raises a pertinent issue

At a farmhouse, a lone man and three married couples get together to socialize. Suddenly the lights go off and the sound of a slap and a kiss reaches our ears. What could this indicate? That a woman slapped a man after he forcibly smooched her? But did the lady not enjoy the kiss? Has infidelity become common these days? Can a married man be just "friends" with a married lady, or would it lead to something more intense? A bolder script would have done wonders, but Marathi movie #AlibabaAaniChalishitaleChor raises a pertinent issue and keeps you engaged in the proceedings. Performances and direction are excellent. Running time needs to be reduced by 15 minutes. Rating 3.5/5.

Misleading the Forties

This weekend was a friends GTG event and so to make it more memorable we decided to watch the recently released Marathi movie,"Alibaba and Chalishitle Chor"..as we could identify with the title....as we all were "40+" too.... It also has a strong starcast, Mukta Barve, Subodh Bhave, Shruti Marathe, Madhura Velenkar, Umesh Kamat, Anand Ingle and Atul Parchure..all stalwarts of Marathi film industry..whom we can call..."Hadaache kalakaar". So it was surely goin to be a treat to watch them all in one movie.

The movie began with a mysterious event and then revolved around solving this mystery....exposing every character, every relation on its way.... Thus making us go bonkers.... Until the Interval, I was not sure what the film maker wanted to imply but at the same time I had faith in the story teller, rather Marathi Film Industry that they would end this movie on a Positive note and send the right message to the masses.... But alas! They proved me wrong.....

There has always been a debate about ethics in our society... What is right? ...what is wrong?

And yet these Ethics have been in existence to remind us that we are humans and so, different from Animals.

This film reveals that to add spice to ur life, when u r goin through a midlife crisis anything you do should be acceptable.

They try to project that flirting, having an extra marital affair, hiding ur multiple relations from ur spouse, in ur 40s is the "new normal" and so in order to make ur lousy, tirant, stagnant married life work, indulging in these ventures should be encouraged and totally understood as ethical.

This, they emphasise will make ur married life tolerant and lasting.

This came as a shock to me, to receive this message from the actors whom I adore very much.

I have always believed that movies play a very important role in imparting education and sending a strong message in society.

I know we get to see many movies selling the wrong message and ideologies but I was not expecting it to come from my Marathi Film Industry and definitely not from this Cast whom I considered to be highly responsible individuals.

I felt that the thriving of Group Get to gethers wherein we meet our School and College Batchmates is in danger.

I could see some cracks coming up in some married couples due to doubt and mistrust.

I am not in denial of such happenings in society but to glorify them and to make it sound natural and thus forgivable is what freaks me out the most.

We need to reflect that, Is this the only way to make our marriage work?

Can't u spend some quality time together, express and speak with each other?

Communicate..Go out ..just the 2.

Do sumthing together what u both Love to do.

Why can't we invest in 'us' to spice up our married life instead of searching for that spice elsewhere?

Is this not possible?

It is totally Possible..

Do watch this movie just to see what you must not do in ur married life and work together to make it interesting and loving too.

Dedicated to all the Married Couples.

Stupidity and Total Nonsense

This is a total wastage of time. This movie has come on OTT, but please do not waste your time on it.

A complete waste of time. I am shocked on how come such movies are even made.

Surprisingly all good stars from the Marathi Industry are casted in it. But still they couldn't save it.

The story is a total nonsense. Does not make any sense. The logic is missing.

They are trying to show some thing which I feel people cannot relate to.

So please save your time and do not invest it in watching this utter nonsense movie.

If had a chance to give negative or zero star would have done that........ A total Disappointment.

What a Wow!!!!!

Hey everyone, this movie is fantastic. First of all the casting OMG! Mukta barve, Umesh kamat, Subodh Bhave, Anand Ingale, Shruti Marathe, Atul Parchure & Madhura......well casted for this movie. This movie is about marital life after 40....how they struggle to manage their relations with their life partner and friends. Director did great job here. Its a complete package of entertainment with roller coster emotions, laughters, sarcasm, drama and it also make you think about what excatly you need at certain age and are you taking any efforts for that? It also shows balancing relations is not just a easy task. Relation and communication is 2 way process and you have to work every single day to maintain the balance. I really enjoyed this movie. Must watch. All green flags from my side.

Mature and meaningful cinema

Marathi movies have been known for producing meaningful stories since many years now. This one is a perfect example and totally relatable. It explores the human side of people without trying to judge them. It has been able to dissect every character in the movie including the probable reason for why they must have acted the way they did which makes it such a great experience to watch it. Sometimes, we see many reels preaching about extra marital affairs, etc. But this movie is able to handle the topic beautifully without being over the top. Though the title could have been better.

Must watch movie...
