Adapted from the fantasy comic book from 2019, Netflixs Hellbound includes some of the most talented actors from South Korea. The King of Pigs, Peninsula, Train to Busan, and Hellbound director Yeon Sang-ho first explored the series supernatural world in : or The Hell (Two Kinds of Life), an 11-minute rotoscope-animated short film that was finished in 2006. Hellbound season 1 received critical acclaim, and became one of the best horror K-dramas on Netflix.
In 2020, Netflix approved the production of the first season of the series, which was released in 2021. While Hellbound season 1 was a resounding success, Netflix didn't immediately renew the show for a sophomore season. The Bear season 3 picks up where season 2 left off, telling the story of the titular restaurant set against a varied soundtrack consisting of many artists and songs both new and old. Since The Bear season 2's dramatic ending, audiences have been eagerly anticipating the continuation of creator Christopher Storer's intensely human story. The Bear tells tales of high-end dining and Michelin stars but is at its best when focusing on the people at the center of those stories, brought to life by The Bear season 3's excellent cast.
As of The Bear season 3's ending, each character receives their due share of screentime as they navigate work life, personal issues, and deep-rooted trauma against the backdrop of fine dining. Oftentimes, as a way to offset the emotionally heavy storylines of the show, Storer wisely integrates various songs from a vast collection of artists, as was the case with The Bear season 2's soundtrack.

For Pride Month Team Experience is looking at LGBTQ+ moments in Oscar history.

When we decided to do this series we left it up to contributors to pick their topics. Does an movie achievement qualify as queer because of an aesthetic sensibility? Because the artists involved were LGBTQ+? Because of subject matter or characters? Any of those! With Old Hollywood movies one of the most common 'qualifying' reasons -- it's all very subjective of course -- is whether or not a movie or singular element of a movie was 'adopted' by the queer community. In this regard "Secret Love," the Oscar-winning ballad from the western musical comedy Calamity Jane more than qualifies...

Every year, there are some truly exceptional songs featured in motion pictures.
Disney and Bond films are almost always guaranteed nominations from the Academy in the Best Original Song category, often winning (as "No Time To Die" did last year).
However, there are plenty of songs that have stood the test of time that you may not even know were Oscar-nominated -- or even that they were originally from a film!
Plenty of nominated songs have gone on to outlast tthe films they came from.
Here's a list to remind you how random, enduring, and inclusive the Best Original Song category has been over the decades.
"9 to 5" - 9 to 5 (1980)
Dolly Parton's first Academy Award nomination was for her upbeat ode to the working woman from the film of the same name.
That year, Best Original Song was a tough category, with "Fame" from Fame taking the prize.

When Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke joined the cast of the upcoming MCU Disney+ series Secret Invasion, fans immediately asked, “Who is she playing?” And when the rumor mill suggested that she would play Veranke, many fans had a follow-up question: “Who is Veranke?” Over the years, the MCU has not been afraid to dig deep into the comics to find obscure and exciting characters. While you may not know Veranke’s name, you’ll soon see why she’d potentially be a great MCU villain and a fitting role for Clarke.
In short, Veranke is the queen of the Skrull Empire who served as the primary villain of the 2008 crossover Secret Invasion. For fans of the MCU, Skrulls are a relatively recent and largely sympathetic alien race. They first showed up in Captain Marvel, and while they initially clashed with Brie Larson’s Vers and the other members of Kree special forces,...

When it comes to Bde (that’s Big Downton Energy), there’s no denying that HBO’s The Gilded Age has it in spades.
With its sweeping score, near-constant architectural pornography and more upstairs/downstairs drama than you can shake a dinner bell at, the new period drama (premiering tonight at 9/8c) is every bit Downton Abbey‘s spiritual successor. The final dot to connect, of course, is that both series hail from the mind of Julian Fellowes.

One of the big new Marvel shows announced for Disney+ is Echo, starring Alaqua Cox. The character will be introduced in Hawkeye later this month and now is the perfect time for her to shine. In the comics, Echo was never truly a top-tier hero. Echo has mostly been portrayed as a supporting character, but she is remembered for her role in an era that goes well with MCU Phase 4. More specifically, she represents the rebirth of the Avengers.
Maya Lopez was introduced in Daredevil #9 in 1999. The storyline was written by David Mack and drawn by Joe Quesada. Through no fault of its own, the story was doomed to be overwhelmed by its placement in the Daredevil series, as it followed Kevin Smith’s high-profile take on the character and came just before Brian Michael Bendis’ lengthy and defining run.

Jenny Lumet and Alex Kurtzman are partnering on a new production company under the CBS Studios umbrella, Variety has learned.
The company, 25 Stories, is being built around promoting the voices of people of color and guiding them on entertainment career paths. NBC veteran Bruce Evans has come onboard to lead the company, serving in the role of executive vice president.
“25 Stories began in my kitchen in 2017 during a marathon screenwriting weekend for about 25 women of color, all extraordinary writers,” said Lumet. “I knew I wanted to bring prestige television by writers of color to the marketplace, and I began to think about how to create a space where marginalized voices are centered. A space where both seasoned and newer voices have room to breathe. I thought a lot about scale: intimate stories, family stories, positive stories. I wanted people to emerge from their experience with 25 Stories with the tools to start their own companies.

When James Bond (Daniel Craig) says that line to Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) nine minutes into “No Time to Die,” it may not mean much to the average moviegoer. According to the New York Post, Michael K. Williams has passed away, possibly of an overdose.
The Post learned from Law Enforcement that the 54-year-old Lovecraft Country actor was found in his Brooklyn apartment by his nephew.
While there isn't an official cause of death, there was drug paraphernalia in the apartment, suggesting a possible overdoe.
The star had been open about his personal struggle with drugs, revealing in an interview with NPR in 2016 that he went to a church in New Jersey to get help for his addiction.
“When I came through those doors, I was broken. … This was, I would say, around the … third season of The Wire, ” Williams said.
“I was on drugs. … I was in jeopardy of destroying everything I had worked so hard for, and I came in those doors, and I met a man who had never even heard of ‘The Wire,’ much less watched it,...

The latest series from producer/showrunner Ryan Murphy, Ratched, is set to debut later this week on Netflix. Centered around the titular nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Ratched gives us a look at the life of the iconic character during the 1940s, and features Sarah Paulson as the series’ namesake character. One of the key figures in Mildred Ratched’s life during this time is Gwendolyn Briggs, played by Cynthia Nixon, who is a newcomer to the world of Ryan Murphy.
Nixon discussed her experience collaborating with Murphy for the first time, saying, “It was kind of mind-blowing. It was really exciting to get invited into the world with so much talent actor-wise, but really design-wise, camera-wise, writing-wise, every-wise. And it was wild, too. Sometimes Ryan, when he was directing, was on the set and then—obviously—sometimes was not. We’d been working together for a...

While the 13th Slovak Queer Film Festival includes in its line up a later Solito’s queer jewel, let’s have a look at the director’s feature debut “The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros”. The film won over the children juries at the 56th Berlinale and left with the Special Mention from the Generation Kplus Children’s Jury, Grand Prix from the International Jury Kinderfilmfest, and also with the Teddy Award. By the way, that was the year when Sir Ian McKellen received the Honorary Golden Bear.
The international attention that the coming of age story of a “fairy” gay Maxi (Nathan Lopez) has received is, I dare to say, well deserved. “The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros” portrays the world of its main protagonist with a great sense for details, leaving his queerness as a mere one of them. Quite unlike what we could have seen in western films, being gay is a character trait,...

Yes, Doris Day, who died on May 13 at age 97 after a bout with pneumonia, was the all-American girl next door — but she was so much more. The funny, sunny blonde with the perky disposition, a sprinkle of freckles and a dazzling smile started off as a big band singer whose first hit was 1945’s “Sentimental Journey” with Les Brown & his Band of Renown. She would record more than 650 songs from 1947 to 1967, making her one of the biggest-selling recording artists of the 20th century, and was honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 20008.
But the former Doris Mary Ann von Kappelhoff would make an even bigger splash as a star on the silver screen in a series of romantic comedies opposite Rock Hudson — who would become a lifelong friend — starting with 1959’s “Pillow Talk,” the source of her only Oscar nomination, along with 1961’s “Lover Come Back” and 1964’s “Send Me No Flowers.

Whenever the subject of who should get Honorary Oscars — or the Governors Awards, as they now are known — comes up, there has not been a single year, not one, when Doris Day’s name was not at the top of the speculation. But it never happened. The Academy’s Board of Governors never even went the Debbie Reynolds route by voting this renowned animal-rights activist the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, perhaps because it has human in its title. Although she often referred to herself as the girl singer in the band, her remarkable movie career spanned a couple of decades during the 50’s and 60’s, and about three dozen movies — frequently in what might be known as Doris Day movies — and maybe that is why the Academy never honored her. Or perhaps they just knew this star, who retreated from the business almost entirely, never would show up. Still, in her big-screen prime,...

When teenager Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff sang along to Ella Fitzgerald on the radio, the Cincinnati native could never have predicted that, as Doris Day, she would go on to become one of the 20th century’s most beloved performers, first as a vocalist, then as an actress and then finally as an outspoken champion for the rights of animals.
But it was those radio sing-alongs that inspired Alma Welz Kappelhoff to send her daughter to a vocal coach, and by the time Doris was 17, she was singing for bandleader Barney Rapp, who convinced her to change her name to a more marquee-friendly length.
Day would go on to sing for the likes of Jimmy James and Bob Crosby, but it was her collaboration with Les Brown and His Band of Renown in the late 1940s that would rocket her to national stardom with hits like “Sentimental Journey” and “‘Till the End of Time.

“You’ll know before the dance is through that you’re in love with her and she’s in love with you.”
That lyric is from the very first Best Song Oscar winner, “The Continental,” from the 1934 Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers musical, “The Gay Divorcee.” It’s a celebration of the power of dance to ignite the flames of desire.
Now “Shallow,” a more clear-eyed view on matters of the heart (“Ain’t it hard keeping it so hardcore?”) from “A Star Is Born” is part of that Academy Award tradition. But the fact is, such honored love songs are becoming a rarity.
It used to be that romantic tunes regularly caught Oscar’s ear. Occasionally, a song of yearning like 1939’s “Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz,” “When You Wish Upon a Star” from 1940’s “Pinocchio” and “White Christmas” from 1942’s “Holiday Inn” broke through. There...
