BENİM DÜNYAM has a plot strongly reminiscent of THE MIRACLE WORKER (1962), although the earlier movie is not credited. In Uğur Yücel's sentimental piece, a young deaf and dumb girl Eda (Beren Saat) is gradually socialized into a normal life through the efforts of a dedicated teacher Mahir (Yücel). The process is not without its problems; her father (Turgay Kantürk) would much rather see her in a mental home. Out of sight, out of mind, as they say.

The plot is a familiar one; and Yücel's film is not helped by a rudimentary shooting-style, alternating between shot/reverse shot and group shots. He employs only one really effective technique as he zooms slowly into close-ups of the characters' faces at moments of extreme emotion.

The film is full of anachronisms - although supposed to take place over a thirty-year period, neither Eda's father or mother (Ayça Bingöl) seem to age much - unlike Mahir, who sprouts a distinguished head of gray hair as the movie unfolds. The Seventies sequences are marred by jarring moments; it highly unlikely that a bride and groom would kiss one another on the lips immediately after the wedding ceremony, especially if they were in public. Mahir's descent into Alzheimer's Disease seems unconvincing; he moves in and out of forgetfulness, and then is suddenly robbed of the power of speech until Eda "redeems" him right at the end. I wish that the disease could be so easily alleviated.

Nonetheless, BENİM DÜNYAM remains highly watchable on account of Yücel's towering central performance as Mahir. His obsession is well illustrated through gestures; and his emotional concern for Eda's welfare is underlined during one particularly moving sequence when he reads out a speech prepared by her at a dinner, but finds himself unable to continue as the tears well up inside him. Yücel is supported by an effective cameo from Erdal Küçükkömürcü as a university administrator - although conscious about his position and the future of his institution, he tempers efficiency with human feeling, especially where Eda's and Mahir's futures are concerned.

Perhaps the music could have been a little less intrusive - it forms a mournful backdrop to most of the scenes - but nonetheless BENİM DÜNYAM is worth a look.

Spoiler free review! Not one of the best movies I've watched. It has its parts that are not believable. The music becomes repetitive towards the end. And as far as I know, its a Turkish take to an other movie. So no, its not an original script.

Being sad all that, This movie is a wonderful story and a very, very beautiful, life changing message. It will fill you with hope, joy, and peace. And after watching it you will feel vary grateful for what you have.

Even thou some details will take you out of the experience, the acting of the main characters is SO GOOD that it will take you right back to it. The acting is really one of the best I've ever seen.

This is exactly what a drama movie is supposed to be. As a movie, it has its flaws but as a story, as a message, as an experience... Its something that will change the world for better. I recommend it to everyone.

Ps. If it was an original story I would have given it an 8.

Everything fits perfectly, during the movie i literally cried 3 times.

I know it's the remake of ''The miracle worker'' and ''Black''. I watched both but the acting skills on those movies are way to bad. Also the soundtracks were not as great as i thought it would be. I saw so many people reacting like ''Black is better, better sound, much more dramatic'' which is absolutely not true.

Benim dunyam have better actors, more dramatic scenes, way better film producers. But its so freaking underrated. I watched this movie atleast 5 times...

You could say this wasn't a movie but rather the glorious flow of life and the gift of life🍃 Every moment of it was a lesson in the knowledge of life and the love of giving life I loved every moment of it and watched it with love and enjoyed it 🌱 So thank you to all the people who made this extremely impressive and lovely film 👏🏻 I suggest you look with love enthusiasm and hope and enjoy watching the beautiful flow of life I feel that we all have moments when we can be the savior of another human life Finally I would like to say that life is like ice cream it should be enjoyed before it melts 💖

The first time of my life while i am critisizing a movie, i am also critisize users who vote it. How could anyone give a score under 8 or 9 or even 10 for this movie?

I admit that this is a marvelous story, they are perfect actors, perfect sound, costomes, scenes, beginning, even its a perfect drama movie beside i dont like dramas.

I believe that the most strong energy which i was take through it, was naturality..

Beren and Ugur and every actors act in a marvelous way!

Bad remake of Black, the main actors are not as good as the Hindi movie, though the Hindi one is already a remake of Miracle worker, with an Indian touch, and a Sanjay Leela Bhensaly method and trade mark of directing.. the Turkish vr. is not good enough! Overacting, bad script, the music is awful..nothing is good about this one except the beauty of Beren Saat!!!

Benim Dünyam is a Turkish remake of the 2005 film: "Black". Most of the viewers don't know that. And it's probably why this film loved so much.

The script has no difference with the 2005 film. The atmosphere is prosperous. It boasts a pair of eminently likable leads (Uğur Yücel and Beren Saat), their performances are so good - neither of whom are able to dislodge the movie from the mire of drama mediocrity. It's a disappointment from director Uğur Yücel.

If you didn't watch the original, it will be very affective for you and you will enjoy it. If I were you I think I would prefer to watch the original.

Just like hollywood , turkish film industry can not produce anything new and has to steal ideas from different markets. waste ... keep scrolling...
