office, it stars The Stath as Levon Cade, an ex-Royal Marines commando-turned-construction foreman who's tasked with rescuing his boss's daughter from a gang of human traffickers. Grossing nearly $100 million worldwide, A Working Man is Verified Hot on Rotten Tomatoes with an 87% rating from fans, though critics weren't as kind to the film, giving it just a 49%.

Next up is Statham's 2021 hit,...

Jason Statham’s Franchise-Starting Classic Finds a New Streaming Home
Image
As we head into the month of June, Peacock is inviting subscribers to enjoy a heavy dose of high-octane action, as the Jason Statham favorite, The Mechanic, is set for a streaming release. The title will fall in line with numerous other favorites on NBCUniversal’s platform beginning on June 1. This is the perfect opportunity for those who haven’t yet taken the dive into the Statham-led series of films to jump into the action and see what it’s all about. With a 54% critics’ approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s obvious that the movie was a divisive production upon its theatrical arrival in 2011, but given that it eventually received a sequel just a few years later, there’s certainly still plenty to love for the Statham fans out there.

Jason Statham Dukes It Out With a ‘Tulsa King’ Star’s 45% Rotten Tomatoes Disaster Thriller on Streaming Charts

Jason Statham’s new movie, A Working Man, is no longer playing in theaters, but the action thriller has been a major hit on streaming. It’s now been over a month since A Working Man became available for rent or purchase on VOD platforms like Prime Video, and after previously battling it out with other projects like Dark Winds, the film has maintained its course atop the streamer’s charts. At the time of writing, A Working Man still sits at #2 on Prime Video’s digital purchase charts, now holding off Neal McDonough’s Homestead, the disaster thriller that earned 45% from critics and 71% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Both of these scores fall below A Working Man, which earned a 49% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a “verified hot” 87% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter.

Jason Statham Taught His ‘Meg 2’ Co-Stars How to Survive Like Action Heroes
Image
Jason Statham has been starring in action movies for the better part of the last 30 years, and he’s worked with countless stars during his time on sets. Statham is a bit of an enigma — despite having over 40 million followers on social media, he seems to prefer details of his life to be kept private. One actor who has spent considerable time with Statham on the sets of both The Meg and Meg 2: The Trench is Page Kennedy, who portrays DJ in both films opposite Statham’s Jonas Taylor.

Kennedy recently sat down for an interview with MovieWeb to talk about his new movie, A Breed Apart, and he was asked if he has any stories that have stuck with him over the years after his time working with Statham. Kennedy went into detail about the harsh conditions of filming Meg 2 in London in the winter, and how Statham...

Jason Statham’s 14% Rotten Tomatoes Action Thriller With Megan Fox Is a Streaming Hit
Image
Jason Statham’s new movie has officially concluded its theatrical run, but another of his more recent flicks has surged to streaming success over the weekend. Statham stars alongside Megan Fox and Sylvester Stallone in Expend4bles, the 2023 action thriller that concluded the Expendables franchise. Expend4bles has been streaming on Starz for more than a year now, and it even spent more than 200 days atop streaming charts before exiting the top 10 earlier this year. However, the recent release of A Working Man has fans rushing to check out Statham’s filmography, which has propelled the film back into the Starz top 10. Expend4bles was panned by critics upon release, leading to it earning a 14% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience-driven Popcornmeter sits at a much more respectable 69%.

Jason Statham has been extremely busy lately, and things are only going to pick up as the actor has several intriguing projects in the works.

Jason Statham's New & Underrated Action Thriller Quietly Joins Prime Video, but There's a Catch
Image
Jason Statham's newest movie, A Working Man, didn't have the performance it deserved when it was screened in theaters this year. It will now be available to more viewers on streaming, though there's a catch.

Per the Express, A Working Man has been made available to stream in Prime Video in the UK. This is very exciting news for fans of the actor in the UK, as the film has only seen a theatrical release in the United States. A Working Man has also been available digitally in the U.S. for rental or purchase. However, the catch of the film getting made available for Prime Video subscribers in the UK is that it's still not yet there for those in the U.S.

Jason Statham’s 42% Rotten Tomatoes Conspiracy Thriller Is Chasing ‘Reacher’ on Streaming Charts
Image
After opening up the year with A Working Man, one of Jason Statham’s older movies has resurfaced on streaming charts more than 10 years later. Statham stars alongside Stranger Things veteran Winona Ryder in Homefront, the 2013 conspiracy thriller following a former DEA agent who moves to a quiet town but soon begins to get tangled up with a drug lord and his local meth operation. Homefront, which also stars Clancy Brown, hit Prime Video not long ago, and the film has surged into the top 10, sitting at #9 at the time of writing. Homefront falls just behind Reacher, the action series led by Alan Ritchson, which sits at #8. Statham’s action film earned a 42% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience-driven Popcornmeter lands at a slightly higher 61%.

Evil Dead Star's Retro Erotic M3GAN Spinoff Gets a New Release Date
Image
The M3GAN franchise is set to expand beyond the titular robotic doll in 2026. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little longer now before they can see SOULM8TE in theaters.

Per Bloody Disgusting, Universal Pictures has delayed SOULM8TE by exactly one week, moving the erotic thriller spinoff from Jan. 2, 2026, to Jan. 9, 2026. The move means that SOULM8TE no longer has zero competition during its opening weekend, as the Jason Statham action movie Mutiny will also be released that day. While January is typically seen as dumping ground for studios since it's in between the holiday and spring blockbuster seasons, 2026 is so far packed with several anticipated movies, such as Sony's 28 Years Later sequel The Bone Temple (Jan. 16), Chris Pratt's sci-fi thriller Mercy (Jan. 23), and Sam Raimi's return to horror Send Help (Jan. 30).

What Is SOULM8TE About?

Announced in June 2024, SOULM8TE has been described as a modern, technological twist...

Jason Statham Sequel 'The Beekeeper 2' Acquired by Amazon MGM Studios
Image
The Beekeeper 2 is moving forward quickly, as the highly-anticipated sequel has now secured a theatrical distributor and an impending production start. Starring Jason Statham in the title role, The Beekeeper was a revenge thriller released in 2024 that quickly became one of the actor's highest-grossing solo action films. The Stath will return as the nation's lethal protector in a fast-moving sequel that has Amazon buzzing with excitement (and money).

According to Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios has officially acquired the worldwide distribution rights to The Beekeeper 2 in a hefty deal worth more than $50 million. The sequel will begin production this fall, which will be directed by Timo Tjahjanto (Nobody 2), who is taking over the reins after David Ayer helmed the first installment. Kurt Wimmer will return to write the screenplay for the upcoming sequel. Amazon MGM distributed The Beekeeper in 2024 to box office success, grossing $162 million worldwide on a $40 million budget.

Jason Statham's $152.4M Action Movie Emerges On Streaming Charts As Sequel Development Heats Up
Image
Jason Statham is one of the most notable action film actors working today. This year, Statham was in A Working Man, where he played a construction worker who takes matters into his own hands when a young girl vanishes. As was the case with many of Statham's movies, the film was a box office success, making $98.1 million on an estimated $40 million budget. He has a busy slate of upcoming movies that includes Mutiny and Fast X: Part 2.

While he has been in his fair share of one-off movies, franchises have been a huge part of Statham's career. His most notable franchises include the Fast & Furious movies and the Expendables series, wherein he plays members of the ensemble-based films. However, Statham began his career working in standalone movies like Guy Ritchie's Snatch. Now, one of Statham's action movies from last year is getting a sequel, and the 2024 release is a streaming success.

Jason Statham Fans Have a Lot To Look Forward to Next Month
Image
Let’s face it. We could all use a little more Jason Statham in our lives. The British actor is everything that a hero should be and is hands-down one of the best modern action stars around. Fully in agreement with our sentiments, Hulu is cooking up a little something special for Statham fans next month when the streamer will make both The Transporter and The Transporter 2 available to subscribers on May 9. If you’re thinking “there’s something missing,” you’re right, because The Transporter 3 won’t be part of the streamer’s Statham-packed lineup. However, you don’t need the full trilogy when you have the first and second films, especially since the follow-up is celebrating a milestone moment with this year marking its 20th anniversary. That’s right – we’re all old!

In 2002, filmmakers Corey Yuen and Louis Leterrier introduced audiences to Frank Martin, a mercenary...
