Movie worth the money

Finally a good movie played by Shiva. Though he tried a lot , he still has his flaws on romance scenes, while on comedy scenes he is much better. It is too hard to believe that the director is a débutant, lead actress Priya Anand also done her part very well. The movie has nice cliché, smooth story-line and makes it a perfect romantic-comedy movie. The movie starts as a comedy genre from the beginning and comedy actor Santhanam too joins the fun from the end of first half , while the movie progresses the genre turns towards romance. The main strength of the movie is the energetic background by Anirudh, with the song track of "Oh Penne" is the fans favorite and has made already a huge impact.

A Love Triangle.

Anirudh delivered some-of his best work in this movie(personal opinion about his songs). Every song was put up well with the scene in tact. The story line was good and funny, Priya Anand & Shiva did a really good Job. A simple movie with a simple story.

Vanakkam Chennai is an average love story

Just now saw the Shiva-Santhanam-Priya Anand starrer "Vanakkam Chennai". Thought to write a review on this movie..

This is purely a love story laced with comedy (but comedy is less when compared to the other movies of Shiva-Santhanam Combo). Vanakkam Chennai has got some really great songs composed by Anirudh Ravichander (3 Fame)and a eye-catching cinematography by Richard M. Nathan.

Plot Shiva and Priya got bluffed by Santhanam in real estate (a flat) and forcefully they are living together in their same flat. Later on Shiva falls for Priya and seeks help from Santhanam to sort out his love.

(+)ves 1. Cinematography 2. Priya Anand 3. Shiva 4. Music

(-)ves 1. Wafer thin storyline (since most of the scenes are clichéd) 2. Slow Paced & Lengthy 3. Shiva

Well, the movie as I said earlier that its a romantic comedy with less comic scenes. It is very slow-paced and lengthy. Wafer thin storyline was adapted and it was convincingly directed by the débutante Krithika.. The movie was not at all boring even at this slow pace. Priya Anand looked ravishing in almost every scenes. Santhanam was not doing a comic role but he managed to do a serious role (with comedy). Shiva's performance was good but the transition as the romantic hero made him troubled in most of the scenes. His dance moves were pathetic in the songs. He needs to work more in his dance and his acting skills (especially in romance and doing serious roles).

Anirudh's music was an up- plus for the movie and his background score was really really good.. Especially when it comes to the romantic scenes. The songs were brilliantly picturized. Richard M. Nathan did a wonderful job with his camera.

All in whole it is a good movie. Will give a solid 7 for this movie.

Best cinema

Vanakkam Chennai excels as a breezy, feel good romantic comedy infused with colorful visuals and chart topping tunes. Its comfort watch appeal, anchored by gentle chemistry and lighthearted fun, makes it a pleasant time especially for music lovers and rom com enthusiasts. But viewers seeking narrative depth, surprise elements, or emotional intensity may find it charming yet forgettable. A solid debut, predictable but polished, fun without overreaching.

Pleasantly Surprised!!!

For a story that is predictable and has nothing new, Vanakkam Chennai manages to keep the viewer occupied. I went in with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Everyone on screen have done their part well except maybe for Shiva - who wasn't that bad either. Priya Anand sizzles and Santhanam yet again delivers a strong performance. Aniruth has done a fair job and so has Kiruthiga, the director. The movie starts off briskly and maintains its pace throughout the first half, but drags on towards the latter part and finishes with the usual template that we have seen time and again.

Overall, a very decent effort and worth the watch.

Love, Laughter, and Legendary Tunes

Vanakkam Chennai is proof that even the most predictable rom-com can feel fresh when it's sprinkled with charm, comedy, and a pinch of Tamil Nadu flavor. Shiva and Priya Anand play two strangers forced to share a flat due to a housing mix-up, and what follows is a rollercoaster of laughs, misunderstandings, and eventual romance. Spoiler alert: You know how it ends, but you won't mind getting there.

Shiva's impeccable comic timing is the movie's backbone, throwing in one-liners like they're free sambhar refills at a wedding. Priya Anand complements him perfectly with her blend of sass and sweetness. Meanwhile, Santhanam shows up occasionally to remind you why he's Tamil cinema's undisputed king of situational humor.

And then there's Anirudh Ravichander, who doesn't just deliver a soundtrack-he gives you a lifetime playlist. The BGM is pure magic, adding soul to every scene, whether it's a funny exchange or a heartfelt moment. "Ailasa Ailasa" is a certified earworm, and every other track is just chef's kiss. Honestly, if you don't leave this movie humming something, are you even alive?

The story might not be groundbreaking, but Vanakkam Chennai is like a warm cup of filter coffee on a rainy day: comforting, familiar, and absolutely delightful.

Giving 7/10. Come for the comedy, stay for the music, and leave with a goofy smile on your face. Also, Anirudh, we owe you one.
