This series did not shy away from dealing with some very dark subject matter...but managed to do it in a non-exploitative manner. The series centers around the production crew for Trigger, essentially an investigative version of Dateline with an activists bent intent on bringing justice to victims that may have been failed by the justice system.
It started a bit slow and was mainly episodic for the first half - dealing with a cult, a young serial killer, corrupt construction practices, child incest and a deadly stalker It did introduce the main thread and progressed it a bit with each episode but it was not until the second half that it kicked things into high gear and focused on the main plot line - the disappearance of a rising celebrity 20 years ago.
The series has some good twists and turns and I felt the writing was quite good overall. The acting and cinematography were great. I enjoyed the series and felt the second half was especially engaging.
If you enjoy mystery thrillers, give it a try. NOTE: even though IMDB has it tagged as a comedy, I would not consider it one.
