Very Channel 4.

While this is a Netflix show, it's really a show which is very similar to something you would have seen on Channel 4 at some point in your life.

The show is advertised as Bear Grylls hunting down celebrity's in the jungle, but in reality he's just playing hide and seek with them in a closed off area. An area which, as you continue to watch the episodes, you soon realize is very small.

This premise is quite entertaining early on but becomes repetitive by around the third or forth time they do it since the escape roots are the same rotation.

The enjoyment is also ruined the moment it becomes apparent Bear knows exactly where all the exits of the "Bear pit" are, so he just waits close by for the celebrities to come to him.

Each episode could probably be helped by being a little shorter, as other than the odd bits of drama that the daily challenges create, they can feel a bit long as we continuously hear over an over about how hot the weather is.

Overall its just ok, something to pass the time if you want something easy to watch, but i cant help feel like it could have been a lot more than it is.

Its dumb but you can watch it

I mean it's obviously scripted and not real. They can "evade" bear if they choose but there is no way the production crew would let them do that. Walk 50m in a random direction in the pit and then lie down and cover themselves with leaves and branches would have a 100% success rate of evading capture, but no way they would be allowed to do that.

Other than watching a bunch of unfit old incapable "celebs" wander around aimlessly not understanding what they are doing, there is not much to see here.

It's noise in the background while you do something else, I personally was baking some amazing food, good background noise.

Also as an aside, when did men become so pathetic and incapable of handling anything?

Not bad

I did actually enjoy the show for the most part. Not sure what the point was in having Holly Willougby there though. She didn't do anything and her links were totally unnecessary and sometimes annoying. Would have been better to have a voiceover from someone like Vernon Kay or someone else with some charisma.

I guess you are supposed to ignore the fact that the camera team would obviously give away the location of the celebritys but still watched all of the episodes. Quite liked the choice of celebrities taking part. Shirley Ballas in particulary was very good and showed what a nice lady she is as well as demonstrating what keeping fit in your later years can do for you.

Fictional junk

How can you hide from someone when being followed by a film crew? Unrealistic and bogus. If you are going to make a survival based program, then it has to be real. I was hoping of better things, but alas it suck a fat one. Most of the Z list celebrities are annoying at best and have just turned up for the pay cheque. If this is the best that Netflix can produce then i will have to reconsider my subscription. If you want to see better survival program they could learn from Alone and Australian survivor. I'm not sure what Bear Grills has been on, but why does he insist on trying to look flash by sky diving out of helicopters and driving monster trucks. God only knows why Holly Willoughby is on the show (she brings absolutely nothing to it)

Quite Good

Very good show. Quite enjoyable.

You don't get to see much contestant development . It seems very rushed though; cheap editing style. Very good cinematography and use of angles. It's sometimes creates overly dramatic in certain scenes but lackluster in ones that could be milked of its dramatics.

Did love it though.

It kept adding in twist like not being allowed to evade; then removing it two episodes. The finale didn't do alot. You barely got to know Una then she gets to the final and I was just questioning whether or not she had been added in the last episode. My main problem though was putting Lawrence into unsafe conditions nearly letting him die.

I am being very nit pick. I did still enjoy it as you can see I gave it a 7/10.

Hmmm.....

Its "Celebrities" playing hide and seek for an hour then crying to camera saying its the toughest challenge they've ever faced. If 6 year olds play it for fun then its not that intense and the over the top breakdowns to camera come off a bit ridiculous.

There's too big a divide between the level of difficulty and the contestants reactions all the way through, at one point one of them's talking about how the experience has changed her forever..... that's fine but it was the second day and she hadn't even been in the 'Bearpit' yet, which is where they play hide and seek.

It's watchable but it's more of a background show while you're doing housework, no need to lock in.

Have you all forgotten what fun is!?

Man, some of the reviewers on hear need to get a life and stop taking things so seriously 😒 I was completely drawn in for the entire series and finished it all in a few days.

It was gloriously fun 😁. All the contestants had their moments and there wasnt a dull moment in the series 😀. If you enjoy big brother, I'm a celeb, Hunted and Bear Grylls then go for it you won't be disappointed. If you're a dry 💩 then don't even bother and go watch breaking bad or whatever you cool kids are into 😎 . Hopefully the dry 💩's don't ruin it for the rest of us as I'd love more of this. Bring on season 2! Ok that's it im finished now can I post? No come on.

It is Bear, what is there not to enjoy.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I put Celebrity Bear Hunt on, but I can at least say that I was not disappointed. I loved watching the chemistry between the celebrities, watching male egos get trampled on and the unlikely succeed. I give all the celebrities full credit because this looked tough. I am 100% sure I wouldn't have made it past one activity, let alone be able to go into the Bear Pit. I wasn't overly impressed with who Bear selected as the winner, but nevertheless, Celebrity Bear Hunt is a great show if you just have some time to kill and enjoy a bit of survival reality television.

Great fun!!

It's a fun show and an easy watch. The celebreties, are funny and some are touching (Lottie Moss). The low rating is just people being a bit grinchy. It's great escapism and an entertaining watch in a beautiful location! The heat alone equals genuine struggling!

There are some genuinely dangerously situations that with all the safety plans in the world, mean accidents can be unavoidable!!

All in all a lot of fun and entertainment for the whole family! Order in a big takeaway and gather everyone around!

The whole family can take something from it! Everyone in my house has vastly differing tastes in T. V but this has something for everyone!

Celebrity Bear Hunt

'Bear Hunt' - see what they did there? Because he's Bear Grylls...

Yes, that's about as clever as this show actually gets.

It does however offer a lifeline for those Z list celebs who missed the boat to appear on 'I'm a Celeb' and want their failings to be seen on a less accessible show. The BBC surely missed a trick losing out on this to Netflix.

This show serves its purpose for them, and for Holly to 'spread her wings' away from the trappings of her 'This Morning' persona, and most likely have a happier time than she experiences on the utterly woeful 'Dancing on Ice'.

Is this good? No. It will however give ITV a shot in the arm that a) Holly is courting other work away from them, and that b) they can't let 'I'm a Celeb' coast on its past glories when there's imitators being made.

I really wanted to like this..

However, it's nothing short of scripted false nonsense. Z List celebrities with zero people skills or like-ability sitting around arguing or pretending to be chased by a disinteresting Bear Grylls. Even he looks like he can't be bothered with the show. Had any aspect of this show be realistic or unscripted then it would be a delight. Unfortunately it's a big thumbs down.

Many of the celebrities appearing on the show are rude, narcissistic and difficult to watch. Mel B needs to give up and call it a day in the spotlight. Her 5 minutes of fame in the 90s are well and truly over and her desperation for relevance makes this show even drearier.

Hmmm this review will contain sarcasm...

Ok, so picture this, Holly Willoughby and Bear Grylls in Netflix head office and they turn up and say "so we have this idea..." So several celebrities who aren't remotely tough enough for SAS who dares wins and dont want to be humiliated with I'm a celebrity get out of here decide the costa Rican jungle is the place for them... i can't decide if they pitched this as are doing Hunger Games or Anneka Rice's treasure hunt, this show is so confused, so silly, and overly dramatic but somehow I am enjoying watching this pruned and pampered idiots get chased around the jungle! Hide and seek is for winners?

WWJD Bear Grylls? Retire from making TV !

Very amusing show if you like laughing at Bear Grylls self-obsessed narcissistic ego trip in an attempt to recover some dignity following an ill conceived association with Russell Brand and having to resign as head scout !!!!!!

We howled with laughter after Bear made many inappropriate entrances showing off to the C-list celebs. Holly Willoughby was an absolute delight with fantastic outfits as was Shirley. We are still unsure why Bear is carrying a rope for 7 episodes. Special Forces personnel - avoid watching this as entitled TA / SAS Reserve of 3 years Bear Grylls fails to not disappoint. !!!

Actually very decent TV

I didn't have high hopes, but I haven't been able to stop watching. Bear Grylls: Celebrity Bear Hunt is surprisingly entertaining, mixing adventure, survival, and suspense. Watching celebrities struggle under pressure, trying to outwit Bear in the wild, is both intense and fun. Some rise to the challenge, while others crumble. Hearing some of their stories from outside the show was also very interesting. The cinematography is pretty good, and Bear's tracking skills remind me of the early days of bear grylls. Though some moments feel staged, it's still a must-watch. I really hope this becomes a regular show!

SCRIPTED

I expected better from the man the myth the legend 🐻

After watching Bear Grylls The Island I expected so much better, that show was far more realistic apart from the last season when they added money.

On this the characters act shocked when they get caught but both the contestants and bear have cameramen following them, I'm sorry but nobody doesn't see a grown man carrying a heavy camera from a while away unless you're purposefully looking the other way when he's "sneaking up" oh and I'm also pretty sure there's a bunch of fake animals lol

Absolutely shocking 1 Star at best, probably the worst bear show out there.

Loved it

They are ordinary people facing challenges from Bear Grylls in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle, just the fact that they are in CR jungle, the heat, the humidity and the wild life are a huge factor to survive there and someone chasing you all the time. I mean common, It is exciting, full of adrenaline, and lots of fun. You need to be there to fully understand the complexity.

I wish there are more shows like this, including new participants and more challeging escape situations.

Some viewers might find it boring, but as mentioned they are celebrities but at the end just ordinary people, you can not expect that those celebrities do things that Bear does on his regular shows.

Infuriating

This show is infuriatingly staged. The program promises wilderness survival with the premise of 'bear' catching the celebrities (glorified hide and seek) yet the person chosen to be caught/go out is obviously chosen by the producers. When even if someone is really bad at the game, if they have drama they get to stay in to make that aspect of the show more 'entertaining'.

The show can only be binged with the challenges lasting one and a half episodes. So the only way to watch is to binge. There are very clear ends of where the episodes should be but they are ignored and therefore run on.

Over all it was just disappointing and rather anoying.

Not a good survival show but not even a good reality tv show.
