Gave the first episode a watch, but it was pretty average. It is a fun kids show, but I'm not a kid any more I guess. I'm sure that for new watchers who never saw the original, they would probably enjoy this show.
The only reason I rate a 5 is because of nostalgia factor.
I can't stand the Billie character. I don't know why, but they just seem really annoying and unlikeable. The show gives no reason for us to want to like them or see them succeed.
Why would we want to watch more except for nostalgia reasons, but I don't think there will be much of that. So again, this show will be fine for new kids to get into, but for older viewers, probably not.

I love that it's a reboot of a show we all loved, and although it's for kid's, many people watching are adults that are lovers of the original. That being said, besides Justin and Alex, the characters & script are badly written. The entire premise feels lazy. There is no natural progression of the story and it all feels forced. Everyone knows wizards exist and the magic doesn't feel special anymore. The children are written without their own specific personalities and are just far too precocious. None of the lines are funny and the audience struggles to connect with any of the new characters. The original was more mature and well written. Overall just disappointed.
Its a great blend of the original format of the show whilst keeping it relevant to current times with enough change to jeep it fresh and interesring.
I had reservations about it before it was released but im pleased to say that its just as fun as the original series with Billie being amazingly similar to alex with the boys being perfectly written as Justin's and Max's characters.
Absolutely love the twists with Billie learning to control her magic as well as the brilliant stories and funny moments.
The familiarity and use of original sets and subtle character mentions make this a must watch for anyone who was a fan of the original series.

My kids watched this growing up and were obcessed and now my grandkids are loving it. My adult kids were always hoping that the show would come back and it did.
David and Selena still got it. The new cast fit right in and we love the transition to the story. And wait to see more of the series. We are looking forward to seeing more of the past characters blend in from time to time. David Henrie is hysterical And the kids that were chosen for him were cast perfectly. We don't want to compare it to the first show because it's not this is a continuation and people need to realize that. Just like in real life things change.

- TriviaMost of the furniture in The Lair is the original furniture from the original series.
- GoofsA major theme of the original Wizards of Waverly Place series was that Wizards cannot marry Non-Wizards. This rule was what lead Jerry Russo to surrender his powers, giving him the ability to marry Theresa. Since Justin still maintains his magic and Wizard status, he should not have been able to marry Giada, a Non-Wizard.
