In principle not such a bad idea for a plot which wants to address modern genetic methods. However, many things are completely unrealistic: this guy being an omnipotent Hacker, murderer using a synthetic virus with the police being able to identify this virus including its manipulation within a day or so. Two sister having Chorea Huntington but still wanting to be mothers even though they will not live more longer than 10 years. And then the suggestion that gene manipulation by Crispr Cas9 was required to have a healthy child. But simple preimplantation diagnostics would be sufficient to select a healthy embryo completely without gene repair. So, these inconsistencies are really unsatisfying for a movie that wants to address scientific topics.
