The Peabody Awards revealed their 2025 honorees this morning, and the winner’s list included some expected titles and a surprise omission or two. “Shogun” and “Baby Reindeer” were a given; Julio Torres’ “Fantasmas” was not. Then again, the recent Peabody Awards committee also recognized the superior “Los Espookys,” so perhaps Torres has a fan or two among the voters.

Other Entertainment winners included PBS’ “Mr Bates vs The Post Office,” Steven Zaillian’s “Ripley,” FX’s “Say Nothing,” and Peacock’s “We Are Lady Parts.”

Entertainment nominees that didn’t make the final cut included (shockingly) the third season of “Hacks,” “Ramy Youssef: More Feelings,” “Alex Edelman: Just For Us,” and, in a “whew, cause it was bad,” the FX limited series “Clipped.”

Ramy Youssef is back on television, and he's not steering clear of controversial subject matter. The acclaimed creator and star of Hulu's Ramy is getting a bit more, uh, animated in his next outing, via the comedy #1 Happy Family USA for Prime Video. Ali Wong won the 2025 Golden Globe for best performance in stand-up comedy on television on Sunday.

Her win came for Ali Wong: Single Lady, her fourth Netflix special, about post-divorce life. In her acceptance speech, Wong recalled the small San Francisco comedy clubs where she got her start as a stand-up comic.

“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all the stage time that I got there and all the practice I got to become a stand up comedian. So I really want to thank Molly Schminke from the San Francisco Comedy Club. And yea, my best friend is here, Mia (Serafino). Thank you so much for all of your love and support throughout the years, and this means a lot. Thank you so much,” Wong told the Golden Globes audience.

Nvidia founder Jensen Huang and Adobe were two of the big winners of the 76th Engineering, Science and Technology Emmys. While Huang was the recipient of the Charles F. Jenkins Lifetime Achievement Award, Adobe will be receiving both the Philo T. Farnsworth Corporate Achievement Award and an Emmy for its Substance Painter product. The ceremony will be held on Oct. 23.

The Charles F. Jenkins Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded to an individual whose contributions have significantly affected the state of television technology and engineering. Huang was awarded the honor due to Nvidia, a company he founded and where he has served as president, chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors over the course of his career. Nvidia was the company behind the Gpu (graphics processing unit) in 1999, which sparked the growth of the modern PC gaming market, forever changed computer graphics and led to the modern era of AI.

Netflix and Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe-winning writer, director, comedian and actor Ramy Youssef are teaming up. Youssef has signed a first-look deal with the streamer in which he will develop and create serialized projects through his production company Cairo Cowboy.

Netflix’s first collaboration with Youssef was as exec producer of the critically acclaimed series Mo that he co-created with Mo Amer. The series has received numerous awards, including a Peabody, Gotham Award, TV Academy Honors, and an AFI Awards Honoree. Mo is in post-production on its second season right now which will bring the story to a close.

Netflix’s next collaboration with Youssef will be as co-creator and executive producer of the scripted comedy series Golf, in which he will also play a role.

He’s set to make his Saturday Night Live hosting debut this weekend, but Ramy Youssef took a break from the show’s marathon week-long production cycle Wednesday night to work out parts of his monologue at New York’s Comedy Cellar.

It’s not unusual for comics appearing on SNL and other shows to drop in at the Cellar to test out material. Youssef himself has a long history with the Greenwich Village institution, having performed there many times over the years.

No word yet on what Youssef’s SNL set will include, but in his new Max comedy special, Ramy Youssef: More Feelings, the comic tackles a number of controversail subjects including religion, the upcoming presidential election and the Israel-Hamas War.

Ramy Youssef recently opened up about his experience directing the “Honeydew” episode of The Bear season two, which saw Lionel Boyce’s Marcus journey to Copenhagen to create three items for The Bear’s dessert menu.

The Poor Things star stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! and explained that while helming the episode, he and Boyce were able to spend a day working at Noma, which was voted the best restaurant in the world every year from 2010-12 and then again in 2014.

This season has included a slew of hosts — some controversial. While the March 2 episode saw Sydney Sweeney in her hosting debut and musical guest Kacey Musgraves, the women followed Shane Gillis — the comedian who was fired from “SNL” in 2019 due to racist, homophobic, Islamophobic and misogynistic jokes he made on his podcast and other media.

In some ways, it’s been a pretty great 12 months for Ramy Youssef. Last spring he won his first Peabody Award as the co-creator and executive producer of Netflix‘s “Mo” and this winter he could be found on the big screen alongside Emma Stone in the global box office hit and Oscar-nominated “Poor Things.” As an Egyptian-American, however, he’s been vocal about his frustration with the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and, it appears that may partially be the subject matter of his new HBO comedy special, “Ramy Youssef: More Feelings” which dropped its first trailer today.
