Palmer and SZA have great chemistry together. SZA in particular, was great. She was funny and charismatic. You are just kind of drawn to her every time she is on screen. Palmer anchors the film and is in virtually every scene and she does a good job.
The film doesn't break any new ground on the "someone's life falls apart over the course of one day as they overcome obstacles to try to keep things in check" genre, but it doesn't have to. It is content to be a lighthearted comedy and accomplishes that goal.
I had no regrets after seeing this.
One of those days presents a situation we can all relate to and dread ever happening to us. The two protagonists, despite everything, just keep rolling with the punches. "Ok, what is this day going to throw at me NOW?".
They're both flawed characters, HUMAN characters. One should know better and keeps making mistakes that literally drag them both down just as they're about to finally "end" the bad situation they're in. But ultimately, is getting by enough?
Highly recommended.
The plot is probably what you'd expect, given the title. It most certainly is one of them days for the characters involved. The 90 minute run time was a perfect choice, if it went on any longer then it would've dragged - but, thankfully, it didn't. It isn't a deep movie, simply an entertaining one.
One of Them Days is a 2025 American buddy tragicomedy film directed by Lawrence Lamont.
Unfortunately, it struggled to create a cohesive comedic experience, with humor primarily relying on niche references that didn't resonate with me. Additionally, the awkward pacing often disrupted the flow of the jokes, diminishing their overall effectiveness. To be honest, the film's tone was disappointing, and much of the humor felt outdated. Ultimately, the comedy just fell flat for me.

When she leaves the apartment to look for Keshawn all of her hair seems to braided. Even if a comb-over was a possible explanation, the undone section would not be able to be covered up by the braids underneath that were done.
