After eight episodes, Apple TV+'s thriller series Prime Target came to an end with its propulsive season finale that answered all of our questions but left us with some new ones to mull over. It remains to be seen if the winding mathematical story of Edward Brooks (Leo Woodall) will continue with a second season or if this will be the series finale for the thriller.
In episode 8, "The Key," the culmination of the season-long mystery begins as Ed and Taylah (Quintessa Swindell) work with the pressures they find themselves under to expose the truth about the prime finder and the Nsa, while also navigating an impending threat that they soon realize isn't as far off and ominous as they once assumed. Nope, it's closer but still dangerous.

In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, Quintessa Swindell reflected on her experience working with actor Leo Woodall on the AppleTV+ series Prime Target, which follows a brilliant mathematician (played by Woodall) who is on the brink of a major discovery when he unexpectedly must deflect the efforts of a mysterious enemy trying to stop him. Reflecting on her time with Woodall, Swindell told uInterview founder Erik Meers, “The thing I remember most is us just being really confused, if I’m being honest. ’Ok, let’s just not worry about it. Where are we today?’ I think both of us went into it not really knowing how, but throughout the entire process, you know, there was so much love and respect between us, of just holding each other down, and it was cool. We made sense of this really crazy, hectic conspiracy-filled world. But it was awesome.” New episodes of...

One of Apple TV+'s latest thriller series came to a twist-heavy end on March 5 as Prime Target released its season finale. After diving into episode 8 and finding out what happens (no spoilers here!), viewers are likely wondering if that was, in fact, a season finale or if it was actually a series finale. Unfortunately, the streamer hasn't clued us in as of this writing.
Following the release of the season finale, Deadline caught up with Prime Target creator Steve Thompson to talk about everything from the plot of the series (which he'd been thinking about for 30 years!) to Edward's eccentric lapel pins to the various reveals that brought the season to an end. Deadline also asked about the possibility of season 2, but Thompson didn't have a promising update.
Here's what Thompson told Deadline about the prospect of a second season, with a couple vague spoiler bits thrown in for...

Prime Target episode 7 was limited to an Axiorn building where Edward was forced to make the Prime Finder under the watchful eye of Andrew. Edward was understandably skeptical about making a key that would open every digital lock in the world, even though Andrew claimed that he wanted Edward to create the Prime Finder so that Axiorn and the Nsa would have the tools to defeat anyone else out there trying to replicate the same technology. When he hit a speed bump, Professor Osborne was brought in to help. Taylah was brought into the fold by Jane because Axiorn needed someone smart enough to turn the mathematical version of Edward’s Prime Finder into a functional program. But Taylah betrayed her godmother and sprung Edward and Osborne out of Axiorn’s sophisticated prison. Sadly, Osborne bit the dust in an attempt to aid Edward and Taylah in getting away from Andrew.

That means all of our favorite small screen favorites will be pulling out all the stops to keep our attention before their season finales and taking some time off for the summer.

The following contains spoilers for Prime Target Season 1, Episode 7, "Prime Finder," now streaming on Apple TV+.
If there is a moral message behind Prime Target, it would be that absolute power corrupts absolutely. After Season 1, Episode 6, “The Last Link,” Edward and Taylah are in the home stretch. With our heroes back on British soil and the power dynamics between Jane Torres and Andrew Carter shifting, audiences are inching closer to the prime finder — a theoretical set of coded equations that could unlock any digital location around the world. With everything to play for and our intrepid duo no longer talking, they must fend for themselves in the penultimate episode of Apple’s most underrated thriller.
Now more than ever, privacy is essential. Our information sits on servers around the world being collected, collated, and kept for a rainy day. Season 1, Episode 7, “Primer Finder,” explores the implications of being digitally compromised.

The 6th episode of Prime Target saw Edward and Taylah reaching Orleans to get the 17th-century imprint of the missing piece of the Bayt al-Hikmah’s puzzle from the state university’s Mersenne Collection. But right when they were about to obtain it, Bogdan seemingly showed up out of nowhere and snatched all the ancient pages from the aforementioned collection and began making his way to England via the Channel Tunnel. Edward and Taylah conducted a heist to retrieve what they needed from Bogdan, and it was during this process that Edward learned that Taylah’s boss at the Nsa, Jane, was working with Axiorn and Kaplar to control the narrative regarding this whole conspiracy around prime numbers. This caused the two to have a bit of a falling-out, and they went their separate ways. Taylah was promptly cornered by one of Jane’s operatives and asked to come in...

The Apple TV+ thriller Prime Target is driven by mathematics. After a gas explosion in Baghdad uncovers an ancient library, researchers soon stumble on the missing piece to a mathematical equation with global consequences. Audiences are able to follow math prodigy Edward Brooks as he ventures further and further down the numerical rabbit hole. But for the show to work, its math has to be spot-on.
Enter Dr. Tim Davis from London's Northeastern University, who was recruited as the show's math consultant. Davis sat down with Cbr to discuss his involvement in Prime Target and how quickly the show's stars picked up the math concepts. The following contains spoilers for Prime Target Season 1, Episode 6, "The Last Link," now streaming on Apple TV+.
Up until now, Prime Target has kept it low-key, more concerned with ancient equations than action or adventure. With Season 1, Episode 6, “The Last Link,“ that is all about to change. Time is ticking, with every agency in hot pursuit as the intrepid duo tries to leave Paris. With an irate Nsa tracking their every move and allies thin on the ground, it is make-or-break time when it comes down to finding that final puzzle piece. Right now, Edward might be an important mathematical asset, but he is also a liability likely to land them both in hot water.
With the revelations from Season 1, Episode 5, still ringing in their ears, The Last Link morphs into a different show. Assassins in hot pursuit, clandestine cyber-crimes done on the fly, and home truths shared in times of crisis.

In the 5th episode of Prime Target, Edward and Taylah went all the way to Baghdad to meet Andrea, because they needed to understand the connection between Kaplar, Mallinder, the House of Wisdom, and the controversial research into prime numbers. Although Andrea refused to work with the youngsters after learning that Taylah was the Nsa agent who was keeping tabs on Mallinder, she changed her mind after Hassan informed her that the “gas explosion” that revealed the location of the Bayt al-Hikmah had been deliberately set off. Now, while Andrea stayed in Baghdad so as to not give Akram and Bogdan reason to suspect that something was afoot, she pointed Edward and Taylah in the direction of the University of Orleans since that’s where the missing piece of the puzzle around prime numbers was housed. Given how dangerous Edward’s research was, the Nsa’s Jane and Andrew tried to have him killed.

Severance Season 2 debuted to rave reviews, earning a nearly perfect score of 98% from critics and a solid 77% from general audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and the show has dominated the TV conversation since its premiere on January 17. Right now, Apple TV+ has some of the best original series in the streaming space, and one of its most recent hits is the thriller series Prime Target. In the series, The White Lotus and One Day breakout Leo Woodall stars as a math genius who finds himself at the center of a dangerous global conspiracy when his research on prime numbers puts a target on his back.
While the show hasn't attained the overwhelming watercooler status of its streamer mate Severance, Prime Target has ranked just below the twisty sci-fi thinker on Apple TV+'s most popular shows leaderboard. It's received mixed reception for its slower pace, but Prime Target has still been one of the more engaging and interesting new series of 2025 so far.
If you're enjoying the series, which nears its season-ending episode in March 2025, you're probably wanting to add more shows just like it to your watch list.

In the 4th episode of Prime Target, Charan was killed right after he learned that there was something off about the explosion at the location where the House of Wisdom was found. When Andrea reached Baghdad and found out about this, she was heartbroken. Andrea’s contact, Akram, suggested she go back home, but Andrea made it clear that she wanted to analyze the hell out of the Bayt al-Hikmah, or else the deaths of Charan and Mallinder would have been in vain. Back in Cambridge, Edward enrolled in the Kaplar Institute with the sole intention of piecing together what they were doing regarding prime numbers and whether or not they had something to do with the deaths of Mallinder and Safiya. With some help from Taylah, Edward discovered that all the CCTV footage of Safiya, Mallinder, and himself that was apparently being monitored only by the Nsa was in Kaplar’s possession.

Four episodes into its freshman season, Prime Target will return with the premiere of episode 5, titled "House of Wisdom," on Feb. 12 on Apple TV+. Ahead of the episode's arrival, Cbr has an exclusive sneak peek to unveil one of its major moments.
In the episode, per the official description, "Ed (Leo Woodall) and Taylah (Quintessa Swindell) join Andrea (Sidse Babett Knudsen) in Baghdad, where they unearth ancient, buried answers—and get caught in the crosshairs of an unknown enemy." In a key strategic move and following some of the smart TV money in these current times, New Regency has partnered with Bravado Equity to drive into Europe, making its first European series acquisition “Beyond” (aka “Oderbruch”), one of the standout recent TV hits in Europe.
New Regency will launch “Beyond” at the London TV Screenings, its market debut taking place for invited guests on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25.

The following contains spoilers for Prime Target Season 1, Episode 4, "Kaplar," now streaming on Apple TV+.
Prime Target Season 1, Episode 4 is called "Kaplar" -- and everything about the Kaplar Institute gives off villainous Bond vibes. The Institute's head Stephen Patrick Nield is surrounded by top-tier security and touchscreen technology, but his intentions are far from honorable. As Edward Brooks gets closer to unraveling the mystery of Safiya Zamil’s research, a complex equation becomes the least of his problems.
Following the death of an academic and Andrea Lavin’s journey to Baghdad, another puzzle piece slots into place, pitting Edward and Taylah Sanders against unknown enemies coming at them in all directions. The mismatched duo are forced to rely on each other more, while the TV show seems poised to expand its world beyond the walls of Cambridge University. In Prime Target Episode 4, series creator and writer Steve Thompson successfully ups the ante.

In the 3rd episode of Prime Target, we learned about Safiya’s relationship with Mallinder and how the latter dissuaded her from pursuing her research on prime numbers. Soon after that, she began getting threatening letters from anonymous people asking her to give up all her work to them. So, in order to ensure that her documents didn’t fall into the wrong hands, she purposefully botched them, then stashed some hidden messages in a book titled Sophie German. The Unsolved Riddle, and then she (allegedly) killed herself. In the present day, Taylah joined hands with Edward to tackle the guys who were after his and Safiya’s research. And they came to the conclusion that one of their only ways to get out of this mess was by taking Nield’s offer to join Kaplar Institute. Charan, on Andrea’s behalf, reached Baghdad and was instantly alerted by the structural engineer,...

After 2024's strong slate of Apple TV+ movies and shows came to an end, the standard was set for 2025 to follow. So far, the January release of a second trip to Lumon Industries in Severance, Leo Woodall's fast-paced thriller Prime Target, and a side-splitting fourth installment of Mythic Quest have already proven that the year has every chance of not just matching its predecessor but outdoing it. With that in mind, here's a look at all the new movies and shows coming to Apple TV+ in February 2025.

There’s never been a better time to be an Apple TV+ subscriber.
I may be an outie, but “Severance” is still one of my favorite shows of the last few years (not sure what my innie thinks?) and I am So pumped it’s back. It took me a while to get to it (my wife and I just watched the first episode of Season 2 last night), but it did not disappoint. It’s a wonderful feeling to be back at work with Mark, Helly, Irving and Dylan – even the imposing Mr. Milchick gave me a smile. Now, Apple TV+ has been gaining ground for some time, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite streamers for high-end TV shows. With that in mind, here’s a list of my picks for the top 7 TV shows to stream on Apple TV+ right now.

This post contains spoilers from Prime Target episode 3 from this point forward.
When Prime Target premiered on Apple TV+ one week after Severance season 2, most of the reviews seemed to simmer around the same thought: It's a passable series with an interesting premise, but it's not the high-octane, edge-of-your-seat thriller we've become accustomed to. Variety referred to it as an "increasingly dull show." (Its proximity to Severance surely doesn't help.)
I never wanted to join the chorus of fans online, but the third episode confirmed the boring allegations. The momentum Prime Target has been operating at is its baseline. In spite of two shocking deaths in its first two episodes, we're not going to get crazy action or drama from this show.
In all honesty, I actually love the low key quality of Prime Target, and I especially love Leo Woodall in the leading role as Edward Brook. He's finally...

The following contains spoilers for Prime Target Season 1, Episode 3, which debuts Jan. 29, 2025 on Apple TV+.
After an impressive season premiere, Prime Target uses the next forty minutes to lay down further foundations. Using flashbacks to introduce the mystery mathematician Safiya Zamil, audiences get a better understanding of how these puzzle pieces fit together. In the present, Edward is being pestered by the Kaplar Institute, a privately funded research center intent on recruiting him. Back in Southern France, with her Nsa partner dead, Taylah is busy staying alive and finding the quickest way to get to Cambridge, England, without being detected by men with machine guns.
If those opening episodes introduced audiences to Edward Brooks, then what follows in "The Sequence" is an equal amount of time with Safiya Zamil. Much of what continues to make Prime Target such a pleasure comes down to the slick storytelling and that solid performance from Leo Woodall.

There isn’t really any show out there exactly like Severance, which is part of what makes it so compelling, but there are shows in the same vein as the science fiction workplace thriller, which tackles several different themes.
For the sci-fi lover, Apple has other series that examine similar themes of authority, separate selves and worlds like Foundation and Silo. For the more math-minded, Prime Target, starring Leo Woodall and Quintessa Swindell has just begun to roll out on the streamer as well.

After its two episode debut, the new Apple TV+ thriller Prime Target is off to the races with a gripping mystery. This week, the eight-episode first season continues with the third episode, which like the shocking plot twists in the first two episodes, looks to completely change the game for Ed (Leo Woodall) as someone new comes into his life. Of course, we already knew who that person is...
The ending of episode 2 found Nsa agent Taylah (Quintessa Swindell) continuing to pursue the curious case of Professor Mallinder's death and the truth about Ed's research. Unfortunately, that ended in a death no one could have seen coming and Taylah's life in danger as a result. To evade the assassin, Taylah dives into the water and swims away. Will she survive?!

The Apple TV+ thriller Prime Target plunges viewers into a world that's equal parts academic and dramatic. Its protagonist is mathematics prodigy Edward Brooks, who finds himself thrust into the kind of global conspiracy that TV audiences love. But the antisocial Edward must rely on government agent Taylah Sanders to help him unravel said conspiracy and stay alive, as she has skills that he doesn't -- including knowing how to deal with the rest of the world.
It sounds like a series that could be very complicated, but stars Leo Woodall (who plays Edward) and Quintessa Swindell (who portrays Taylah) explain how much audiences actually need to know to watch Prime Target. They also talk about how much they knew about the story going into the filming experience. Plus, what would they consider the highlights of the show?

Following the opening sequence, we meet Woodall's Ed Brooks, who's not only handsome and part of the rowing team but also a math genius unenthused by classes and social norms. He's always scribbling numbers in his notepad, and when he's not, he's visiting a former professor with Alzheimer's. Apple TV+’s latest TV series, Prime Target, has premiered with 2 episodes today. The first one opens in Baghdad, where we see a mother and a daughter going to have some ice cream. The mother tells the daughter to wait at the shop while she gets the money from the Atm, and, predictably enough, the shop explodes, leaving quite a few people injured and many dead. The mother is concussed but still alive. Her daughter and the shopkeeper are also alive but stuck behind falling debris. And as the mother tries to get the daughter to safety, the ground gives way and the whole building collapses. That’s when it is revealed that there’s an elaborate structure with multiple rooms and a massive armillary sphere in the middle. The scene then shifts to England, and we are introduced to the protagonist of the show, Edward Brooks, who is a...

With the success of Slow Horses and The Agency, we’ve seen a large influx of espionage shows coming to TV. Prime Target, from producer Ridley Scott and creator Steve Thompson, hopes to capture the same magic as each of those shows. With two young stars, Leo Woodall and Quintessa Swindell, the series could easily become another breakout hit for Apple TV+. Unfortunately, overuse of technical exposition and frustratingly detached characters turn Prime Target into a slog.

Prime Target examines mathematical discovery and worldwide consequences through mathematician Edward Brooks’s work with prime number sequences – research that threatens current digital security systems.
The story connects Brooks to scientists like Oppenheimer, showing how groundbreaking research can lead to devastating outcomes. His mathematical work represents both pure theoretical exploration and a threat to global stability, reflecting contemporary fears about technological vulnerabilities.
The series combines abstract mathematical concepts with international chase sequences. The philosophical elements clash with action scenes, making the tone inconsistent. Though merging higher mathematics with dramatic action shows creative intent, common thriller elements take precedence over nuanced storytelling.
Unlikable Geniuses, Shifting Loyalties, and the Characters That Shape Prime Target
Prime Target shows Edward Brooks as another example of the “tortured genius” stock character in television – lacking the depth that would make him stand out. Ed, a skilled mathematician, works with prime numbers with religious-like focus, believing they...

From espionage to action sequences, these shows bring fresh stories to the genre.
Spy thriller TV shows have had a nice resurgence of late with a new one seeming to appear every month. Well, I’m here for it because – when done right – there’s nothing cooler than dropping into the world of espionage. One of my favorite shows of 2024 was “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” (even if things got a little weird at the end), and now, with the release of Apple TV+’s “Prime Target,” I thought it a great idea to count down the best new (meaning first season only) spy/espionage thrillers from the last year that you can stream right now. Let’s get to it!
