Telekom Srbija Looks to Cross Borders, Push Boundaries While Setting Sights on Global Market

Already the most prolific producer of TV content in Serbia, leading telecommunications company Telekom Srbija is shifting gears as it looks to grow its international footprint and capitalize on growing demand for high-end drama series from the Balkan region.

“The appetite for high-quality scripted content is stronger than ever, and Serbian talent — both in front of and behind the camera — is finally getting the international recognition it deserves,” says Aleksandra Martinović, director of Telekom Srbija’s multimedia division.

Having produced more than 200 titles in the past six years alone — including breakout hits like the gritty crime drama “South Wind” and the groundbreaking dystopian epic “The Will of the Son” — the company is ramping up its international collaborations and doubling down on its goal “to be a regional content leader with global relevance,” according to Martinović.

In Rheinstadt, a gray-skied post-industrial city, its progressive mayor and a criminal law expert close a local correctional facility, reintegrating its inmates into society. The fates of the ex-cons steadily intertwine with that of Rheinstadt itself. This eight-episode series is backed by European heavyweights Canal + and Ard.
