Could Georgie (Montana Jordan) be headed down a dark path in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Season 2? A new set image shared by showrunner Steve Molaro seems to hint so. In the photo shared on Instagram, Jordan is seen posing with his fists clenched, with a black eye, hinting at a possible violent storyline for the character. Georgie is a lot of things, but violent is not one of them, so it'll be interesting to see what pushes him to this point. Could it be an ungrateful customer in his new business, or could it be a certain ex who is now working with his wife? "Is it real? Makeup?...

Even though "The Big Bang Theory" came to an end in 2018 when Jim Parsons unexpectedly stepped away from the show after 12 seasons, we still live under its shadow as one of the most-watched TV shows to this day, and three spin-offs that keep its legacy alive.
First, "Young Sheldon," which gave star Jim Parsons the opportunity to dig deeper into his immortal character as a young genius. After that came "Georgie And Mandy's First Marriage," which put Sheldon to bed so it could explore what his more average family members are up to when he's not around. And now flying at us faster than the speed of light is "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe," a HBO Max comedy about that gives comic shop nerds Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) and Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie) the "Rosencrans and Gildernstern Are Dead" treatment as they try, and presumably fail, to save...

As its siblings over at HBO/HBO Max celebrate a massive Emmy nomination haul, a good chunk of their shows come from Warner Bros. TV Group — and both studio and platform were toasting their joint drama series nod for “The Pitt” and limited series nod for “The Penguin.” All told, Warner Bros. TV Group scored 60 nominations for the 77th Emmys — which it says is the most of any traditional studio this year. Leading the pack: 24 noms for “The Penguin,” 13 for “The Pitt,” seven for Apple TV+’s “Shrinking,” six for ABC’s “Abbott Elementary”, five for NBC’s “The Voice,” four for Apple TV+’s “Presumed Innocent” and one for CBS’ “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.”
Variety recently spoke with Channing Dungey, the chairman/CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group and (for now) Wbd US Networks, to talk about the studio’s Emmy haul, what’s next for “The Pitt,” “Presumed Innocent” and (possibly) “The Penguin,...

The first season of the Young Sheldon spin-off, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, was a success for CBS in more ways than one. Chuck Lorre’s newest sitcom introduces standup comedian Leanne Morgan as a middle-aged, church-going Tennessee woman whose life is turned upside down when her husband of 33 years leaves her. Leanne is a protagonist not often seen on TV, finally satisfying the hunger that Morgan has seen from women her age while on tour.
“I knew that I was in a lane by myself, and that my demographic had been ignored, and Hollywood has ignored them … I see all the time, when I’m on stage, how hungry they are for something that depicts their life and something authentic,” Morgan told TheWrap, thanking Lorre on behalf of women and their husbands in the middle of the U.S. for crafting one of the only shows centered on on the group.

Back in 2022, a new CBS sitcom was announced that would see Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. playing a father-son duo. At the time, Deadline described "Poppa's House" as "a dream on-screen sitcom pairing [that's been] two decades in the making," and while that may have been a bit of an exaggeration, it was at least exciting to hear that Wayans Sr. was returning to network comedy following his successful ABC series "My Wife and Kids." That early 2000s sitcom ran for five seasons and became a beloved part of many a millennial's childhood. As such, Damon Wayans returning to multi-camera comedy seemed like it could be a success — especially if that comedy also starred his real-life son, with whom he had an undeniable comedic chemistry as evidenced by their previous collaborations.
"My Wife and Kids" also featured Wayans Jr. in a recurring role, before the actor went on to star in...

Before she took on the role of Mandy in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Emily Osment was known for playing Miley Cyrus’ on-screen Bff in the Disney hit Hannah Montana. However, the reality was far from what appeared on screen. Though playing best friends on TV, both Osment and Cyrus had a hard time getting along, especially after the show blew up to be such a huge hit.
Osment reflected on the same on the Chicks in the Office podcast, sharing that the success of the series appeared to have changed her relationship with Cyrus. “I mean, Miley used to come with me to my school dances and, like, nobody knew who she was and then immediately everything changed,” she shared. “And that was very strange.”

CBS is shaking up its fall schedule as the network pushes upcoming “FBI” spinoff series “CIA” to a midseason debut.
“CIA,” which stars Tom Ellis and was slated for a fall premire, will debut midseason, with sophomore series “Watson,” which was slotted for a midseason premiere, filling the fall time slot, the network revealed Friday.
The decision to push “CIA” to midseason was made to give the new show, part of the “FBI” franchise, additional time to ensure its success, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. As part of that process, Warren Leight (“Law & Order: Svu”) has replaced David Hudgins as its showrunner.
The writers’ room for “CIA” is currently up and running and casting for additional roles beyond Ellis will begin shortly, with production slated to begin in the fall.

Annie Potts has joined the cast of “Best Medicine,” Fox’s upcoming U.S. adaptation of the hit U.K. medical dramedy “Doc Martin.”
The series stars Josh Charles as Martin Best, a brilliant surgeon whose gruff, lone-wolf attitude sticks out when he moves from Boston to a quaint fishing town in Maine. Underneath his harsh exterior he masks debilitating psychological issues that prevent him from connecting with others, but that stands to change as he gets dragged into the chaotic social sphere of the locals.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage is likely bringing back the series' only true antagonist in its upcoming second season.
Speaking to TV Line, series co-creator and showrunner Steve Holland confirmed that it would "be lovely to have [Matt Letscher] back" for the hotly-anticipated second season of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. "It would be nice to have an antagonist [for Georgie and Ruben to] butt up against, and Matt’s so great [as Fred Fagenbacher]," Holland said. "He's the antagonist in our show, and he always plays it with a bit of a smile on his face, and a little of that Southern, bless-your-heart, knife-in-your-back kind of charm, which I think is great."

Sitcom sets can be iconic and highly recognizable. In fact, the main apartment sets on "Friends" and "Frasier" or the "Cheers" set that's based on a real Boston bar (which caused some big problems) can easily become so familiar that devoted fans will absolutely notice if something major is amiss with them. Because of this, "Young Sheldon" aficionados who have moved on to scratch their "The Big Bang Theory"-verse itch with "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage" might have caught that something was off in season 1, episode 12, "Typhoid Georgie."
The episode features the shocking return of George Cooper Sr. (Lance Barber), whose death was a major event in Sheldon Cooper's (Jim Parsons) life on "The Big Bang Theory." This tragic incident (which "Young Sheldon" and "The Big Bang Theory" co-creator Chuck Lorre actually regrets) is fully depicted in "Young Sheldon," where George Sr. dies in season 7, episode 12, "A New...

Very few things trouble Jim McAllister (Will Sasso) in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. The first is his son, who appears to have no direction in life, and the second is business. The latter kept him in constant competition with a nemesis from their youth, and that rivalry persists to this day. The power of this feud is increased by his rival, Fred Fagenbacher (Matt Letscher)'s unrivaled ability to punch where it hurts the most. Fred was looking to buy McAllister Auto and Tire Shop at the end of the first season, but Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Ruben (Jessie Prez) swooped in and bought it, leaving the fate of Fred's future on the show uncertain. “Like Chris [Gorham], it’d be lovely to have him back,” showrunner Steve Holland told TV Line when they asked if Fred would return for Season 2. Holland revealed that he was a fan of the character...

"The Big Bang Theory" is one of the most successful network sitcoms in the history of television, and, given that we're only six years removed from the end of its 12-season run, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the spin-off series are still coming. Though "Young Sheldon" concluded its run last year, the direct sequel, "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage," leapt right into the void to keep fans of the show engaged. Since all of these series have, thus far, been Nielsen ratings juggernauts, it makes sense that creator Chuck Lorre has decided to throw another spin-off into the mix. After all, if "All in the Family" could have multiple spin-offs running at the same time in the 1970s, why not see if fans will make time for one other show that takes place in this immensely popular universe?
The next series up should be "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,...

The "Young Sheldon" sequel spin-off and "Big Bang Theory" prequel, "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage," begins almost immediately in the aftermath of a massive, tragic loss. Cooper family patriarch, George Sr. (Lance Barber) passed away suddenly from a heart attack, leaving the family bereft. Sheldon (Iain Armitage) has left for college and Georgie (Montana Jordan) has started his life with his wife Mandy (Emily Osment) and their infant daughter, CeeCee, leaving the family split while still reeling. In the series' first season, however, there was one chance for Barber to reprise his role as George Sr., because the character appears to Georgie in a dream, helping to guide him forward in his life.
As wonderful as the elder George is, Jordan has shared that it was extremely unlikely we would ever see Barber return in the role on the series, because narratively, they had simply moved past that point. George Sr.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Season 2 finds Mandy (Emily Osment) moving up in the world. Everything about her current life is about to change as she becomes Channel 7's weather girl on a more permanent basis. As it happens when people change jobs, they lose touch with coworkers who had become friends. For Mandy, it's her fellow waitress at the diner, Beth (Casey Wilson). “Building out that [Channel 7] world is going to be important,” showrunner Steve Holland told TV Line when asked if Mandy will now make other friends after leaving the diner. However, the show won't discard Mandy's former life because she and Beth are genuine friends. Holland explained:
“Just because she’s not at the diner doesn’t mean that Casey’s character won’t still be a part of Mandy’s world. We love her. She’s a terrific actress and it’s nice for Mandy to have a friend.

As the 2024-25 TV season winds down, it’s not surprising that Netflix series dominated multiplatform ratings given the streamer’s reach. Still, a number of broadcast hits — from CBS’ “Tracker” and “Matlock” to ABC’s “High Potential” — broke up its domination of the list of most-watched shows.
Netflix accounted for 10 of the top 15 series across broadcast, cable and streaming, with “Squid Game” and “Adolescence” leading the pack with 27.1 million and 19 million viewers, respectively, according to live-plus-35-day viewing figures through April 6.
Broadcasters, however, took over from there, as CBS’ “Tracker” followed in third place with 17.4 million crossplatform viewers, while ABC’s “High Potential” and CBS’ “Matlock” took the No. 5 and 6 spots on the list with 16.1 million viewers and 16 million viewers, respectively.

It’s become a bit of a cliché to say “broadcast’s back,” since, of course, it never really left. Just ask the fans of “NCIS,” “Law & Order: Svu” or “Grey’s Anatomy,” shows that have been on the air for decades — and launched when Netflix was only known for mailing DVDs to your house.
But there’s also some truth to this year’s network TV rebirth. This was a strong season for the traditional linear outlets — two of the most-watched new shows, period, were ABC’s “High Potential” and CBS’ “Matlock.” And the third-most-watched program overall was the Eye’s “Tracker,” beaten only by Netflix phenomena “Squid Game” and “Adolescence.”
We know all of this because Nielsen’s multiplatform ratings are finally here, and for the first time since the dawn of the streaming revolution, we can see apples-to-apples comparisons of how shows across the TV landscape are doing.

It's safe to say that when Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady created "The Big Bang Theory," they did not foresee the series becoming a 12-season juggernaut of a sitcom that, 18 years after its premiere, is still chugging on its second spinoff — one that features characters who were rarely, if ever, seen in the original series.
Even though "The Big Bang Theory" was a top-10 Nielsen-rated show from season 5 onward, Lorre and his writers waited until close to the end of its run to introduce the show's fans to "Young Sheldon." Though the show borrowed heavily from the nostalgia-infused "The Wonder Years" to strike the right wistful tone, fans of Jim Parsons' Sheldon Cooper found themselves profoundly moved by the funny-melancholy tale of his childhood. They were also surprised to discover that Sheldon's father, George Sr., the man he'd referred to as a drunken philanderer on "The Big Bang Theory,...

A few years after The Big Bang Theory wrapped up its wildly successful 12-season run and not long after Young Sheldon said goodbye after seven heartfelt seasons, Chuck Lorre decided it was time to dip back into the universe he helped build. Enter Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage — a brand-new spinoff that follows Montana Jordan’s Georgie Cooper and Emily Osment’s Mandy McAllister as they step into early parenthood and married life in 1994.
Premiering on October 17, 2024, the show may seem like it’s flying under the radar for now, but those who’ve tuned in are starting to see its charm. Built as a sequel to Young Sheldon, this series carries the same characters forward while reshaping the vibe into something a little more traditional — and surprisingly heartwarming.

Prequels are tricky narrative propositions. In many cases, they're cynically conceived to wring out whatever juice still remains in a film or television franchise. They're often unsatisfying in a storytelling sense, leaving viewers ticking off the minutes or episodes until they arrive at the starting point of the thing they loved in the first place.
And yet there are exceptions. Tony Gilroy just completed a "Star Wars" prequel masterclass with the second season of "Andor," which leads into the emotionally devastating "Rogue One." Meanwhile, Vince Gilligan arguably topped the towering achievement of "Breaking Bad" with the crushingly tragic Slippin' Jimmy spinoff "Better Call Saul." Prequels are not automatically artistic dead ends. Many fans of "The Big Bang Theory" have discovered this over the last eight years with the surprisingly poignant "Young Sheldon" and its follow-up "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage."

Killing off George Cooper Sr. (Lance Barber) in "The Big Bang Theory" is one of creator Chuck Lorre's biggest regrets. The sitcom reveals that he died when Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) was a teenager -- an idea that came to Lorre and the gang before they even thought about making a prequel series centered around the socially awkward physicist's upbringing. However, "Young Sheldon" eventually became a thing, and everyone went into it knowing that George's death was more inevitable than Thanos. But while his controversial cheating storyline was retconned, there was no going back in regard to George's fateful outcome, and viewers bore witness to a plot thread they dreaded from the show's inception.
Of course, George's journey on "Young Sheldon" isn't entirely depressing. The sitcom keeps the beer-drinking football coach alive for seven seasons, allowing him to become a fleshed-out character who is more caring and lovable than...

After the Big Bang Theory prequel series Young Sheldon came to an end, the story of Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) has continued in the sequel series Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. The first season has just been wrapped up, and there's more to come, as it was previously renewed for Season 2.
After the Season 1 finale, which hinted that there may be some complications coming up for Georgie and Mandy's bond, the series was discussed by executive producer Steve Holland in an interview with TVLine. Holland was asked about the title and how the team feels about it after the first season played out. While he admitted that the plans for future seasons are not set in stone, the idea of the show has always been to explore the "troubles" that the couple's marriage will inevitably have. That left no regrets about picking the show's title.

The Season 1 finale of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage has finally aired, and it introduces a new character, Scott, played by Christopher Gorham. With Season 2 already greenlit, there are concerns about whether a different actor will play this character given Gorham's commitments on another major CBS show. However, showrunner Steve Hollandreveals that it shouldn't be an issue and that it's possible to make things work.
Holland said in a recent interview with TVLine that despite Gorham's latest role in the CBS series Sheriff Country, it is still possible for him to play his Georgie & Mandy character. Holland reveals that the Georgie & Mandy team have no intention of recasting, nor do they want to, and since the same network produces both shows, it is possible to work something out with the Sheriff Country team. However, due to the other show being set out in the country, it might pose a challenge.

According to Deadline.com, CBS did renew Georgie And Mandy's First Marriage for a brand new season 2. The renewal announcement came pretty early too. They renewed it back in February 2025. Currently, it's not yet known how many episodes the new season 2 will receive or when it will premiere, but we're guessing it'll get another 22-episode order and start up in the Fall of 2025. We're being told that Georgie And Mandy's First Marriage is CBS' highest-rated comedy series. So, it's no wonder that CBS decided to renew it early. During the season 2 renewal, CBS also renewed a lot of their other shows. Amy Reisenbach who is the president of CBS Entertainment had some wonderful things to say about all the shows they renewed stating, "This season, our new and returning series continue to showcase CBS as the leader in launching and programming the biggest hits with mass appeal for broadcast and streaming viewers.

Despite closing out the 2024-25 TV season as the most-watched broadcast network, CBS had to make some tough calls in canceling popular series like “The Equalizer,” “S.W.A.T.” and two “FBI” spinoffs from the 2025-26 lineup — cancellations that might have upset fans, but which seem self-explanatory breaking down where they ranked in this season’s ratings.
