Would be good if it didn't turn me into a Zombie by the end.

There is a good movie here. Acting is good, storyline is good and the zombies are a fresh version. There are some ways the story turns and plays with your emotions on the family dynamic that I really liked. The ending does well to wrap up everyone's story arc.

However, the movie drags on so long with very few zombie moments that you will feel like an undead by the end. I am actually a fan of the slow paced zombie films but this one really drags it out. Just when you think things will get exciting it slows back down to it's turtle pace.

This movie would be excellent if it landed at 1:45min run time and maybe one or two more zombie scenes.

You've seen this before

Aside from what I'm assuming is Tagalog and the Filipino aspect, this is a zombie-infested drama everyone is familiar with by now. It does nothing new, as in a world filled with flesh-eating creatures and the real monsters are often other human beings. See the behavior of the average person when pushed to the extreme with no enforcement of rules or norms to adhere to. Pretty standard.

Starts off as a family drama that eventually spirals into a domestic horror. What makes this worth watching is Sid Lucero and Beauty Gonzalez. They're good. Very convincing. It's just enough to take this boilerplate film to its conclusion. The kids try their best but don't quite sell it, and the special effects are adequate but not particularly noteworthy. Neither is the environment/setting, which almost feels as if you're watching the same scene for over two hours.

I don't want to criticize too harshly. It's just that after 12 years of The Walking Dead and countless zombie games + films/spinoffs later, this is nothing special. You watch this for the talent of the aforementioned actors and maybe an appreciation of the language / culture on display. Outside of being an enthusiast, there's not much else to show up for.

a pretty well made zombie flick

Francis, his wife iris and sons lucas and josh are traveling across the country. This movie is set in the post apocolypse so we join the family as they look through houses to try and find some supplies. Its clear they already have one and are trying to find gas for a generator, but we dont see it to later. Though something is wrong with francise and after an encounter with the undead on a bridge he lies and says the car is broken and tries to keep his family in the big mansion they have occupied. It has a limited cast which is good and the wasteland setting has been made well. I like the take on zombies here too. As this time they can talk and look more like the people have been pocessed by something. A little gory but shows the real struggles with trying to keep loved ones alive during the worst possible times. Overall a intersting zombie flick.

Don't even waste your time!

This is honestly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. From start to finish, nothing makes sense. The plot is incoherent, with poorly developed characters that you just can't connect with. It's as if the story is aimlessly drifting without any real purpose or direction. The pacing is excruciatingly slow, dragging on and on, to the point where you're constantly checking the time, wondering when it will finally end.

For a movie that lasts 2 hours and 20 minutes, there's absolutely no payoff. The scenes feel repetitive, and many moments seem completely unnecessary, serving only to bloat the runtime. Any attempt at suspense or drama falls flat because the stakes never feel real or engaging. It's hard to stay invested when you don't care about what's happening or the characters involved.

In the end, this film was a total disappointment, and I can't recommend it to anyone. Save yourself the time-there are far better ways to spend 2 hours and 20 minutes of your life than sitting through this mess.

More on Drama

If you're looking for a movie with lots of zombie action then this isn't for you.

Character's lack of common sense on their actions was also annoying, was excited to watch a new zombie movie but this just wasn't it.

Everything was also sooooo dragged out, sometimes the time and location settings didn't even properly allign that was funny, you'll see what I mean in the scene if you do decide to watch it.

Zombie wise, the zombie designs were pretty nice, but there wasn't really much of an action to the zombie factor.

But their budget probably went to the zombies since they only repeatedly used like 3 - 4 of the same location.

Not What you expected

Sometimes the best way to watch a movie or series is to leave all your expectations before watching it or else many times you get disappointed.

That's what this movie will do if you if you expect it to be a zombie Survival movie.

It deviates from the infamous apocalyptic world survival horror genre to a more of Psychological Horror or Domestic horror genre. If you are watching the movie for a thrill ride like watching a endless Zombie killing spree movie then you shouldn't watch this one.

There are very less Scenes involving zombies but more with violence between different Characters and between Characters and their inner demon.

At the end of the day I enjoyed the movie and it's something different this time.

The acting is top notch, Story felt a little bit dragged but still it was good. Definitely You can give it a try.

Severe gore and violence present so stay away if you can't watch it.

Lackluster

This movie attempts to blend zombie horror with drama (a lot of it), but the execution leaves much to be desired. The film's pacing is slow.

The zombie encounters are infrequent and lack the intensity that would make them thrilling. The drama elements, while well-intentioned, feel forced and unnecessary. Ultimately, I think it fails to deliver on the promise of a satisfying zombie apocalypse film.

If you're looking for a well-executed zombie film with plenty of action and suspense, "Outside" is not the one. It feels like a missed opportunity to create a thrilling and memorable Filipino zombie film.

Its not bad

The only way I could comare this movies is: "If zombie apocolypse meets johnny from the shining."

It was actually an ok film...just a bit dragged a bit, in some places(its over 2 hours long).

The zombies in this are more creepy(to me) than in most other films where they just growl or screech.

It more a story about the main guy slowly decending into madness, with some zombies in between.

The actors did a good job though. The parents played the stress moments really well.

Just wished there was more zombie action in it(hence the 3 star deduction)...it was still worth the watch...it was a good psychological thriller, if anything. You could totally see what happens, happen, with people like that, in their situation.

Zombie Psychological works well.

"Outside" (2024) is not just another zombie movie; it's a gripping psychological horror that delves deep into the human psyche. Directed by Carlo Ledesma, this film masterfully intertwines the terror of a zombie outbreak with the equally harrowing unraveling of a family's darkest secrets. The movie raises questions about trust, forgiveness, and the lengths we go to protect our loved ones. The film excels in creating a claustrophobic atmosphere. The isolated farm, surrounded by the ever-present threat of zombies, becomes a character in itself. The cinematography captures the bleakness of their situation, making the audience feel the weight of their despair "Outside" movie had unique way of portraying zombies, much near to reality and the order of scenes really makes more sense than common zombie movies. The combination of a gripping storyline, complex characters, and emotional depth sets it apart from typical zombie fare.

We Are A Family.

Heartfelt zombie movie, about family love. I really enjoyed this movie, the acting was excellent from all involved. The special effects was good as well. Man escapes with his wife and two sons from a zombie apocalypse to an isolated farm. This drama zombie horror is a must watch as it takes on a different course. You feel for the whole families pain as you're watching, from the father, wife & two sons. Emotional, and psychological honor ensues. It seems foreign zombie movies are always the ones that are the best for me. I'm a zombie horror fan, and I will definitely be recommending this one on Netflix to my friends.

The Trailer Was the Only Good Part

As a huge fan of zombie movies, I was really looking forward to this one after seeing the trailer. It promised intense action, suspense, and a fresh take on the undead. But when I actually sat down to watch it, I realized the trailer was the best part. Instead of the thrilling, zombie-filled horror I was expecting, the movie was bogged down with way too much drama. It spent more time focusing on the characters' emotional struggles than on the actual zombie apocalypse. The few action scenes that were there felt forced, and I was left waiting for more of the tension and excitement the trailer teased.

The movie's pacing was slow, with long, drawn-out scenes that made it feel like a soap opera rather than a survival horror. The zombies almost felt like background noise, which is a huge disappointment when you're watching something that's supposed to be about the undead taking over. If you've seen the trailer, you've already witnessed the best moments. It's frustrating because the film had so much potential, but instead of delivering on the high-octane zombie action it promised, it focused too much on unnecessary drama. The trailer raised my hopes, but the actual movie left me feeling disappointed and let down.

Belongs in the genre "Borror"

We were excited to dive into this flick what h was rated one of the weeks top ten horror movies. We hung in there through a slow start, anticipating an upturn in the action, drama and dialog. Once well into it we realized that barring some dramatic change, this would be he longest, slowest and most boring zombie movie we have ever watched. Amateurish characters wearily deliver tiresome dialog. The plot and and action just barely plod along to an ending that seems as though the writers just got tired of it and quit. But as a bonus we did get a mystery! How did this bomb ever make the top ten horror flicks!?

This is honestly one of the worst movies I've ever seen

This is honestly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. From start to finish, Outside is a complete mess. The plot is incoherent, making it nearly impossible to follow what's happening, and the characters are so poorly developed that there's no emotional connection whatsoever. It feels like the story is wandering aimlessly, with no clear direction or purpose.

The pacing is painfully slow. For a film that lasts 2 hours and 20 minutes, there's almost nothing to keep you engaged. The scenes drag on endlessly, and you'll find yourself constantly checking the time, wondering when this ordeal will end. The film tries to build suspense or drama, but it fails miserably because there are no real stakes. It's hard to care about what's going on when you don't care about the characters or their situations.

The worst part is that there's no payoff. The movie just keeps repeating the same pointless scenes, which serve only to stretch out the runtime. Any tension or emotional depth that the film attempts to create falls flat, leaving the entire experience feeling hollow and unremarkable.

In the end, Outside is a complete disappointment. It's hard to recommend this film to anyone. Save yourself the time-there are far better ways to spend 2 hours and 20 minutes than sitting through this frustrating, poorly made mess.

Rating: 2/10.

Don't waste your time

From start to finish there was nothing exciting about the plot and it was unnecessarily draggy. Literally there is no reason for the movie to be two hours and twenty minutes long. Too many filler parts that adds zero value to the movie. Movie tries to create a build up at a snail pace. It was excruciating to sit through and constantly praying it will get better.

Seems like the script was written for the characters to have zero brain cells in this movie. Main character literally acting like he has unlimited bullets. Not a single character was written to give even the slightest bit of survival instinct.

Movie was a complete disappointment. Was expecting more out of it. Please don't waste your time on this.

An Intriguing Spin on Zombie Survival

Outside dives into the zombie apocalypse genre with a unique perspective, focusing on the psychological toll of survival rather than just the thrills of combat. Director Carlo Ledesma, the film showcases a group of survivors trapped in a remote cabin, cut off from the rest of the world.

The cinematography beautifully captures the haunting atmosphere of their isolation, with sweeping shots of the desolate landscape that heighten the sense of dread. The performances, especially by Sid Lucero and Beauty Gonzalez, bring depth to the characters, making their struggles relatable and emotionally impactful.

One of the film's strengths is its exploration of human relationships under extreme pressure. The dynamic within the group adds layers to the narrative, showcasing how fear can both unite and divide. However, some moments feel overly drawn out, and certain plot developments can be predictable for seasoned zombie genre fans.

While the film does offer some tense action sequences, it leans more heavily into character-driven storytelling, which might not satisfy everyone looking for a traditional zombie thriller. The pacing occasionally lags, and a few secondary characters feel underdeveloped.

Overall, Outside presents an interesting take on survival and humanity amid chaos. It may not be perfect, but it offers enough intrigue and emotion to make it worth a watch, especially for those who appreciate character-driven narratives in the horror genre.

Scary zombies but trash storyline

The movie makes no sense at all. The man is so annoying, I mean he is a father but acts like a 2 year old child. He can't even control himself properly. IMovie focuses on stupid man's childhood, his relationship with family, brother and his traumas. He annoyed me so much, I would just shoot his head if I were in the movie. The only good thing was zombies looked scarier to me than any other zombies in movies. They repeat one word in scary voice tone and move very fast. But other than that the movie is just a trash. If they are low on budget, they could still make great story but this one makes no sense.

I enjoyed that!

I have to say there was a lot going on considering the entire film is based around a family of four in the middle of nowhere.

It's not jam packed with action but there are some really cool bits and a nice jump scare here and there.

There's a lot of tension in the family, which plays out quite well, and it leans in more to that aspect, rather than the outbreak of zombies.

The zombies are cool though. I like that they seem to repeat the last thing they said before they turned. At least that's what I figured was happening.

A scene with the youngest kid had me chuckling.

Overall a decent little zombie flick for fans of the genre. It's a bit messy but a solid effort.

Don't watch if you're sensitive to domestic violence

This movie reminds me of The Shining, but set in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested world. Outside is more of a psychological horror drama, with themes like jealousy, growing insanity, and intergenerational domestic violence. I found this approach quite depressing, and it wasn't really for me. I usually enjoy easy-to-watch zombie splatter movies and prefer to avoid psychological tension, conflicts, and relationship issues between the living.

While zombies aren't the main focus here, the ones we do see are genuinely scary and convincingly portrayed as the terrifying undead. However, given that the movie is long and slow-paced, with most of it happening in a small, confined space, I would've liked a bit more action and some classic zombie-killing scenes. Alternatively, the movie could have been shorter without losing any of its impact.

The acting is solid, and everything looks visually impressive. I don't know what the budget was, but it never felt cheap. The storyline is coherent, though it leaves some key events up to the viewer's imagination. Overall, I have no complaints about the production quality - it's just that the heavy focus on psychological and domestic abuse themes didn't appeal to me.

Adventures Beyond the Edge

Good evening, everyone! I'm Mr. C Reviewer, and tonight we'll be diving into the film Outside. I had the opportunity to watch the movie on Netflix. This movie originally premiered on October 17, 2024, and has a runtime of 2 hour and 22 minutes. It is rated for viewers aged 18 and older. Notably, parts of the film were filmed in Negros Occidental, Philippines. I appreciated that this film was dubbed in English from Filipino, as it allowed me to enjoy the movie without frequently pausing to read subtitles during conversations. As an individual on the autism spectrum, I find subtitles to be extremely beneficial, significantly improving my ability to follow the dialogue throughout the film when necessary. Therefore, I was pleased that the movie offered both options. The film was directed and written by Carlo Ledesma alongside co-writer Anton Santamaria.

Summary: In search of safety during a zombie apocalypse, a family retreats to Francis's childhood farmhouse nestled within an isolated sugarcane plantation, where they must not only battle the looming menace of the undead but also confront deep-seated secrets and unresolved traumas that threaten to fracture their bonds.

Review: -The opening sequences seemed prolonged and struggled to engage my interest, which made it difficult to connect with the story right from the beginning. The film starts on a serious tone, portraying a family dealing with their struggles in a world overrun by zombies. Nonetheless, I valued this method in a way as it allowed for a more profound exploration of the characters while creating a foreboding atmosphere surrounding the family's situation. I appreciated how the film conveys profound insights about generational trauma, the complexities inherent in familial relationships, the essential role of self-care in fostering personal development, and the realization that our most daunting fears often reside within us. While the initial world-building was compelling, its effectiveness waned as the film unfolded. Despite a captivating premise, several elements of the zombie apocalypse remained insufficiently explored. The zombies functioned more as a peripheral threat than a primary concern, which lessened their overall impact on the narrative. There were clear opportunities to investigate the collapse of society and examine how other survivors might be coping beyond the isolated circumstances presented. I found myself somewhat let down by the gradual pace at which the story developed. The film seemed to linger, featuring a limited number of zombie encounters, which ultimately led to a sense of fatigue by the conclusion. Several scenes appeared redundant and superfluous, merely prolonging the runtime without enhancing the overall narrative. I valued how the flashbacks enriched Francis's character development, providing insights into his past that clarified some of his present actions and reactions, thus adding depth to his persona. These glimpses created tension and urgency in the narrative; by unveiling Francis's past traumas at pivotal moments, the film intensified the stakes of his battles against both zombies and personal demons. Although the flashbacks introduced significant themes of trauma and abuse, a more thorough exploration of these elements could have further amplified their importance within the story. I found the casting choices in the film to be commendable, especially with Sid and Beauty, whose performances brought remarkable depth to their characters. They effectively conveyed the emotional strain and fragility of their family dynamic, with their chemistry being a crucial aspect of the narrative that rendered the family's struggles both authentic and relatable. Sid's portrayal of Francis stood out, as he skilfully depicted his descent into paranoia and desperation during a zombie apocalypse while grappling with unresolved paternal trauma. Although the actors portraying the couple's sons added emotional weight to the story, their characters could have been developed further to fully explore their impact on family dynamics. Nevertheless, they delivered several poignant moments throughout the film. The film featured several captivating scenes of sugarcane consumption, which sparked my curiosity and made me eager to experience it myself one day if I get the chance. The film's sound design significantly contributed to the oppressive atmosphere of the secluded farmhouse environment. The deliberate choice to omit music in certain scenes aimed to heighten tension; however, this strategy did not fully resonate with me. While it sought to cultivate suspense, I often felt disengaged during the slower-paced moments, which rendered those sections somewhat prolonged and monotonous. On the other hand, the sound effects accompanying zombie encounters were notably effective in instilling a sense of dread.

-I found that the film's depiction of gore was notably realistic. I found the infected quite unsettling when they appeared on screen, as they felt convincingly real. A particularly striking aspect is that these zombies, known as "the dead ones," echo specific words and phrases that reflect their last memories or final utterances before being bitten. This intriguing concept introduces a layer of depth and humanity to the zombies, enabling them to retain remnants of their former identities. I appreciated how skilfully the film employed on-screen text to convey the progression of time in a particular scene. I was impressed by the cinematography, which utilized a diverse array of shot types to greatly enhance the storytelling. I found the film's setting compelling, as it unfolds in a post-apocalyptic environment dominated by a solitary farmhouse encircled by expansive sugarcane fields. This striking backdrop powerfully conveys a feeling of isolation and fragility for the characters, intensifying the psychological tension that permeates the narrative. At times, I found the editing to be inconsistent, and it also experiences pacing challenges that result in a disjointed viewing experience due to the film's rhythm.

-I believe that the story would have been better suited for a television series rather than a movie, as it felt overly lengthy for a single film format. I would have preferred if the narrative had begun at the onset of the outbreak. I found the ending to be satisfactory. The film leaves several questions unanswered about the characters' futures, Although I cared about their journeys, my emotional connection was not as strong as I typically expect after watching a movie sadly.

I rate each film I watch out of 10 and for this one, I give it a 5.4 Remember this was what I thought about the movie personally and I suggest that you give it a go for yourself.
