Please turn off the laugh track.

The show has potential. The first episode was cute but not terribly funny. What was extremely annoying was the constant laugh track. Constantly hearing people laugh like crazy at things that might (might) be cute but are certainly not funny distracts from the show. Other than that the show certainly has potential. The cast is strong and fun to watch. After The Big Band and Young Sheldon it's interesting to see what the family is up to. Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage continues the family story leading us back to The Big Bang. I like that many of the characters from Young Sheldon are part of the new series and I hope they continue to make appearances.

Please step away from the laugh track button

It is annoying, distracting, and completely pointless. Either bring in a studio audience like The Big Bang Theory, or do without completely it like Young Sheldon. Seriously, it is even worse than the one used on How I Met Your Mother (which is saying something).

Other than that, this show has promise. The pilot episode is a bit clunky, but that is true for most shows. Given enough time, this could be a pretty good spinoff (of a spinoff).

Seriously get rid of that horrendous laugh track. Even if it cured cancer, ended racism, stopped hunger, and brought about world peace... it still wouldn't be worth it.

Good, but definitely needs some changes!

This review is solely based on the first episode. I'll update the review after the season finale. First of all, it's great that we're still getting content for the Big Bang Theory "universe". I enjoyed most of BBT, and really enjoyed Young Sheldon even more in many ways. With Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage (G&MFM), we get the same wonderful characters from Young Sheldon from Mandy's side, with thankfully cameos from Georgie's family, such as his mom and MeeMaw (who I wish were also regulars or at least frequent recurring cast). The story so far is just ok, it's basically about the couple trying to survive while raising a daughter, while also dealing with Mandy's parents. All of that is decent so far. Here's some things that desperately need to change though: (1) As most of the other reviews mention - The laugh track/audience NEEDS to go, it's both annoying and dated. One of the biggest changes from BBT to Young Sheldon was the removal of the laugh track, and that made the series much more enjoyable so we the viewers can focus on the characters/story. I really hope they reconsider and remove it. (2) Mandy's mom for some reason seems different in character compared to her character on Young Sheldon. It's not just her hairstyle, but it almost feels like she forgot how to act like the character. I actually enjoyed her character on Young Sheldon, so I think the director needs to do a better job at directing the cast to be consistent with their characters. But I'll give that a pass for now since it's just the first episode. (3) The music choice throughout the episode is really unfitting. Using it in the opening credits actually fits because they're dancing (and I actually like it), but using it throughout the episodes feels so random because none of them are Argentinean nor is there any tango dancing theme throughout the show, especially with it being so loud too. I would expect softer, pop-rock background music like in Young Sheldon, or at least music you'd hear in Texas or Mandy's family, in that specific time frame. Hopefully they fix that as well, or at least turn it down a bit because both the laugh track/audience and random tango music is loud and distracting. That's my feedback for now. I'll update again once the season ends.

Will Sasso makes everything better

Boy couch critics can't enjoy anything. Frankly Young Sheldon took awhile to get really good. Most of the first season really. This pilot was solid. Yes, too much with the sound track. What show doesn't these days?

Emily Osment is good as usual. Montana Jordan keeps on delivering as Georgie. It's fun that it's filling in the gaps between Young Sheldon and Big Bang Theory.

The highlight is Will Sasso who plays a great father figure. Really delivering more than I was expecting.

The intro is fantastic!! Hope it doesn't change. And for those of you paying attention THAT'S what actual dancing is.

Great cameos in the pilot. Loved that.

Noticing improvement as it progresses

I am an avid fan of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, so watching this was a given. When I saw the first couple of episodes, I wasn't too sure if I liked it. Like many other reviewers have said, the laugh track just doesn't seem to fit this show and needs to go.

That being said, I find the family dynamic interesting and funny. I'm enjoying the character development and how the storylines are developing into a good series overall. The guest appearances of Georgie's mom and memaw are a fun treat now and then. I wasn't sure about Connor in the beginning. I have seen some growth with his character, but the jury is still out as to whether or not he adds much to the show. I'm hoping his character will have a bigger role in season 2, and he becomes more relevant to the storyline.

Overall, I'm enjoying the show, and I'm looking forward to the next season!

Laugh track needs to go

Worth watching. George and Mandie's First Marriage is a great spinoff from Young Sheldon. The characters are great, relatable, and the storyline is entertaining. However, the laugh track is super, super annoying and it absolutely ruins the show!! Get rid of it for next season, if there is a next season. PLEASE!! NO MORE LAUGH TRACK !! It takes so much away from the show. Other viewers have mentioned this and I have to agree 100%. If there is a chance that this show continues, no laugh track would be the greatest improvement. I also hope to see other Young Sheldon characters in future episodes.

Give It Time to Let It Grow On You

I have high hopes for this sitcom and given a chance and time then it will evolve into something worth more. Will Sasso is a great actor and comedian who is being underused right now. As a sitcom, the premise is weak but it gets better with time and effort. The actors who play George and Mandy are exceptional in their performances. A great supporting cast like Sasso helps the show. Even though it is only thirteen episodes, the show has enormous potential to be big. Guest appearances like Zoe Perry and Annie Potts adds to the show. The sitcom has issues but it is still entertaining and I will keep watching because traditional sitcoms are a dying breed. George and Mandy really came out of nowhere to be a couple worth rooting for and I stiil like them very much.

Georgie is the saving grace, the laugh track HAS GOTS TO GO

The actor who plays Georgie is a genuine find, his character really developed well during the course of Young Sheldon. Mandy is a suitable sidekick, but Georgie really is the heart and soul of the show. Sadly they dropped the Single Camera film format for Multi-camera digital and felt the WRONG need to add that incipit laugh track, ala the new Frazier. The look and feel is off and the Laugh Track is beyond annoying an unnecessary. Funny, they tried to explain it away in the narrative. Didn't work. IT IS NOT NECESSARY AND IS DISTRACTING AND ANNOYING. Even worse, the laugh tracks they use today are so blatantly phony it' pathetic. One of the reasons BBT and YS worked so well was the peripheral characters. They were all wonderful. I don't really see that here. While Mandy's Dad is pretty good, her mom is extremely annoying and one dimensional. Any stroll through past sitcom success stories and failures will show you the ones that succeeded, like King of Queens, Cheers, Seinfeld did so because, in addition to solid main characters, the peripheral side ones were equally interesting, funny and added something to the show. Think Kripke, Will Wheaton, Billy Sparks, Professor Sturgis. The new Frazier fails because other than Frazier, the rest of the cast is boring and bland. Kevin Can Wait failed because, other than Kevin James, the rest of the cast were boring and bland.

A quality light TV show

People are moaning about the laugh track, I like it. I'm sick of TV taking itself so serious in 2025.

This TV show isn't breaking any new ground but it's a good quality TV show thats light and genuinely funny and in today's world of TV kinda of feels fresh (and also a blast from the past at the same time). All the actors are on point and the story is engaging.

I never got into Young Sheldon so I am missing some context and I've not transitioned from that show so I could see how that might be quite jarring. I did however watch Big Bang Theory and whilst I loved that at the time that does feel a little dated now.

Underwhelming at Best

It felt like I stepped back into 2005. The laugh track was overused, the jokes were over the top, and the plot of the first episode felt pointless. The characters are lacking depth and feel more one dimensional compared the shows predecessors. I would have preferred the format to follow that of Young Sheldon as the format with the laugh track doesn't seem to fit. The show does have redeeming qualities with past favorites from YS appearing and the storyline fitting. The opening title theme is an interesting one, but goes well as it gives into the comedy that the writers seemed to be looking to give the show.

Too much laugh track.

My first thought was they are killing things with the overuse of the laugh track. Not all the "jokes" are that funny. So far, the show needs to be less of a typical hit-you-over-the-head, low quality sitcom. The characters have a history and development that needs better incorporating in the story. The writing feels cheap to me. I always found the supporting characters much more interesting on Young Sheldon and was pleased to hear of this spinoff. Everything seems too forced so far. I'm really hoping that the writers find their footing soon with this show. It would be a shame to waste the gift they were given.

Great show for those who miss TBBT and Young Sheldon

Well, I have watched Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory that's why I miss watching them, but this series is bringing the memories back, great work; really appreciate it...I really like the casting and everyone is playing their role perfectly. Additionally Mandy's mom character is great. In first her character was so annoying and I thought it will be the same but after 5 episodes it seems like they are all having a good character buildup. Though I think they should add more new character's to the show because the shows need's more diverse characters. At last please don't stop the show, I look forward to watch the show for a long period of time.. Ciao..

Great show but the music has got to change!

It's a great show, so far. The characters are great, and the actors are still amazing. The laugh track will definitely take some getting used to since these characters don't have a history of having one in the background. There didn't seem to be very much actual show time. There seemed to be a ton of commercials. My biggest issue, at this point, has to be the music. The credit/opening sequence, with the dancing and the horrible music, might be fine in other shows, but it doesn't come close to working put for this show. To make matters worse, we have to here it over and over. It's terribly difficult, but I'll do my best to ignore it......for now.

LAUGH TRACK IS HORRIBLE!!!

Young Sheldon was one of my favorite shows of all time! I was so looking forward to this show! The laugh track is absolutely horrible! Which seems to be the general consensus from the other reviews I've been reading!! Please get rid of it! I feel like I'm watching a bad sitcom from the 70's. In addition, Mandy's mother is one of the most annoying characters ever! Practically unbearable! That being said, I love Georgie, Mandy and Mandy's dad! Also, so great to see Missy, Meemaw, & Mary!! I really hope these three characters appear frequently in this series! Finally, I really like how Georgie goes to his father's grave site and talks him. It's touching!

Little programming, lots of commercials.

Tonight was the premier of this new show, a spin-off from "Young Sheldon" which itself was a spin-off from the "Big Bang Theory." We saw in "Young Sheldon" that brother Georgie got a girl pregnant and they decided to get married. They did, they have a daughter almost one, and they move in with her parents. He goes to work for her dad in his automotive shop. Emily Osment, about 32, is Mandy McAllister, and Montana Jordan, about 21, is Georgie Cooper.

The premise is good and the stars are cute, but frankly there is little continuity with barely 20 minutes of programming and about 10 minutes of commercials in the half-hour time slot. In fact, the first 4-minute commercial break came at only 2 minutes into the first episode. That is disappointing, 2 minutes of programming in the first 6 minutes. I doubt that I'll watch many more episodes, if any. There isn't anything especially striking about the show, it just shows two struggling young parents trying to find their path forward.

Edit NOV 11: Never did watch any additional episodes. The plethora of commercials left an indelible, bad taste with me. Too many choices in programming to watch commercials with a small amount of programming thrown in!

Lots of pros - a few cons

Overall a good show, would definitely recommend a watch - especially if you are a fan of sitcoms -

I am a fan of the pacing of each episode, it is definitely a good pace for sitcoms where its not too fast where you get disorientated but also not slow enough where you get bored, i would say at least 90% of episodes have this that is generally difficult to do.

First when watching this I expected it to be a continuation or based off of the young Sheldon series, but to my pleasant surprise it was very individual and definitely its own show instead of trying to piggy back off the other 2 shows (TBBT and Young Sheldon (YS)). I also enjoyed how although being its own show it followed the timelines and story of both TBBT and YS so those who have watch either still recognise the plot and timeline. Although a few minor details are changed it is very well done and the actors selected definitely fit the personalities and expectations set out in the previous shows.

Overall a good show with little criticism from me!!

Has Potential but You're Blowing It

After watching the first six episodes, I keep hoping this show will grow on me. I really liked the Georgie and Mandy's characters on "Young Sheldon", but the actors now seem to be playing caricatures of those characters - it's like they are silly versions compared to how they were played on "Young Sheldon". I don't know if they're overacting or playing for laughs - but something just isn't working.

And definitely get rid of the canned laughter. It is annoying as he'll.

Nothing against the actor but the character of Mandy's brother is useless and does not contribute to the story lines. Same goes for the shop mechanic.

We love Georgie & Mandy!

My husband and I really enjoy watching Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage! When we first heard about the show, the title "First Marriage" initially threw us off a bit, but we still decided to give it a try. And we're so glad we did! As huge fans of The Big Bang Theory (BBT) and Young Sheldon, we were really looking for something to fill that void, and this show does a great job of capturing that same charm and humor while offering something fresh and new.

One of the biggest draws for me was seeing Mandy back on my screen. I grew up watching her on the Disney Channel, so it's been a nostalgic and enjoyable experience seeing her in a completely different role. She and Georgie have fantastic on-screen chemistry, which makes their dynamic as a young married couple even more compelling. Their interactions feel natural, fun, and filled with genuine emotion, making their journey through marriage and parenthood both heartwarming and entertaining.

The show's humor is another standout. The jokes are cute and funny, often landing perfectly in a way that keeps the show lighthearted yet engaging. At the same time, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage does a great job of tackling real-life issues, from the struggles of young marriage to the responsibilities of parenthood, all while maintaining an uplifting tone. It never feels too heavy or overwhelming, which is something we really appreciate. Life has enough stress, so it's nice to unwind with a sitcom that makes you laugh while still feeling relatable.

One of the highlights of the show is watching Georgie navigate marriage and fatherhood. His character has grown so much since Young Sheldon, and it's rewarding to see how he's adapting to his new roles. He's still the same lovable, slightly clueless Georgie, but now he's taking on real responsibilities, and it's great to watch his character mature while still keeping his signature charm. The way the show portrays his learning experiences-whether it's dealing with financial struggles, balancing work and family, or just figuring out how to be a good husband and dad-feels authentic and true to life.

Another major plus for us is that Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage feels like a breath of fresh air in today's television landscape. It's a family sitcom that focuses on humor and heart without pushing an agenda, which is something we really appreciate. It's just good, wholesome entertainment, and that's increasingly rare these days. There's something refreshing about watching a show that simply tells a story about love, family, and everyday life without forcing any unnecessary messages.

Overall, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage has become a weekly favorite in our household. It's charming, funny, and filled with lovable characters who feel like real people. The chemistry between the leads, the relatable storylines, and the lighthearted yet meaningful humor make it a must-watch. If you're a fan of BBT or Young Sheldon, or if you just love a good, wholesome sitcom, this show is definitely worth checking out.

Two tweaks and it'll be great!

Turn off the canned laughter! Stop the tango music! Neither of those fit the character of this show whatsoever. It's a really good story and doesn't need these stupid gimmicks to be a hit. In fact, they might actually keep it from being successful. Very smart to involve the characters of Mary Cooper, Missy Cooper, and Mee Maw for continuity. And i like that Georgie and Missy go to the cemetery to talk to their father. However, the oddball son of the McAllister's family can't quite hold a candle to Sheldon, so why try to cast him in the same light. If he's not eliminated, he should be cast in a different way or at a age.

Only make sense if you watched Young Sheldon

Super entertaining series only if you watched Young Sheldon series because it is connected to it like it is another season so if you did not see Young Sheldon I do not recommend watching Georgie & Mandy, so otherwise it is funny and so humorous I would say congrats to the producers for getting this many series from the original even tho I didn't watch Big bang series but I enjoyed watching Young Sheldon series and got sad when it ended although my hopes are up now with Georgie and Mandy only downside is the episode is very short like 18 min like come on i wish they made it a little longer anyway it is worth the watch.

Really looked forward to this show

Young Sheldon was one of my favorite, if not my favorite show. So I looked forward to this as a continuation of that series, not a complete refresh.

While I liked the first episode and will continue to watch it, the one thing I found really annoying and distracting was the laugh track. The first time it occurred, within the first 15 seconds or so of the episode, I looked over at my wife and said "it's like they're trying way too hard to be funny." That's when it hit me that they were using a laugh track.

To me, the writing for this show seems to be designed to be much more of a comedy than Young Sheldon was, but most of moments when the laugh track chided in weren't really that funny. The first occurrence was just a one-liner from Georgie, and as the episode wore on, it got even more annoying, laughing at every verbal exchange.

The beauty of Young Sheldon was its being funny without trying - especially Sheldon and his naivete and lack of self awareness. All the characters played a role in adding to that, especially Georgie who has his own naivete.

I gave it a rating of 7/10 and hope the show will last since I've looked forward to it for a long time, but I'm skeptical that the laugh track will kill it if it continues.

Get rid of the laugh track or viewers will leave.

ATTN: PRODUCERS AND NETWORK.... This is a good show about a 7 rating, and reduced to a 2 with laugh track included. The laugh track was annoying, and redundant. Reduces it to a 1960's sitcom, and not modern. Get rid of the laugh track to keep viewers. The actors tried to sell the laugh track in the actual show- Georgie reacting to a TV show, says, "how do you know when to laugh without it?" Let's hope the laugh track was only for one episode. If the laugh track is still there on the next episodes, I literally will not be able to stand watching. I came on here to give a review because the laugh track ruined the show. The characters smile and laugh enough to know what is funny! All the comments are complaining about this too. We want to save the show! Fix it for viewership numbers.

Emily and Montana

I have been manifesting this show since the first time Mandy's character was introduced in Young Sheldon (2022) episode, where she is having trouble with the machine at laundromat where Georgie asks her out. Even in that very first scene, I felt the magic they both had created with their chemistry and acting. They both are so good actors. When both of them are in a scene they just light up the scene. Emily is such a good actoress, I love her. Montana is as good of an actor as her. Love him too. Actually love them both. Love them together in a scene, whether it be a romantic scene or a scene where they are fighting. Just love their chemistry. Love to see their pairing.

Only thing I disliked, was the concept of Mandy's parents being around, It's been only one episode and I can't stand Mandy's Mother, I don't like Mandy's mother, instead of being funny, she is annoying.

Get rid of the brother

Ok this show so far is best described as "not bad" but they really need to get rid of the weird brother Connor, He adds absolutely nothing to the show and actually makes the scenes he's in worse by being a distraction. What is his purpose in the show? Is he supposed to be the odd man out like Sheldon? Because it isn't working.

But besides him the show so far is a little uneven. Mostly it's Georgie suddenly getting a streak of maturity out of nowhere then going right back to dumb as a fence post.

Will Sasso is always a class act in any role he plays and this one is no different. The dynamic between him Georgie and Mandy works well.

Ditch the Laugh Track

I agree with all of these reviews. I loved Young Sheldon. One main reason is that there was no annoying laughter after every sentence! The viewer was allowed to decide what was funny and therefore felt like he/she was eavesdropping on real situations rather than a stage show. I think it was a very bad decision to change that format here! Why on earth they would mess with a good thing is beyond me. I do hope that the original characters from Young Sheldon will show up often, even George Sr. In occasional flashbacks. I could also do with a lot less of Mandy's mother and her cruel stuck up attitude.
