Serena Harris is an escapee from a cult after testifying against the leader, Aleph, who gets put away for 30 years. They made a suicide pact after believing the world would end and that they would all "rise" in 5 days. Her brother and his wife welcome her back and allow her to stay in a guest house where she puts up little hanging triangle sticks for protection against the Builders of Ascension cult who send one of its members named Laurel to her and ask her to groom the daughter of the couple who is interested in the cult. Once the mother finds out about what she's up to, she gets very protective of the daughter and watches Serena's every move but is she just overreacting? The husband thinks so since he paints her sister as a victim in the movie. This movie reminds me a little of the NVIVM cult with a little Blair Witch thrown in but way over the top. Skip it!

Another Lifetime dumb, badly scripted, badly acted, badly directed movie.

Sometimes I watch these because you don't really have to look at the screen. You can play on your phone while it's on.

Anyway, this one was especially annoying enough to make me write a review about it.

Usual tropes: wife is concerned and is poopoo's over everything, she's saying by hubby, who ignores all the red flags. And wife goes along with it. Dumb teenager who thinks they know everything and Mom knows nothing. Dad's always gone so he's not there to pay any attention whatsoever and protect his family and ignores his wife's concerns.

The sister is nasty and arrogant and, bottom-linem she would have been out of my house and on the street within 5 minutes of her being rude and nasty to me in my own home.

I found that particularly frustrating as well as the dumb, clients, useless husband.

First of all let me say that any movie that has both Jessica Morris and Gina Vitori is definitely worth watching. The plot of this movie was one of the better ones we've seen in the past two years. That said, the end of the movie in the cottage with the cult members was a little weird and over the top.

The script worked diligently to make us think that Gina (Serena) harbored evil intent but I had faith that Gina would turn out to be good in the end.

The 'man of the house' was really a tool and did not show his wife true care and we were disappointed that Jessica (Marielle) let him get away with it.

Worth a look.
