What Do Artists Do All Day?

1 review
9/10

If you enjoy art it can be worth the watch

I looked at this out of curiosity and saw there was not one review, which frankly was an utter shame. So after watching like 14 episodes I decided to write one.

Let me start off by saying the episodes are definitely like art itself. Not every episode is for every person. Having said that, if you are interested in art, there are some episodes here you will definitely find interesting, it is simply finding the right one for you. They cover art in many different aspects. From Painting to sculpture to dance, etc.... This leaves a wide interpretation of art and different aspects of it. The episodes are small pictures into the artists works, views and days. You get a feel for how they come up with their work, how much they put into their work, and the meaning of their work. Needless to say, depending on how you feel about their work and medium will lead to what you think of the episode. You can leave with either a notion that the artist is a quack or that they truly are making some sort of point. The show really leaves it to the artists to sell their work and views to you, they don't do it themselves. They simply are there to listen and view. I would recommend looking at their profiles or on the bbc to get an idea for what you are getting into. The episodes are very well shot, they are spaced out well with a mix of day life, thoughts, and work. You are not simply flooded with theory but get a more rounded aspect of the artist. From understanding their up bringing to their personal lives and how they have effected them. You get a sense of the business of art and how that is related to the production of art. You may find that an artists day isn't exactly what you may think. This show is worth the watch. I enjoyed probably 1/2 the episodes which is more than I can say for most shows. What I do like about every episode is that you are left to contemplate what the artists have stated. It tires to prove no points, but simply leave you with a different way of looking at works.
