The Chronicles of Narnia producer Cary Granat is teaming with director David L Cunningham (The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising, Running for Grace) and Oscar-winning visual effects artist Ed Jones (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Happy Feet) on In the Beginning, a new faith-based family action-adventure feature that aims to tell the Biblical story of creation.
The film will use cutting-edge motion capture and hybrid CGI visual effects to turn the story of Genesis, from the creation of the universe to the Garden of Eden, into an Imax-worthy cinematic event. Cunningham, the son of well-known Christian missionary Loren Cunningham (founder of Youth With A Mission), has written and will direct In the Beginning with Walden Media founder Granat and Jones producing together with Jonathan E. There are a wide variety of Jesus movies that range from traditional biblical epics to more nuanced and creative approaches to the story. Some of the best Jesus movies highlight the role of Mary in Jesus' life and explore unique perspectives on his story, such as through satire, character studies, or experimental filmmaking. These films aim to showcase the awe-inspiring power of Jesus, his miracles, and the impact he had on his communities, making him a popular figure in cinema, particularly among the Christian community.
There has been a wide variety of films about Christianity's Messiah and son of God since the birth of cinema, and the end result is some of the best Jesus movies ever made. As far back as the silent era, several films have been made about Jesus Christ, and he still remains a popular figure within cinema, especially among the Christian community. Hulu’s list of new releases for March 2023 features an event long in the making.
On March 6, History of the World, Part II will finally arrive more than 40 years after Mel Brooks’ classic comedy History of the World, Part I. first premiered. Of course, Brooks never had any intention of adding future parts to his ahistorical film, but that yet makes the arrival of Part II so many years later even funnier. Described as a four-night comedy event, History of the World, Part II will release two episodes a day through March 9. Brooks returns to write and executive produce this series and will star alongside Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, and Ike Barinholtz. Guest stars include…everyone. Basically just everyone.

It’s ironic but unavoidable that the greatest annual celebration of film should be a television special — but that’s just how it is. March often means Oscar season, a time for cinephiles to boot up that small screen you use for movies and use it to see if they win any awards during a telecast.
If you don’t have TV service anymore, Hulu has you covered with a pre-Oscars telecast as well as two red carpet specials before and after the main event. Though the ceremony itself won’t be livestreamed on Hulu, it will be added the next morning, like regular ABC programming. Awards viewership has been in general decline over the past several years, but next-day streaming gives curious viewers a chance to join the conversation and boost those Oscar ratings after the live show. It’s also a chance for superfans to pause and rewind...

Above: Poster for Bamboo Dogs. Art by Soika Vomiter.Unless you’ve been going to film festivals around the world for the past 15 years you may not have heard of Khavn dela Cruz. I had not myself until a poster caught my eye recently. It was a design for Orphea, a 2020 collaboration between the venerable 89-year-old German filmmaker Alexander Kluge and an artist called simply Khavn. The poster had a certain iconoclastic energy and a stylish title treatment and so I decided to dig deeper. And there was a lot to uncover. Born in Quezon City in the Philippines in 1973, Khavn has made over 50 features and 150 shorts over the past 20 years, but he is also a musician with 40 albums to his name, and a writer who has published eight books of poetry, a novel, and two collections of short stories and has twice won the most prestigious literary award in the Philippines.

If you’re looking for some family-friendly, faith-based viewing, the options out there can seem lacking. Popular streaming platforms offer countless shallow and inappropriate options, or productions that take a mocking approach to religion, but where are the Christian ones that you don’t have to think about twice before viewing with the kids?
Luckily for you, there are a number of great options at your disposal, you just need to know where to find them. That’s why we’re here to help – we’ve done the sifting for you. Part of the Dox:Lab workshop, an international cooperation in which filmmakers from Scandinavian countries were linked to filmmakers from developing countries, in order to present creative documentaries. And creative “Son of God” certainly is.
The documentary begins in Manila during the “Black Nazarene” where scores of Roman Catholics gather around a centuries-old black wooden statue of Jesus Christ believed to have healing powers. Among the people there, a number of Messiahs (?) are present, but no one seems to be more popular than Son of God, a dwarf in a blond wig, who is dressed as a bishop and actually worshipped as a true miracle maker. The two directors follow the Son of God, in an effort to find out if his claims and the beliefs of his followers are true or figments of Christian fantasy. Soon, however, their research leads them to paths that are uncanny, as much as dangerous.

Though the Deadpool movies are known for their somewhat risqué humor, it probably wouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that Deadpool 2 co-writer Rhett Reese felt they were taking a slight gamble when they chose to include a joke about Mel Gibson’s controversial biblical drama The Passion of the Christ in Wade Wilson’s latest film. But while this wouldn’t be the first time that a religious gag has landed a scribe in hot water, the real reason Reese considered the joke to be a risk was less a matter of offensiveness and more of box office rankings.

In April, you can stay and hang around with y’us — with Alice Cooper. At Netflix, Messiah will chronicle the world's reaction to a man thousands call "the Messiah" emerging from the Middle East...
The Word of God is good. It is also very lucrative. Ever since the days of silent films, the Bible has been big business in Hollywood. And as we travel ever further into 'peak television’s' new era of streaming, that one constant remains. However, the officially greenlit series Messiah, at least on its premise, promises to be a challenging new take on faith-based content.
First announced as in-development last spring, Netflix officially ordered a 10-episode series of Messiah yesterday, which is likely to be a controversial and highly publicised series when it eventually drops. Created by Michael Petroni, who has developed the project with producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, the series looks to provocatively consider the emergence (or reemergence?) of a figure claiming...

Justin Bieber has used some of the time off from his canceled Purpose world tour to get some new ink — and the Beliebers are going crazy.

Netflix has released a collection of photos from Marvel's upcoming series The Punisher featuring Frank Castle, Karen Page, and several other characters. I also included a new promo spot that was released that highlights a major cover up. It came along with the caption, "How deep does the cover up go?"
With every new thing I see from the series, it's hard not to get excited! Frank Castle is just such a badass character and I'm excited to see the story that this solo series will tell. One thing is for certain... it's going to be badass!

Justin Bieber is “okay for now” but is “super exhausted” from his 18-month international Purpose tour, resulting in the cancellation of the 14 remaining tour dates.
Shortly after the “Sorry” singer, 23, kicked off his Purpose World Tour in March 2016, a string of questionable behavior began fueling headlines. Indeed, a source told People in May 2016: “Two months into it, and he already feels beat. He’s not losing it, though. He’s just trying to find ways to focus.”
The extended jaunt took Bieber all over North America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America. However in July, the pop star is no longer welcome in China.

Bieber got his new ink at the Bang Bang Tattoo parlor in New York City. "Justin is in a great place really happy and he's always been a big fan of lions," a source told E! News exclusively. Justin Bieber is taking a page out of Rihanna's playbook when it comes to getting inked. On Monday, the "Sorry" singer unveiled his new eagle tattoo on his Instagram story, and it looks a little familiar. In between his "Son of God" stomach tattoo and the word "Purpose" sits a giant bald eagle, similar to the one Rihanna has on her chest. The following day, Justin - who is currently on the Australian and New Zealand leg of his tour - shared a few videos of the him and a very special elderly lady "getting to know each other" on the dance floor. The videos, which show off his new tattoo, entail Justin being slightly seductive while dancing with her in nothing but sweatpants. No word yet on what she thought of Justin's permanent artwork.

He’s replaced the sugary sweet pop schtick of his youth in favor of a more adult, electronic club sound, and likewise with his personal life he’s also attempted to distance himself from the rebellious days of his youth spent drag racing his car, egging people’s homes, abandoning pet monkeys and penning cavalier comments to Anne Frank.

Saturday Am Update: It is looking like a very close race at the top of the weekend box office as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is suffering a sharper drop than we expected, looking at a $23-24 million weekend while Universal's Sing is looking like it will hit around $23-25 million. Making things even more interesting is the performance of Fox's Hidden Figures, which may also have a shot at the #1 slot after bringing in an estimated $7.57 million on Friday, heading toward at least $21 million for the three-day weekend. However, with an "A+" CinemaScore word could spread quickly for Hidden Figures leaving Sunday's box office as the big question mark as to whether or not it will be able to surge above early projections. Meanwhile, the only new wide release this weekend was Screen Gems' Underworld: Blood Wars, which debuted with an estimated $4.85 million, headed toward a $13-14 million opening.
