Emotional, subtle and smart, with an intricate plot that makes all the characters more complicated and more interesting as the story moves along. By showing the connections between climate change and the flaws in human nature, the film manages to take a seemingly small-scale story about personal relationships and gradually build it into a much bigger and more profound vision of how we need to change before we can hope to save the planet. The script, the directing and the acting all work well together to maintain the film's special combination of intimacy along with larger and more philosophical issues. I also liked the warmth and humour in the film, rare in a movie this ambitious.
