An impressive Indonesian adaptation of Thailand's all-time highest-grossing film, 'Pee Mak'

Directed by Herwin Novianto, 'Kang Mak from Pee Mak' stands out as an impressive Indonesian adaptation of Thailand's all-time highest-grossing film, 'Pee Mak,' released in 2013. While I can't recall the original, this remake delivered a delightful mix of humor, thrills, adventure, and romance! Now, I'm eager to track down the original version.

This film masterfully combines comedy, drama, and local cultural elements, showcasing how a well-crafted adaptation can resonate with Indonesian audiences. Central to this remake are Vino G. Bastian (Makmur) and the remarkable Marsha Timothy (Sari), who portray a couple with undeniable chemistry and connection. Their performances add emotional richness and tenderness that is often lacking in Western films.

The humor typical of Indonesia was both refreshing and unique, making me laugh out loud! Although there were some genuinely scary moments, I found this film to be more of a romance-an excellent one at that-highlighting values and a sense of unconditional love that seems to be fading in today's world.

Highly recommended for a good time...

P. S. Don't miss the mid-credits scenes!

Very good

This adaptation movie from the Thailand version is so good. Although not better than the original version, but it can gives me satisfaction and a nice film for an Entertainment. It can gives me mixed emotion happy, laugh, sad, and else. I can really feel the relationship between Makmur and Sari. And the comedy is so so so good, it makes me laugh all the time. But i find the start part of the movie, the war part the jokes is kinda cringe for me. But just that, the rest of the comedy is so good. Maybe it's just expectation that this movie would give me a horror part too. But the reality is no, there's no part of this movie that scares me. But i don't find it bad, it's just my expectation. Nice movie.
