However, none have shaped popular perception as significantly as Disney’s 1951 animated film. The colorful, neat, and thoroughly Disney-fied version of Wonderland remains popular, although it differs greatly from Carroll’s original vision.

Sony-owned anime company Crunchyroll has acquired North American and select international theatrical rights for “Solo Leveling – ReAwakening.” The presentation represents a recap of the “Solo Leveling” anime series’ hit first season and a sneak peek of the first two episodes of the second season.

Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will bring “Solo Leveling -ReAwakening” to theaters in the U.S. and Canada on Dec. 6, 2024.

The anime series “Solo Leveling” is adapted from the best-selling Korean web novel written by Chugong, which was later adapted into a film, a webtoon and manhwa in 2018, with illustrations by Dubu. Exclusive: McG (Way of the Warrior Kid) is in final negotiations to direct Shout It Out Loud, a biopic about Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and their superstar rock band Kiss, which will be produced by STX Entertainment, sources tell Deadline.

STX declined to comment, but we hear the studio is in discussions with Lionsgate to distribute the film worldwide and co-finance. The project previously had been set up at Netflix, following a bidding war, with Joachim Rønning attached to direct, as we first reported in 2021.

Via a press release, The Beenos Group's popular e-commerce platform Buyee revealed its statistics on the most purchased goods among its partners for the first half of 2024, spanning categories like J-pop artist releases, mobile game merch, tokusatsu merch and anime merch (aired in 2024). It was revealed that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was #1 in anime merchandise by purchasing volume, followed by Ensemble Stars in second and My Hero Academia in third place. The rest of the top 10 comprised Saint Seiya, Wind Breaker, Kingdom, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Blue Archive The Animation, Delicious in Dungeon and Black Butler. The recurrent theme of the musical franchise regarding redemption and second chances rings true in this new spin-off entry as well, but the usage of the redundant and overused ‘one bad day’ trope feels out of place in the context of narrative. However, Descendants 4 excels in music, choreography, and chemistry among key characters, all the while laying out a number of plot points that can be developed in the future as the makers aim to expand the franchise with a new trilogy.
