Surprise is an essential part of comedy. If you expect a joke, even when it's clever or witty, it doesn't hit as hard as when you're surprised, and sometimes even bad jokes can cause much laughter if they truly surprise you.
This is part of why humor that goes against cultural taboos often seems funnier and cleverer than it truly is. Segura's Bad Thoughts leans HARD into that strategy.
When watching this, I laughed out loud quite a bit at first. But when literally every skit is about some sexual taboo or gross-out, it loses it's punch quickly. And this does. By the second episode I was hardly laughing at all, but the gags weren't that different. I did laugh pretty hard at Segura's 'school play' skit in the 3rd episode, but that's because he took aim at a very different taboo and caught me by surprise again.
And of course, some people don't like taboo-breaking comedy at all. If that's you, you'll hate this. Be prepared for wall to wall sex and violence jokes and little else. But even if you're open to it, you'll probably get bored of it quickly because that's all there is.
If Segura gets a second season, and I can't imagine he won't as this was pretty successful, my advice to him is to mix in some funny 'normal' comedy. Don't rely exclusively on blue humor. It will make the blue stuff work better, but it should also even out the quality of the show. That maybe doesn't fit with the premise of 'Bad Thoughts', but surely we can find some bad thoughts that aren't just sex jokes.

If you've ever watched Tom's comedy or listen to him on a podcast, you'll know he harbors some dark thoughts.
And each one of these short stories, is a look inside his demented mind. As Bill Burr once said of Tom "the serial killer tone and complete lack of emotion, if his thoughts were a movie definitely NC17"
This series is more like R-rated, but this is exactly what I would have expected from Tom but wasn't sure even Netflix would OK with it.
You'll either love it or hate it, but what it will do for sure is make you question the choices you've made in your life that got you here. They could be bad they could be good, it all depends on how sick your sense of humor is.

Am I the only one who thought this was basically a longer version of "Bill Burr Presents Immoral Compass".
But I'm guessing barely anyone has seen that, since it's on Roku, so no one will probably notice lol...
It's okay, and has a few good ones, but also a fair few bad ones, so it's very hit and miss.
I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Segura, I used to be, but something hasn't felt right about his comedy for a while, but it's still not as bad as Burnt Chrysler.
There's some inside jokes from 'Your Mom's house' and the Rogan-Sphere, but like I say, the good ones are pretty funny, offensive, gross and crazy which I like and the others just miss my sense of humour.
Give it a watch, you're bound to like a few of them.

It's what we would call in the UK a Marmite show..you're either going to love it or hate it..in either case NEVER read the ingredients label..!
A show for those with a short sketch attention span, that would invariably, if allowed to continue for say another dozen episodes, lose its shock value and numb the observer with the brutality, as the next instalment tries to out-shock the previous one...there's only so far that road can take you before creativity needs to step in..à la Black Mirror.
Do wonder if Tom Segura isn't a secret Monty Python fan as they did some like this 40+ years ago in a different era, but kept evolving which gave them longevity..

If you can get past the extreme vulgarity, you will encounter some laugh out loud moments. This show is definitely is not for everyone. If you have sensitive sensibilities, please do not attempt to watch. There is a ton of sexual content, and what some would consider inappropriate content. Everything and everyone is made fun of in these episodes, children, women, old people, disabled people minorities, you name it. This show is not for children or minors. It's not even for some adults. For me, it was a good distraction from what I normally watch, but I doubt I would watch anything along these lines again.

I'm not surprised the mixed critique this show is getting. However, I am surprised at how little people are talking about the way it was filmed. Talk about bold! I'm not sure if Netflix just threw money at this, but every sketch looked like a different feature length movie. I give a lot of credit to the DP and crew behind the scenes that pulled this off. Definitely not an easy task to do. 10/10
As for the comedy, it's definitely more on the raunchy side. It's bluer than blue and filled with sex and taboo subjects. So if you're not into that sort of thing, I'd say don't watch. But if you are, then this show is for you.

Bad Thoughts is a hilarious and clever comedy series that shows how wild our inner thoughts can be. With sharp writing and a unique style, it mixes laugh-out-loud moments with awkward, relatable situations.
Tom Segura is at his best, his dry humour and timing make every episode a treat. The show takes everyday worries and spins them into funny, over-the-top scenarios that will have you laughing and cringing at the same time.
If you enjoy smart comedy with a twist of dark humour, Bad Thoughts is a must-watch.
The series is short and can be finished in one sitting which helps the show immensely.

Tom is a funny stand up comedian it just doesn't translate well into a series, there is a lot of cheap gags to try get you laugh but instead just makes you wonder if he was even funny to start with. The show trys to be as vulgar as possible with every joke but they forget to make it funny, as with most shows you might get a chuckle here and there but nothing that you'd expect from a comedian, I've personally seen Tom live he's a really great comedian and podcaster so this is disappointing. Skits don't seem to be a fit for Tom everytime I've seen him doing something similar it bombs.avoid this and just enjoy his stand up.
Tom Segura's Bad Thoughts is exactly what the title promises - a no-holds-barred dive into the most twisted corners of his comedic mind. Known for pushing the boundaries of taste, Segura doesn't just cross the line in this special - he annihilates it. With brutal honesty and a delivery that's as deadpan as it is devastating, he takes aim at everything from personal trauma to the absurdities of everyday life.
The humor is dark, crude, and unapologetically offensive. If you're easily shocked or looking for clean laughs, this isn't the show for you. But for fans of his previous work - or those who appreciate comedy that's fearless, sick-minded, and brilliantly wrong - Bad Thoughts is a masterclass in how far stand-up can go when it refuses to play nice.
It's not for the faint of heart, but that's exactly the point.

Mildly amusing. Very whacky. Those bits are good. But so many jokes of which the punchline is male on male sex. Or it includes gay sex. So many that it's more like a teenage boys review. Pity really. But relying on homosexuality for a laugh is.
I was surprised to see the length (shortness) of the episodes but after watching them, feel most are too long.
Yes there is funny stuff, mostly grossly funny, but funny nevertheless and it isn't like the audience isn't warned after one or two vignettes.
But most seem like an idea frat boys, drunk or stoned, would throw around in a very brief discussion and then move on to another weird idea. Instead, some of these go on interminably. Yes, we get it. Next please? Perhaps there is no way to touch on each of the vignettes if they are even shorter. So this is what we have. No thank. I won't be back if more are released.

Comedy sketches with a brutal dark and twisted edge that at first seems to throw you off kilter (even idioms are not safe in this series), where you are not sure what the hell you are watching. Then bang! You find yourself in the gutter, staring up to the absurdity as the senses adapt to the crudeness factor, and laughter surrounds your madness. Yes, it is that kind of brutal show, where nothing is sacred, and everything is in firing range. These are jokes, but the visual kind that work a treat and will challenge your perspective on comedians and the bad thoughts that go through their minds. Not for the easily offended, but a bonus for Tom Segura fans...
In my opinion its a great show with great comedy buth i have 1 huge proplem and thats that the show is wayy to short it has 6 episodes yes you heard me richt only 6 i realy was intrested in it from start to finish buth i wanted atleast 12-24 episodes (luckly its not a mini series so there can be a season 2) sadly we have to wayt a minimum of 1-2 jears voor a second season if the 20% hapens that netflix green licht it and they do not give bigh mouth another 30 seasons this show ads up to the curent iseu with allot of shows that they keep getting short first it was 24-51. 20 minute episodes shows now its 6-15. 1 our shows i like 8 episodes 1 our buth these are 6 maximum 20 minunte episodes it takes axectly 1 our 57minute to watch the full show thats shorter than most movies.

Tom Segura has really fallen off. This show is filled with really low brow humor and the terrible jokes last almost a whole scene/bit. It's like he tried to copy the style of the series "I Think You Should Leave" but with added raunchy humor and that type of humor is the ONLY thing the show relies on so everything comes off as lazy. Didn't laugh once. It is especially upsetting, because Tom used to be so funny, his stand up was amazing, so I was very excited to watch this but it is almost insultingly bad. Watching this felt like a slap in the face. If you are a fan of Tom Segura (or anyone) my advice is to stay away from this show you will be sincerely dissapointed.
This show is the epitome of unfiltered and brash comedy in the best ways. I loved it.
I'm very surprised to see so many negative reviews. I think those are partially by Tom Segura haters, which I'm still trying to fully understand, but it seems like quite a few of the online trolls have something out for the guy.
Either way, the series is doing something different and unique. Each episode delivers a rapid-fire mix of unsettling and shockingly hilarious scenarios, which I find impressive and very fun. It's definitely NOT for the easily offended, but for those who enjoy comedy that pushes limits and dives into the bizarre, Bad Thoughts is worth a watch.
Beyond the writing and jokes, the series is also surprisingly cinematic. Each sketch is shot with polish and I thought the team behind the camera did an extraordinary job. It elevates the chaos, giving even the most absurd moments a strangely beautiful, engaging edge.

Do not watch this with kids - of any age - seriously :) Everyone has intrusive thoughts; they're weird, dark, and sometimes downright disturbing. But the key to being a good person is not acting on them. This show dives into that space in a hilarious and unfiltered way, giving us a glimpse into "his" mind and reminding us that we're not alone when we catch ourselves thinking strange things. It's bold, raw, and unapologetically honest. Yes, it's shocking. Yes, it's vulgar. But that's exactly the point - intrusive thoughts are! And instead of hiding from them, he turned them into something uniquely fun and cathartic. Super refreshing and wildly entertaining. Thanks, Segura!

Some funny parts.
Some terrible.
Some painful to watch.
Shows what money can do, really strange just stupid mostly.

Thankfully the episodes are super short, but still felt longer.

Let me start by saying: Tom Segura is not a man. He is a twisted, hilarious prophet of chaos.
"Bad Thoughts" is the kind of show that grabs you by the brain stem, whispers awful things in your ear, and then makes you thank it for the trauma. I have never felt so violated by laughter-and I loved every second of it.
This isn't just dark humor. This is the black hole of comedy, and Segura is sitting in the center, grinning like a madman with a cigar and a canceled soul. It's offensive. It's wrong. It's brilliant. Every episode made me question whether I'm a decent person, and by the finale, I was proudly shouting, "I'm not!"
The writing? Sharper than a prison shiv. The delivery? Like a bedtime story for sociopaths. The themes? Imagine if Nietzsche did stand-up and had a Netflix budget.
And let's talk about the pacing-each episode hits like a slap from your drunk uncle at Christmas. One minute you're wheezing with laughter, the next you're thinking, "Should I call a therapist?" But you don't, because you're already binging the next episode while chewing on the remains of your moral compass.
I laughed so hard I think I blacked out. My dog left the room. My grandma stopped texting me. And I regret nothing.
10/10. Would sell my soul to see Season 2.

To preface - I think Tom is hilarious and have seen him live. This felt nothing like his other comedy and more like he was creating it based off of his journal from when he was 12 years old.
I suffered through the first two episodes of this disaster and all I want is those 30 minutes back.
Childish, gross humor that I'd expect from a teenage boy. Absolutely no plot to anything for these strangely short 15 min episodes. I don't know who encouraged him to create this show, much less actually stand behind getting it on Netflix. I can't understand how a single person voted this anything other than 1 star.
Please, do not waste your time.

Very entertaining if you are a fan of Tom's comedy brand.
Hilarious and refreshingly shocking unlike the conveyor belt scripts we see all the time. Can have more season as the topics are literally endless. If you understand dark comedy and are an actual fan of Toms comedy you shouldn't be offended. I actually recognized a lot of his material from his stand ups and podcast.
Tom proves he has got the acting chops! Really hope this is picked up for another season or two. Also think he showed a range in his acting abilities. Anyone who has seen bad acting in indie movies or even uninteresting netflix shows knows he did an excellent job.
Hope to see him attempt a serious role down the line.

Segura basically tries to rip off Bill Burr's ROKU show and elements of ITYSL as well, but it completely fails and misses the mark. Gross out attempts at comedy and poor acting by Segura. His early stand up was pretty good, but his work has steadily declined in recent years. His podcast is garbage now, and the best thing he's done in recent memory was when he destroyed himself trying to play basketball. "Tires" is a much better show... as is ITYSL and just about everything else on Netflix or streaming anywhere. The worst part are when Segura talks to the camera and tries to be snarky and funny... he just comes off as a total prick, and I believe that is an accurate portrayal of how he really is. Born into wealth, he's always had a sense of entitlement and thinks he's superior to everyone else.

Couldn't get past the first episode. Don't even care if the next episodes are slightly better since they decided on such a shockingly bad pilot that feels like a terrible rip off of Tim Robinson's "I Think You Should Leave".
And no, I was not offended by any of it. I also didn't find any of it funny or even entertaining.
Darker humor doesn't automatically equal "rebel, genius jokes that only the finest sense of humor would get and like"... but I guess people that rated this a 10 would disagree on that.
Please do yourself a favor and just go outside to breathe some fresh air instead of watching this.

I had know idea what to expect. I enjoyed it a lot, very funny and very well done, not cringey at all. Honestly, one of the best short series I have seen in a long time. I would recommend it if you enjoy black mirror and immature comedy and dark humour. I enjoyed all the different stories. Bobby lee made an appearance, enjoyed his acting, truly a a very funny show and actually watchable, watched it all in one go. I would love a second season. The show includes a lot in it, besides the humour, it is thought provoking in a very dark way. I don't know what else to say but give it a a watch and it won't disappoint.

I did not be expect much, but it was pretty lazy comedy and most just poop jokes. I guess there was some good content in there, then some more poop. Could have been better, but felt lazy over all.
Definitely not for kids, maybe teen boys at best.
So if you are 15 or 16, this may be for you. But for anyone with an evolved sense of appreciation for comedy, this is pretty weak. I know he has his fanboys who clearly love everything he does, regardless of how lazy it feels. I would not trust those 10 star reviews though. Either they are people who worked on the show, fanboys or his family. Nobody walked in to this and gave it a top rating.
