This is not as bad as the other review suggests. True, there is a bedroom scene and brief views of a woman's rear and breast, but they are very brief and integral to the plot.
It is not really science-fiction. The story is more about the competition among the media in covering a UFO story. It takes place in Poland during the Cold War, so politics are involved as well.
I found it amusing. Some characters are quite quirky, and the acting is good (I am assuming, since I do not speak Polish),
While I do not mind reading subtitles, parts of the plot were a bit confusing to me, thus the 7/10 rating.
If you do not go into the show expecting alien abductions and such, you might enjoy it.

Project UFO is set in 1980s communist Poland, where competing media personalities are on a quest to find evidence proving the existence of aliens. Interest spikes when stories about a possible "Polish Roswell" begin to circulate, and the growing body of evidence suggests the event might actually be real. But under a communist regime, nothing is that simple-various individuals within the system have their own interests and motivations to get involved.
This mini-series, with four episodes in its first season-and no confirmation of a second season-features a cast of unique and quirky characters. We follow a handful of people from the village where the UFO sightings originated, as well as government officials and media figures, all of whom operate under the influence of state interests. Much of the series revolves around relationships, secrets, and the ongoing effort to uncover the truth behind the incident.
I thought the acting was solid across the board. Since this is a Polish show with voice-over dubbing, I can't fully evaluate the original performances, but everything looked convincing to me. The cast included plenty of small gestures and subtle moments that, while not essential to the plot, showed a real commitment to quality. There were even a few characters that felt straight out of The X-Files. I also appreciated how the series constantly keeps you guessing about whether the UFO incident was real or not.

I came in expecting UFOs and cool sci-fi, not some random, out-of-nowhere bedroom scene. Was the director just oddly fixated on sneaking that in for no reason? It felt so out of place that I honestly stopped watching right after. Totally killed the vibe. I signed up for aliens and mystery, not awkward romance shoved into the middle of the plot. It's like they took a detour into a different genre entirely. Wish they had just stuck to the storyline instead of tossing in something that didn't belong. If I wanted drama, I would've picked a soap opera.... not a sci-fi film pretending to be one...??
As a fan of X-files I have to warn everyone looking interesting show about extraterrestrial mysteries- this is not that kind of show. It's a series of meaningless scenes quite successfully recreating how Poland looked during eighties. Lot of gadgets, places and music from this era. And this part is ok, visually it's quite interesting. Lot of mistakes too, like bicycle with headlights turned on while standing still (with dynamo it's not possible). Story and dialogues seem like written by total beginners. Editing is so bad that storyline becomes one big mess. I really wanted to believe (like Moulder) but I couldn't.

Show is very entertaining. If you're into period pieces it definitely is something different for us in the United States. The title is a bit misleading but not untrue. The show does revolve around chasing leads for a story about "Polands Roswell" but that's just the surface plot. There is way more going on. The set pieces, the music, and the atmosphere are really good. It is also not a "laugh out loud" comedy, although it does have a lot of dark and quirky humor. Don't listen to the braindead reviews for from people complaining about lack of aliens or comparing it to Stranger Things. I don't think they even watched the show. One admitted they didn't.

This just wasn't my kind of show. I was bored and the story just did not appeal to me. The acting was good in it, but I just didn't get into the story that much. This is a dry comedy which is good.... I love those kind of shows, but I found that I just couldn't connect very well with this story of competing news teams and reporting on UFO's.
This takes place in Poland during the war so there are several different variables coming together in an odd story. I may give this another chance later when I am in a different frame of mind. Sometimes that happens and I find I have missed a good show. I hope you all enjoy this.

As many have said I expected UFO/USO's and we didn't really see anything. I kept thinking it would get interesting & I'm pretty angry I stuck with it tbh so would urge anyone in Ufology or an interest in this subject to not waste their time.
They have clearly tried (very badly) to mimic the Look, Sound & feel of stranger things but with a weird twist.
This is a big time for Disclosure & what promised to be interesting discussing USO's (Underwater Submerged Object) did nothing to help that discussion other than some basic hypothesis
I just hope there isn't more stuff like this to be promoted as UAP & then not be.
Nothing else to say except don't bother, your time could be spent much better.

Watched it all in a binge, felt engaged and made me want more.
Witty, intelligent and visually cool. Half of the actors feel like normal you and me people. The others are portrayed like cartoon figures, a pretty unusual mix.
70s vibe may be a bit overdone, orange everywhere, yellow cars, cigarettes and all, but who cares.
Old SF fan here, hate what Hollywood has made out of the Genre. "UFO project" feels more like a SF short story with obscure twists and turns and mixed in satire. Give it a chance my friends.
Nothing for viewers who dwell on the typical braindead action, good vs evil, the chosen liberator theme, and/or computer supported special effect. All done by hand by true artisans.

Like your Sci-Fi retro, with a light humour and quirky? You won't go far wrong with Projekt UFO on Netflix. Polish production, set during political upheaval in that country, a fading tv star and a UFO enthusiast haunted by his brother's disappearance, investigate Poland's Roswell. Beautifully shot and designed, with a great colour palette which somehow emphasises the bleakness of the times.
There's subtle nods to other shows and films about alien visitors, it even has it's own Smoking Man (with his own idiosyncrasy), but location and time it's set really make it original. I'm sure some will watch and want an English language remake, I thought myself that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost would cover the male lead roles, but a remake would be a mistake, missing out on the uniqueness of the Polish setting.
Great 80s style electronic synth soundtrack too.

Nicely filmed, avant-garde, Polish cinema even upon humoured project, they've managed to keep the standard and not dipping their toes into cheap picture.
Talents are nicely selected, scenography meticulously arranged.
Truth be told, great binge for Sunday chill.
Specific sub story, with the taste of true cinema, to create something humorous and entertaining, taking a Mickey out of communist party, Polish people fighting to be seen and heard. It's showing greatly oppressed society and yet holding their faith and keeping up with their dreams within the barbed wire of communism and Russian waiting at the border.

Wow can't understand the low rating on this one. I rarely ever write reviews, but when I saw the low score I had to set record straight. What a fun experience to be had. A well written, beautifully shot, unique show. Vibrant colors, nailed the 80s feel, quirky characters, interesting storyline, good acting, great dialogue, I mean what else do you want? Also a very cool soundtrack. I've seen just about everything under the sun, this was a refreshingly good time. I'm giving it a well deserved 8 out of 10. Do yourself a favor and check it out, then leave a proper rating so the IMDb folks out there don't overlook this one.
Great mini-series, nicely filmed with a good cast and some fantastic quirky characters.
If you're looking for some proper Sci-Fi, then this is probably not for you.
It is a slightly bizarre but humorous and visually excellent story set in 80's Poland - Great sets and great sound track with a retro-indie feel to it.
Anyone who gave this a bad review has totally missed the point. This is a charming Fargo-esque tale set in rural Poland. I don't speak Polish, so had to rely on the sub-titles but I could sense that the dialogue was often a little bit tongue-in-cheek and this just added to it's charm for me.
Well worth a watch!

I learned about this show from tweet from Hideo Kojima(creator of death stranding and metal gear solid) where he praised it.
The story, acting, set design, cinematography and basically everything about this show is 10/10 and feels very fresh. I enjoyed absolutely every second of it.
I really wish marketing for it was handled better , because I would have missed one of my favorite shows, if i haven't opened twitter randomly that day.
Reading the negative comments here, after watching the show, they feel more hilarious, than infuriating. Its beyond me how you can completely miss the entire point of the show and be so confident. Its like Colin Robinson wrote them.

For me (and my wife), this is just such a benignly smart and media-literate series, full of artistic, meta(and pata)physical, colourist, humourist, surreal, and retro references, while reaching high and low almost simultaneously. (Noticed possible David Lynch and the Coens allusions.) Just started watching it a second time, and will probably a third. But I admit that so far on this second watch I am already missing the disorientation that my first watch produced. Cleverly, the story line is both literal and non-literal, so always had my attention. Who knew that Poland could produce such brilliancy! I just can't recommend this enough to those who have the imagination to appreciate it.

It's kind of hard to say what this series actually is. It's a bit of satire, a bit of social commentary, a bit of comedy...... It's not a series you'd normally see made by a western studio as it doesn't really follow western media formula.
I think it's mostly about the overall atmosphere in Poland in 1980, right before imposition of martial law. The social angle is in the background, but plainly visible. In the end "the aliens, real or not" nicely fits into it.
It's an interesting series, it's just might not be for people who are accustomed to traditional humour, built around jokes, gags and funny mishaps.

If you are someone who has read stories about UFOs and aliens during the world wars, this movie is a reflection of such stories. The story of this series is interesting because UFOs and paranormal activities are quite related even though UFOs and aliens are not in the realm of ghosts. I don't understand why the rating is so bad. I guess I don't believe in ratings anymore after seeing the bad reviews about this movie. Maybe those who give bad reviews are fans of US-movies/series. But try to see UFO Sweden. A non-US movie that has a strong story. For this series, just watch it and enjoy! This series is not bad. But I have to admit I don't like the role of the policewoman.
