The best air fryer movie of 2024

Is Air Fryer Slaughter a masterpiece? Nope. Is it the exact kind of dumb fun that I enjoy the hell out of? Yep. It's full of tons of familiar faces (if you watch a lot of low budget indie horror) and a lot of legitimately laugh out loud moments. Seriously, this movie is a veritable "who's who" of indie horror actors including: Jessa Flux, Mel Heflin, Clint Beaver, Rudy Ledbetter, Jamie Morgan, Claire Bacon, even Lloyd Flippin Kaufman! It's a shot on video slasher (SOV... in 2024!) It's a great party film. So have some herbal refreshments, turn off your brain, and have a good time. I highly recommend this if you like self-aware, so bad they're good movies 8/10 Meathooks.

    A gloriously enjoyable shot-on-video throwback

After being brought to life, a sentient air fryer moves through the community taking out a series of random victims figuring it to be just a regular object, and as the bloodsoaked trail brings the authorities onto its trail forces it into ever more dangerous tactics to stay alive.

Overall, this proved to be a stellar shot-on-video throwback feature. One of the main selling points here is the fantastic and highly entertaining storyline that lets everything play out in a series manner but still manages to go for a comedically goofy spin. Taking the concept of the killer animatronic device that goes on a ravenous criminal spree with any opportunity it comes across is a fantastic touch as it allows the film to move along from set piece to set piece while maintaining the illusion of a storyline by having the various victims take up temporary ownership of the device only to then meet a vicious, violent demise. That might result in a repetitive storyline involving each new group of victims stumbling upon the specific device but it's still solid enough at providing the kind of intriguing setup as the influence of the device, it's hilarious sense of humor doling out one-liners during the ambush, and keeping a great aesthetic moving through endless cameos to signal every kind of switch to the next victim. That allows for a great series of silly sequences featuring the randomized deaths that take place with each of the selected victims. The series of deaths featured here with the type of ridiculousness of a sentient, ambulatory air fryer going around slaughtering a series of random victims who just happened to come across the being moving around the county. From snapping off limbs, biting through the skin into the meat below, stabbing, and much more that goes on here, there's such an over-the-top display of carnage here that's ably enhanced by the grainy video production which is a part of the simplistic storyline involving the homage to the original shot-on-video movement. It's all obviously done on the cheap and looks flimsy as a result which isn't a detriment but could easily be a personal preference much like the low-brow sense of humor that resonates as comedy. However, that factor is really all that holds it down instead of genuine issues throughout it.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language, Nudity, and drug use.

A fun mix of horror and humor.

Matthew Mark Hunter's Air Fryer Slaughter is a fun indie horror film that pays homage to the low budget horror films of the 1980s. The movie mixes horror and humor into one fun flick!

Air Fryer Slaughter was shot on video, which is something you don't see that often anymore. For being shot on video, the film looks and sounds good. Practical special effects were used instead computer generated effects.

Air Fryer Slaughter boasts an impressive cast. It features a who's who of the current indie horror scene including; Mel Hefflin, Angel Nichole Bradford, Jessa Flux, and many more familiar faces and voices from the current indie horror scene. Even the legendary Lloyd Kauffman has a role in the movie, the whose responsible for so many great films. Let's not forget Matt Skinner. He did a great voicing the air fryer and delivered many humorous one liners.

Be sure and checkout Air Fryer Slaughter. It's a lot of fun.

GREATEST KILLER AIR FRYER MOVIE OF ALL TIME

If you're a fan of offbeat horror comedies with a nostalgic nod to the 80s, Air Fryer Slaughter is a must-watch. This Shot on Video (SOV) schlock fest captures the essence of the best Troma movies while boasting its own unique flair, not to mention a special appearance by Troma legend Lloyd Kaufman.

Directed by the incredibly talented Matthew Mark Hunter, this film is a love letter to the SOV era, and it succeeds spectacularly. Hunter's script is packed with laugh-out-loud moments, absurdly clever gags, and a steady stream of ridiculous one-liners that will keep you entertained from start to finish. His direction, coupled with Ron George's impressive practical effects, brings an irresistible charm to the table.

One of the major triumphs of Air Fryer Slaughter is its technical execution. Unlike many indie horror films plagued by inconsistent sound levels or murky lighting, this movie gets it right. The sound is crisp, so you won't be fiddling with the volume, and the dialogue is clear and easy to follow. The lighting is spot-on, ensuring you won't miss any of the action. These aspects might seem like basic necessities, but they can make or break a viewing experience, and Hunter's attention to detail in these areas is commendable.

The film's SOV aesthetic- actually shot on video rather than with a digital filter-gives it an authentic and nostalgic look that perfectly complements its over-the-top premise. And speaking of the premise, Air Fryer Slaughter delivers exactly what it promises: a killer air fryer wreaking havoc with a slew of over-the-top kills and gratuitous nudity. It's a wild ride that never slows down, making sure you stay engaged with its constant flow of outrageous moments.

What's particularly exciting about this film is its international cast and the impressive array of indie horror actors from around the globe. It's like a horror fan's dream team, and seeing so many familiar faces adds an extra layer of fun. The movie is crammed with remote roles and cameos, making it a veritable who's who of indie horror talent.

Air Fryer Slaughter is a rollicking celebration of indie horror and 80s nostalgia. It's a film that doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's exactly what makes it so enjoyable. Don't forget to stick around until the very end for a surprise that's as satisfying as a Marvel post-credit scene. If you love offbeat horror comedies with a healthy dose of silliness, this movie will not disappoint.

    Air Fryer Slaughter (2024)

Drink of Choice: Florida Stole My Parents IPA

You may not know this about me, but I enjoy me some schlock. I'll take a low budget flick, over Hereditary any day of the week. If the previous sentence upset you than maybe this review isn't for you. Possibly, fun isn't for you either.

I kid, I kid. Don't no one get all wound up by what I've just said. There is a world where both of these artforms can exist, and thanks to MMH productions we have another film to add to the former. The aforementioned Air Fryer Slaughter brings me back to the days of renting DTV Troma from blockbuster for 99 cents.

Matthew Mark Hunter has honestly crafted something that needs to be appreciated. This movie had like, a 7 month production time. Like from concept to release. The fact that we have a coherent film at all is no small miracle, but we got more than that. We got one of the funniest, gore filled pieces of schlock that has plenty of heart behind it, that I honestly haven't seen in probably 20 years.

Anyone can make a movie, but it takes something special to craft something that will stand the test of time, and become one of those films that random horror geeks will discover through message boards, and word of mouth. I honestly feel Air Fryer Slaughter has the potential to be just that.

From the random rap segment, to the gratuitous genital mutilation (all done practically, and they spare no details) to the fact that it's shot on video! This movie pulls no punches. It's The Redneck Zombies of this generation. It encompasses the humour profile of a 14yo edge lord, and runs with it. Anyone who grew up on Troma... like actual Troma, will feel right at home with this.

All of the indie actors are killing it, but special shoutout to Matt Skinner who nails it as the Killer Air Fryer. Like a back alley Freddy Kreuger, he pulls so many quotable one liners that border on offensive. Delivering them with an over the top flare, that seals the deal, and cements this movie as the hidden gem I hope it becomes.

Do I have complaints? Yes. One actually. It's too long. Had this been a magical 70ish mins, it would have been perfection. The weird thing though? I don't know what I'd want cut. I'd hate to see anything go, but as a whole it's definitely a bit much for non schlock die hards to sit through. That's literally the only thing I take issue with. Everything else is micro budget gold.

4 outta 5! I visibly flinched more than once. The movie literally just released independently through MMH Productions so if you love schlock than I highly recommend you go and purchase yourself a physical copy. Support this group, cause they're doing the work other studios stopped a long time ago.
