There's a running joke online about Netflix canceling an amazing new series after just one season, while the streamer-turned-production studio spends millions every couple of years on the latest season of Stranger Things or Big Mouth. While fans once had one or two examples to throw at Netflix when making the argument, we're opening Pandora's Box, as new data has confirmed what we all knew about the monolith of streaming services. TV shows get canceled all the time, mainly due to poor ratings or excessive costs that cannot be maintained in the long-run. But, especially in 2024, Netflix had a habit of canceling some of their best new shows.
According to data from Watch In America, Netflix culled the most original programming of any streamer, or network in general, last year. The study counted new and ongoing shows that Netflix either canceled outright, or renewed for final seasons last year. 16 shows were properly canceled last year,...

Netflix led the pack in cancellations for 2024, ending more shows than any other network or streaming platform. Altogether, Netflix bid farewell to 22 series in 2024, a mix of outright cancellations and planned conclusions, reaffirming its reputation for high turnover in original programming after the outcry over the seemingly abrupt axing of beloved series like Kaos.
According to a new study by Watch In America, the streaming giant cancelled 16 English-language shows outright this year, with an additional six being granted final seasons to conclude their stories. Here's a full list of Netflix shows cancelled in 2024:

Now that 2024 has come to a close, it’s official, Netflix once again handed out the most cancellations in the calendar year – though at this point, I don’t think anyone will find this surprising. While the streaming platform has gotten better as the years have gone by in giving shows final seasons and the chances to establish themselves with audiences, the streaming platform continues to have some of the biggest cancellation rates in the business and 2024 was no different.
In total, Netflix canceled 16 shows in 2024 while also handing six additional shows their walking papers with final season orders which are about as close to cancellations as you can get the only difference being that those lucky six shows will get to actually wrap up their runs with proper sendoffs. So when you combine the two groups, Netflix decided to end a whopping 22 shows in 2024 be it by canceling them directly or ordering final seasons.

Making It In Marbella season 2 might be around the corner after a successful premiere of its first season. The reality television show made a name for itself after its premiere on October 2, 2024. Making It In Marbella season 1 followed the lives of the Homerun Brokers as they sold lavish properties on the Spanish coast. Homerun Brokers is the Spanish version of the Oppenheim Group in Los Angeles from the fellow Netflix series, Selling Sunset. The opening shot of Making It In Marbella showed luxurious properties that overlooked the ocean in the Spanish coastal city.
Eric Ebbing, the founder of Homerun Broker, said that his estate firm catered to the needs of the "rich Swedes" who needed a getaway place. He opened the firm in 2020 with a team of 24 members worldwide. The Swedish entrepreneur had a similar goal to the Oppenheim brothers - to sell some of the most exquisite properties to the rich and famous.

Netflix’s latest data dump has given more insight into its decision-making process when it comes to renewals and cancellations.
While the streamer has always said those decisions come down to performance vs. cost, its third What We Watched report is beginning to crystallize what some of the thresholds are for various genres, as well as what “performance” means to Netflix beyond just raw viewership numbers.
Obliterated and Dead Boy Detectives were the two shows to get the axe this year that drew the most views from January to June, though it was clearly not enough to keep either show alive.
Obliterated was No. 1 among cancelled shows, tallying 13.3M views in the first half of the year, coming in 83rd for all titles. The show was released at the end of November 2023, and it accumulated 27M views through the end of December, which actually put it among Netflix’s Top...

Selling Sunset Season 8 was one of the most dramatic seasons of the Netflix hit, featuring shifting cast dynamics, relationship-ending bombshells, and a cliffhanger that must be addressed.
While reunion episodes of the show have aired sporadically, Selling Sunset Season 8 is the only season that deserves one.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until Selling Sunset Season 9 for more from our favorite Oppenheim Group realtors because the cast will not be assembled before then.
Variety first reported the shocking news, which is a bummer for Selling Sunset’s passionate fan base.
At the beginning of Selling Sunset Season 8, the Oppenheim Group had peace and unity.
Still, by the season’s end, every bond was fractured, leaving many questions about what’s sure to be an imminent shakeup on the horizon.

Selling Sunset Season 8 pulled no punches and sent the storylines in different directions.
Through 11 episodes, we watched the ladies of the Oppenheim Group sell beautiful houses and get immersed in much drama.
For Chelsea Lazkani, the season was profoundly personal after she learned midway through that someone had spotted her husband with another woman at the W hotel.
Chelsea’s former enemy, Bre Tiesi, learned the news from new cast member Amanda Lynn.
“I don’t know how the f–k this is supposed to come out of my mouth right now,” Bre shared.
“A friend I’ve known for a couple of years, Amanda, asked to go to lunch. She told me that her friend, who she’s still very close with and sees, lives at the W Hotel in Hollywood and that he saw your husband with some girl…,” she added.
Did Bre purposefully reveal this information on camera?...

Buying London will not return for a second season. Netflix has canceled the real estate reality series, which aired in May on the streaming service. The series is a spin-off of Selling Sunset, which is set to premiere its eighth season on Friday.
The reality series followed the real estate agency run by Daniel Daggers. Each episode followed Daggers and his agents as they worked to sell properties in London.
According to Deadline, a spokeswoman for Daniel Daggers Real Estate Global said the following:
“Buying London did exactly what we wanted it to do – it enabled us to put Ddre Global on an international stage, and as a result, generated record interest in our business. We are at the forefront of contemporising an archaic industry by embracing new technologies and ways to communicate to likeminded people communities, which...

Exclusive: Buying London, the UK’s answer to Selling Sunset, has failed to land the keys to a second season with Netflix.
A spokeswoman for the streamer confirmed the cancelation to Deadline but declined to comment further.
Much like its successful American sibling, Buying London followed a high-end estate agent in the capital run by property tycoon Daniel Daggers.
In each ep, Daggers’ agents competed to sell spectacular properties in and around the capital, with eps titled ‘Let the Property Games Begin’, ‘The Loudest Agent in the Room’ and ‘It Takes Two To Tango’. As with Selling Sunset, some agents built personal brands as property influencers on social media.
The show from Fremantle-backed UK producer Naked made a brief foray into the Netflix UK top-10 when it launched in May but failed to land in any great way. It amassed middling reviews, with The Guardian going further by calling it...

Bad news for fans of Netflix's real estate reality series universe: A fan-favorite title was just put on the market. Unfortunately, Buying Beverly Hills was canceled by Netflix after two seasons. Don't let the "on the market" pun fool you, though. The series isn't being shopped to another streamer or network.
Buying Beverly Hills first made its premiere on Netflix in November 2022 and returned for its much more dramatic and talked about second season in March 2024. The real estate series followed the personal and professional life of Mauricio Umansky and his staff and fellow real estate agents at The Agency.
In season 2, the series traced the dramas in Umansky's split from Real Housewives star and Halloween actress Kyle Richards. The series also starred three of their four daughters, Farrah Brittany and Alexia Umansky, who work with Mauricio at The Agency, with Sophia Umanksy joining in season 2.

Jennifer Lopez’s “Atlas” was the most-watched title on Netflix for the week of May 20-26, reaching 28.2 million views in its first three days of availability. The movie stars Lopez in the title role as she investigates a fugitive AI terrorist played by Simu Liu.
The next-most-watched title, which unsurprisingly led the week’s TV chart, was “Bridgerton” Season 3, which hit 25.3 million views in Part 1’s first full week of availability. That’s a decrease from the 45.1 million views the season reached in its debut weekend, and Netflix’s biggest titles do tend to increase in viewership the first weeks after their openings, but in this case, the decrease is expected. As only four episodes are currently available, clocking in at a total of 3 hours and 40 minutes, it was easier for viewers to complete their binges upon release than with previous seasons, where all eight episodes have dropped at once.

As summer approaches (for the Northern Hemisphere at least), Netflix is set to premiere a fresh season of one of its biggest hits.
Brigerton season 3 is set to arrive on May 16 and will debut a “new crop of debutantes” into the regency drama fray. Other original series of note this month include Indian drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (May 1), the Jeff Daniels-starring A Man in Full (May 2), and intriguing Korean title The 8 Show (May 17). Of course, Netflix is also rolling out a suite of true crime docs and docuseries as well. Chief among those options is Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal on May 15.
It’s the movie side of things where Netflix is feeling particularly lively though. May 3 sees the arrival of Jerry Seinfeld Pop Tart comedy Unfrosted. That will be followed by rom-com Mother of the Bride (May 9) and the Jennifer Lopez-starring Atlas (May 24).

"Buying London" premieres in May, showcasing British luxury & high-stakes drama. The show will focus on Daniel Daggers & his team navigating London's real estate market. Expect monologues, drone shots & breakout stars in exclusive London neighborhoods.
Netflix announced a new reality property show, Buying London, which will premiere in May and is the UK's answer to America's Buting Beverly Hills or Selling Sunset. The show will present British luxury and high-stakes drama with a distinctly London flavor, as it follows a crew of real estate agents selling affluent apartments in England. This UK version will focus on the private lives of the agents as much as it does on the property.
The recently concluded Buying Beverly Hills focused on Mauricio Unmasky's and Kyle Richard's split. While the series did focus on luxury real estate in Los Angeles, Mauricio's marriage took center stage due to his wife being a star on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

It’s season finale time for networks, but Netflix, naturally, still has plenty of brand new TV and shows coming in May.
Jeff Daniels makes his TV return in the David E. Kelley series “A Man in Full.” That six-episode series is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Tom Wolfe. Per a press release: “When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.” The series will also star Tom Pelphrey, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill and Chanté Adams.
Additionally, comedy fans can get excited for a new special series from John Mulaney. The comedian is hosting a multi-night event, “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” that looks to be part interview show and part man-on-the-street hijinks.
