Blumhouse CAN be good or decent, but this is yet another one that makes me feel like they put meticulous research into finding out what are the most critically panned and disliked ingredients of their catalogue & then make new films out of them.
Sure, it's a competent enough film with one or two potentially compelling albeit overused themes, but it's also tiring, uninspired, tedious, flat, predictable, lukewarm & ultimately pointless and empty feeling.
It's rare for a movie that's under 90 minutes long to feel this very stretched out, and it's a damn shame that such weak scripts get greenlit with casts & crews that are too good for it.
The worst Jaume Collet-Serra flick, can only compete with "Black Adam" maybe.

3 out of 5 stars.
The Woman in the Yard is a fair psychological horror film that has a creepy concept but as the story goes on it loses its steam.
Pros:
The plot is okay. About a family going through grief and living at a farm house. Until a creepy lady all in black sits out in the yard. And gets closer and closer with creepy messages.
It has a great cast ensemble and great performances.
The direction can be creepy as the lady gets closer and going after the family by the shadows.
Cons:
The film does lack scared, jump scares, or any thrills. I feel like the direction missed out on that opportunity.
As the plot starts unraveling during the climax, the real horror loses itself. Also making it difficult to even care for the film without going into spoiler territory. The climax and ending was a little disappointing.
Overall, it is an okay film that starts out great but falls apart too quickly as it gets to the end.

This movie was trash! I really wanted to walk out the theater. I'm done with Blumhouse ... This crap was the last straw!
Blumhouse Productions has become a powerhouse in modern horror, churning out low-budget films that consistently turn a profit. However, while their financial model is impressive, the studio's approach to horror often lacks depth, originality, and genuine terror. Rather than crafting stories with meaningful narratives or psychological complexity, Blumhouse frequently resorts to predictable jump scares, recycled tropes, and shallow characters designed to appeal to the broadest possible audience.

This movie was so bad that I feel compelled to write this review to save you time and money. From the start, it's clear that the plot is weak and lacks originality. The characters are poorly developed, making it impossible to connect with or care about their journeys. The pacing drags on, and the dialogue feels forced and unnatural. As the movie progresses, it becomes clear that the writers either lost interest or ran out of ideas. The climax, which should have been the most exciting part, falls flat and feels rushed. The ending is especially disappointing, leaving too many loose ends and giving the impression that the filmmakers either ran out of time, money, or both. I kept hoping that something would redeem the experience, but it never happened. Even the cinematography and special effects, which could have been a saving grace, were mediocre at best. Overall, I cannot in good conscience recommend this movie. Save yourself the disappointment and avoid it entirely.
I had pretty high expectations for this movie, especially since it was developed by Blumhouse Productions. The trailer made it look promising, with a strong setting and setup, so I was eager to see it.
While there were some good moments, the movie overall felt slow. The story was lacking, with most of the film taking place on a single property. The only real change in setting came from a brief flashback. There was very little blood-far less than I expected from a horror film-so if you're squeamish, it's not overwhelming. However, for those hoping for a more intense experience, it might feel underwhelming.
There was no nudity, sexual content, or real violence, aside from a single gun appearing throughout the film. Surprisingly, it wasn't scary at all. I kept hoping for a moment that would really hit, but the movie just meandered and felt unfocused. While there were a few semi-creepy scenes, nothing truly frightening stood out. The execution felt a bit cheesy, and despite being a Blumhouse film, it seemed like a low-budget production.
Overall, this is just my opinion, but I'd recommend waiting until it's out of theaters to watch it at a lower cost. But hey, if you're curious, check it out and decide for yourself!
These are the reasons I rated it 3 stars.

I can't say I was impressed by The Woman In The Yard. It starts promising, a bit intriguing and mysterious but then it just went downhill. Weak writing was the major cause for a failed horror movie. The acting from the very small cast was okay though, nothing bad to write about them, but the plot just didn't help to save this movie. I'm not going to go into details as I don't want to spoil the story for future viewers but there were just things that didn't make any sense at all and that's why this wasn't a good movie. A bit boring as well at one point. I wouldn't waste my time with this one if I were you.

Director Jaume Collet-Serra, ventures into the realm of psychological horror with The Women in the Yard, and the result is a thought-provoking experience. Anchored by a powerful performance from Danielle Deadwyler, the film burrows under the skin, exploring the insidious nature of grief, guilt, and the darkest corners of the human psyche.
Deadwyler portrays Ramona with a raw intensity. She is a woman fractured by loss and the weight of a terrible secret. Her physical disability, a constant reminder of the fatal car accident, mirrors her emotional paralysis. The arrival of the enigmatic Woman, played with an unsettling stillness by Okwui Okpokwasili, throws Ramona's already fragile world into chilling disarray. Okpokwasili's presence is a masterclass in understated horror; her veiled face and pronouncements of "Today's the day" create an atmosphere of relentless dread.
Collet-Serra expertly crafts a sense of claustrophobia within the confines of the isolated farmhouse. The cinematography, often bathed in stark daylight that somehow feels more menacing than darkness, amplifies the feeling of being exposed and vulnerable. The unsettling sound design further contributes to the creeping unease, making the ordinary seem sinister.
However, The Women in the Yard transcends mere jump scares, delving into profound and disturbing themes. The film cleverly uses the supernatural to externalize Ramona's internal torment. Saying anything further at this point, drifts us into spoiler territory.
The revelation of the Woman's true nature is a chilling twist that reframes the entire film. It forces the audience to reconsider every interaction and realize the battle Ramona is fighting. The ending, unsettling and leaves a lingering sense of unease.
While some may find the pacing deliberate and the horror more psychological than visceral, The Women in the Yard is a compelling and disturbing. It's a film that stays with you long after the credits roll, prompting reflection on the shadows we carry within ourselves.

If you want to kill some time I would absolutely recommend seeing this movie because what a time waster it is. The Woman in the Yard is an acceptable movie at best with a mysterious tone and such. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's just a suspenseful drama movie. With the name and poster, I was expecting to be scared but by the end of it I was just confused. When you first see it, it looks quite promising but after 10 minutes or so you start to realize that the only reason you're watching the film is because it had a fancy hook and blumhouse backing it up. At least a dozen people in the theatre I was at left not even a quarter into the film with one exclaiming out loud that they got scammed. I can see why they would think that, however, it is kind of mysterious and it seems scary for the most part. Yet it felt pretty lacklustre overall and some parts just felt too predictable. If I had to compare the movie to anything I'd say it's most similar to something like "The Front Room." Unless you were a fan of that film, I'd recommend staying in or looking for a different movie.

This movie really got to me - super intense and stressful. At first, I didn't understand anything, but slowly it all starts making sense, and you get pulled into it. It's not just some random woman appearing out of nowhere - there's actually something deeper, and that's what makes it interesting. I was a bit disappointed that they revealed the woman's face too early - I feel like it should've been saved for the end. But still, that's their choice. The tension, the silence, the way it messes with your head - it all works. It stays with you. Overall, it's a really good film. Definitely worth watching!
Cannot get much more cliché than this. At this point, it seems like Blumhouse just regurgitates everything that he's already done multiple times and only tries to appeal to different demographics as if they're something new. They always end up being straight up hollow releases that don't offer anything but the occasional jump scare if even that . If we were to start speaking with our wallets and not even bothering with these then maybe they can stop the overabundance of them and we can start getting some originality. Unfortunately it seems like they still garner enough of an audience maybe from the younger generation to where they seem unavoidable. It seriously seems like a movie that was made four times in 2015 just repacked and rebranded for a different audience .
I came here just wanting to say this film was excellent, but after seeing other reviews I'm honestly shocked to see so many negative ones. I don't know how so many folks got this movie wrong.
This is a horror film, one that was well written and directed. It's a great take on mental health. It gives plenty goosebumps, chills, and a few jumps. I'd compare this to "Them" minus the racial tension. The only bad mark I have is for the youngest actor. But how many great 6 yr olds have you seen in horror movies? To sum it up, I'll definitely see this again. I wouldn't say that about most horror flicks.
Please ignore the negative reviews and see this for yourself.
