Netflix Thailand is adding a rags-to-riches series exec produced by the team behind How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies and a feel-good movie about snow sculpting to a nine-strong originals slate for 2025.
The streamer has unveiled one new series, one returner and six movies. As revealed last week, it is also putting a February 27 launch date on its upcoming series Dalah: Death and the Flowers.
The slate comes at a delicate time for Netflix Thailand, which this week saw originals chief Yongyoot Thongkongtoon exit for “personal reasons,” according to trade title Content Asia.
On the series front comes Mad Unicorn and the returning faith and finance drama The Believers. Mad Unicorn is from Thai studio Gdh 559 and is notable as the series directorial debut of Nottapon Boonprakob, a writer for One for the Road. Jira Maligool and Vanridee Pongsittisak, who were behind the megahit film How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies,...

The German Netflix series Dark set a precedent for sci-fi thrillers of the modern age. The series took the world by storm, dripping with a convoluted narrative that would make people look twice. Time traveling isn't groundbreaking anymore, but the way Dark twisted the unspoken laws of time paradox and different timelines is simply mind-boggling. Although no show comes close to the fascination induced by the series, a new limited series on Netflix tends to say otherwise.
This refreshing mystery thriller from Thailand will make viewers feel the nostalgia and the grip stories like Dark have on mystery lovers.

Have you ever come across a show that starts out like your standard haunted house story only to pull the rug out from under you with an ingenious twist? That’s exactly what happens with Don’t Come Home, a new suspenseful series from Thailand now streaming on Netflix. Though it begins by seemingly treading familiar horror grounds, rest assured this one has far more intriguing depths to plumb.
The six-episode miniseries follows a mother, Varee, who flees to her remote childhood home with her young daughter in tow, hoping to find shelter from dangers in their past. But strange occurrences soon begin plaguing the run-down old mansion, and before long the girl vanishes without a trace.
While the first episode leaves us with haunting images and a pervasive sense of unease, it’s only the beginning. As Varee joins with a tough detective to search for answers, their investigation penetrates...

If you ignore all the time-travel plot holes in Don’t Come Home, then at the end of the day, it is a pretty simple and straightforward series. But I guess a lot of confusion arises in the viewer’s mind, simply because the writers didn’t bother to explain the gaps in the story, especially the matter of how Min came into existence. I was kind of shocked to see so many people still confused about the “time travel” aspect of it even after reading our ending explained article, and since the replies aren’t the best place to discuss things in detail, I decided to lay it all out in layman’s terms. Hope this one helps.
Spoiler Alert
Panida Didn’t Create A Time Machine
So, first things first, Panida Jarukanant, Varee’s real mother, didn’t create a time machine. It would be blasphemous to call that glass chamber a time machine.

Repressed trauma and guilt have an inexplicable way of finding their victims, and no matter how desperate the effort to break the pattern is, escaping the inevitable is impossible. Netflix’s latest Thai horror, Don’t Come Home, which deftly disguises an intricate, somewhat confusing sci-fi plot to shape up a tragic story that involves themes of motherhood, loss, horrors of patriarchy, and second chances, presents this pattern in an interesting way. While the six-episode miniseries doesn’t aim for a big twist or surprise in the end, as the key reveal takes place midway through the series, its novelty lies in the poignant handling of dysfunctional family dynamics through the plot device of time travel.

Netflix’s Thai horror series, Don’t Come Home, uses the plot device of time travel to present a nuanced, moving account of motherhood through three leading female characters and their struggle to bear with the responsibilities towards their children in a society that is essentially a vessel for patriarchy. A particular sci-fi twist in the series contributes to a complex identity crisis, which accentuates the maternal woes even further, which is well reflected by the compelling acting by the lead trio. While their performances anchor the emotional foundation of the story, the supporting characters do an exceptional job creating the mystery-thriller vibe the series aimed to convey.

Don’t Come Home or Ya Klap Ban, is a 2024 Thai horror thriller series streaming on Netflix that begins with a rather usual horror show premise. A woman named Varee moves into her childhood home in the middle of a rubber plantation with her young daughter, Min, but things start to go awfully wrong when Min starts claiming that she can see a terrifying ghost at the place. But where the series goes from there is truly commendable, switching genres to a science fiction mystery halfway through. Despite the big aspirations, Don’t Come Home is actually executed quite well, making it a fun and entertaining watch.

I went into Don’t Come Home completely blind, and listening to the intro music, or even just watching it, I should’ve realized that it’s a show about time travel. But, having not realized that immediately, I found myself pleasantly surprised by the show, which initially looked like your run-of-the-mill Thai horror with ghosts and a kid who’s great at looking terrified. At the heart of Don’t Come Home lies an important message, and the show doesn’t waste any time in delivering that message in a clear and precise manner. The 6-episode series has some scary bits if that’s what you’re looking for, but it’s mostly a drama about parenting and domestic violence. Netflix’s Thai series begins with Varee, a young woman, driving off to a house in the middle of nowhere with her 5-year-old daughter Min. Gives off typically haunted house vibes,...

Don’t Come Home is a Thai Netflix original about a woman and her daughter escaping an abusive man. It centers around Varee, a woman in an abusive marriage who has to escapes her husband in a hurry. She takes her daughter and runs away to an old house that belonged to her mom, but little does she know that going back there is going to ruin her life forever. I personally really enjoy when a show wraps up all its loose ends with a neat little bow because it feels like it’s a chapter closed and I can move on. Don’t Come Home has no end, except for, of course, the cops who have encountered a somewhat unbelievable case. The show gives us most of the answers in the first half, specifically when we watch the 4th episode, titled Panida, Varee’s mother’s name. But with that said,...
