Roughly 35 years late, Jean-Claude Van Damme martial arts movie Kickboxer is getting a videogame from some former Call Of Duty developers.
One of the movies that helped turn Jean-Claude Van Damme from a muscle-bound wannabe to a global action star, 1989’s Kickboxer is getting a belated videogame adaptation.
The game is in early development at a new studio based in Los Angeles. Called Force Multiplier Studios, it was founded by a team of veteran designers whose previous work includes Call of Duty, Borderlands, and – perhaps most significantly, given the team’s debut – Mortal Kombat.
Kickboxer: the game will, according to some comments from the studio published by IGN, “combine the rich narrative of Kickboxer with kinetic martial arts action to deliver an intense, high-octane brawler, and feature iconic characters and locations from the franchise originally starring martial arts icon Jean-Claude Van Damme.”

Eight and a half years ago, Dimitri Logothetis rebooted the Kickboxer franchise by writing and producing Kickboxer: Vengeance, in which Alain Moussi took over the role of Kurt Sloane, the character played by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the original Kickboxer back in 1989, and Van Damme played his martial arts trainer Master Durand. That film was quickly followed by Kickboxer: Retaliation, which Logothetis directed himself. Seven years have passed since the release of that movie, and this entire time we’ve been waiting to hear when Logothetis was going to get the trilogy capper Kickboxer: Armageddon into production. Now, it looks like it’s finally about to happen. The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Kickboxer: Armageddon has secured a U.S. and Canada distribution deal with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and is expected to start filming in the spring.

Action movie icon Jean-Claude Van Damme returns to one of his best-loved franchises in Kickboxer reboot sequel, Kickboxer: Armageddon, and we now have some idea regarding the release of what's sure to be another martial arts B-movie masterpiece. Kickboxer: Armageddon will find Van Damme joining forces with fellow action heroes Scott Adkins, Alain Moussi, and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum star and martial arts icon Mark Dacascos, it has now been confirmed, with the action outing having now been picked up for distribution by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment in the U.S. and Canada.
Disappointingly, Kickboxer: Armageddon does not yet have a release date, but now that distribution has been settled, those details will surely be revealed soon. Filmmaker Dimitri Logothetis, who first began breathing new life into the cult classic action franchise with 2016’s Kickboxer: Vengeance, will once again take the helm for Kickboxer: Armageddon, working from a script he co-wrote with Jim McGrath.

The Killer's Game includes a recognizable cast of characters from notable action movies around star Dave Bautista. The Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran spent years working to get the 2024 action movie off the ground. Directed by J.J. Perry, Bautista's The Killer's Game focuses on an assassin who orders a hit on himself after a terminal illness diagnosis, but he is then forced to fight for his survival after he discovers he was misdiagnosed.
From the moment the movie begins until The Killer's Game's ending, the movie is built around Bautista in the lead role and his character's new romantic relationship. Along the way, the movie introduces multiple characters from the assassin underworld that Joe Flood has been part of for 20 years. The Killer's Game cast some significant stars to play these various roles, whether they were ultimately allies or foes for Bautista's hero.

Adkins, a martial arts legend, is praised by the director for his unique action style. The Kickboxer return has been praised for skilled fight choreography and exciting action sequences.
John Wick: Chapter 4 star Scott Adkins will continue to ply his trade as he joins the upcoming Kickboxer reboot, Kickboxer: Armaggedon. According to THR, Adkins, who has long been the best kept secret in martial arts and action cinema thanks to the likes of the Undisputed series, Avengement, and Accident Man, has now joined the final chapter in the Kickboxer reboot trilogy.
Based on the 1980s action franchise which began way, way back in 1989 with the first Kickboxer. Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Kurt Sloane a young man out for revenge, the Kickboxer franchise is now made up of several sequels starring different action movie leads.

The success of the John Wick franchise has sparked a resurgence of interest in martial arts movies, creating an opportunity for a reboot of the Kickboxer franchise. The new wave of martial arts films may struggle to find young stars with the necessary skills, but a big-budget Kickboxer reboot has better chances than ever before. Kickboxer is an ideal candidate for a reboot as it already has existing recognition, and audiences would be open to a fresh take on the franchise without being overly attached to the original. A well-executed reinvention could be the perfect successor to John Wick.
With John Wick reigniting interest in the martial arts genre, one 80s action franchise is primed for a reboot. Much like its titular assassin, the John Wick franchise has shown itself to be a force of nature. Starting in 2013 with a modestly-budget first outing, the property has since blossomed into one...

As the big-budget projects get delayed and studios attempt to secure a deal with the Writers’ Guild of America, some of the smaller films that work outside of the studio system hope to use their grassroots status as an advantage during these times. Kevin Smith recently announced that his production, The 4:30 Movie, was approved to film with a waiver, and his movie is intended to start its principal photography later this month. Now, the director of the Kickboxer reboot is now preparing for his next two projects, hoping to get a waiver to allow his film to proceed.
According to Deadline, Dimitri Logothetis, the director of Kickboxer: Vengeance and Kickboxer: Retaliation, is planning for the shooting of the conclusion to his trilogy with Kickboxer: Armageddon. The film is set to star Alain Moussi, who took over for the part of Kurt Sloane, previously occupied by action legend, Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Exclusive: Veteran action director Dimitri Logothetis is gearing up to shoot his latest set of features, Kickboxer: Armageddon and Flying Shadow, in Mississippi and Malta.
Scripts for both were written prior to the start of the strikes, and each project is currently in pursuit of a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement, the goal being to kick off production for each in January.
Armageddon is the final chapter in a reboot trilogy based on the Kickboxer action franchise, which originally starred Jean-Claude Van Damme. The first film directed by Mark Disalle and David Worth, which debuted in 1989, introduced viewers to Kurt Sloane (Van Damme), who must learn the ancient kickboxing art of Muay Thai in order to avenge his brother. If you grew up in the 80s and 90s and watched action movies, you knew your musclemen. You had your Schwarzeneggers and Stallones. You had your Lundgrens and Van Dammes. Right out of the gate, when Jean-Claude Van Damme graced the big screen, he was magnetic. For one, he had the name people will endlessly make “Damn!” puns with. For another, he was a likable and charming actor. And for everything, he had the muscles, the looks, and the moves. Van Damme would find his calling to be reflective later in his career. He would play a Muay Thai teacher in the Kickboxer remake, Kickboxer: Vengeance, when he was the student in the original. And he would also play meta versions of himself in projects such as Jcvd and Prime Video’s Jean-Claude Van Johnson.

Luke and Lauren are having marital issues. But that doesn’t mean she’s thrilled when Jackie starts hitting on her and when she mocks him, hitting her. This leads to a beating which in turn leads to Jackie’s death.
That would be bad enough, but Jackie’s grandfather Michael is a wealthy CEO with some rather shady connections. When they’re acquitted by reason of self-defense he puts a million-dollar contract on the couple.

Photo: ‘Jiu Jitsu’/Netflix Shoot For The Comets New to Netflix this past weekend is the sci-fi comic book adaptation ‘Jiu Jitsu’ starring Alain Moussi, Frank Grillo, Nicolas Cage, JuJu Chan, and Tony Jaa. The film is directed by Dimitri Logothetis, the filmmaker behind Kickboxer: Vengeance, who also penned the comic the film is based on with co-writer Jim McGrath. The film follows Jake Barnes, played by Moussi, as he goes toe-to-toe with an alien warrior that arrives every six-years when a comet passes over Earth to challenge the human Jiu Jitsu warriors to battle. This film is very ambitious in its production, specifically with its camera and stunt work — unfortunately, when shooting for the stars the film doesn’t always make it. The film has some nuggets of good ideas and potential but overall, has too many aspects that needed improvement for me to be satisfied. Related article: A...

Hall broke out as high school brainiac Brian Johnson in the 1985 classic “The Breakfast Club,” which focused on five students serving high school detention on a Saturday. “The Class” involves a diverse group of six high school seniors forced to show up on a Saturday to retake an exam they either failed or missed in order to graduate.

Are you ready to learn about alien politics? Following the recent release of the life-changing poster last week, the first trailer for the Nicolas Cage sci-fi actioner Jiu Jitsu has now been released. No doubt bringing tears to your eyes, the trailer gives us our first glimpse at Cage and his cadre of martial arts warriors throwing down against extraterrestrial invaders, which the Face/Off star describes gloriously as "a poet-warrior in the sci-fi sense."

Gaze in awe at the first poster for the upcoming action fantasy movie, Jiu Jitsu, has now been released to thunderous applause. Starring Nicolas Cage, Alain Moussi, Frank Grillo, Juju Chan, and Tony Jaa, the poster, that looks like a shameless throwback to the 1990s, features its principal cast in various battle-ready poses against a neon-blue background and gives away very little about the movie itself.

I don't know about you but this here genre fan just can't seem to get enough Nicolas Cage. Not that the actor isn't trying my patience with a new low-budget movie coming out every week. But it's all good as the Oscar winner always ends up pulling out a surprise treat such as last year's one-two punch of Mandy and Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse. And it looks like Cage has his next cult classic in the works as today we have word he has joined the cast of Dimitri Logothetis' alien invasion, martial arts movie Jiu Jitsu.
If the quick rundown of "alien invasion, martial arts movie" wasn't enough for you, the plot goes a little something like this.

He was one of the most ruthless, feared and notorious criminals ever to come out of the Chicago Outfit: Anthony ‘Tony the Ant’ Spilotro. Now, Roland Joffé and Chicagoan Nicholas Celozzi, who is the grand nephew of the late mob boss Sam Giancana and thought of Spilotro as his second father, are bringing Celozzi’s personal story with the mobster to the big screen. The film, The Legitimate Wiseguy, will be directed by Joffé, who was nominated for two Oscars for his brilliant work in the 1980s with The Mission and The Killing Fields.
The film is being described as a contemporary Bronx Tale and was scripted by Celozzi and James McGrath.
Monaco Films, founded by Celozzi and partner Michael Sportelli, will co-produce with financier/developer John Vojtech. The producers will start casting for the film’s three main lead roles — Spilotro, Celozzi and Celozzi, Sr.

Roland Joffe will direct the independent mobster drama “The Legitimate Wiseguy,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Joffe received Academy Award nominations for best director for “The Killing Fields” and “The Mission,” which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1986. He also helmed “The Scarlet Letter,” “The Forgiven,” “City of Joy,” “Time Traveller,” and “There Be Dragons.”
“The Legitimate Wiseguy” is based on the true coming-of-age story of veteran writer/producer Nicholas Celozzi, and centers on his relationship with Tony Spilotro, a mob enforcer who was the inspiration behind Joe Pesci’s character of Nicholas “Nicky” Santoro in Martin Scorsese’s 1995 film “Casino.” Spilotro was murdered in 1986.
“Though Tony and I had a father-son relationship, I was playing checkers while he was playing chess,” Celozzi said. “He was always many moves ahead of me.”

One year after the events of Kickboxer: Vengeance, Kurt Sloan has vowed never to return to Thailand. But while he is preparing for an Mma title shot, he is drugged and wakes up in a Thai prison. His captors want him to face a colossus named Mongkut – in return, Sloan will get $2million dollars and his freedom. If he doesn’t fight, his wife will die. So Sloan has no other choice but to undergo his most rigorous training yet, under some very unexpected mentors, in order to take on this dreaded opponent.
Given the affable reception afforded the previous film, a loose remake of the 1989 original, it comes as no surprise that a sequel was in order.

Christopher Lambert chats to us about Kickboxer: Retaliation, Fortress, Highlander and a whole lot more...
When faced with writing an introduction to Christopher Lambert's work, it transpires that even when you try to resist making puns, it's borderline impossible not to make a reference to there being only one of him. Indeed, such is the enduring legacy of Highlander and his performance in it, that it's what many of us think of first when hearing his name.
The beauty of his career though, is that it encompasses so many films that are beloved by audiences worldwide – he's had mainstream hits, movies that have become major cult classics and accumulated accolades in independent French cinema.
We were fortunate enough to get some time with him as Kickboxer: Retaliation breaks its way onto DVD and Blu-ray on the 5th March, the second film in the newly rebooted trilogy. The first,...

The first trailer has been released for Kickboxer: Retaliation, which is a sequel to Kickboxer: Vengeance. If you enjoy these kinds of low-budget action films, this one actually looks like it might be worth checking out. If you don't enjoy these kinds of movies, then it's probably not going to look very good to you. It features Mike Tyson and Jean-Claude Van Damme training a fighter, who is forced to battle a 6'8" 400 lbs monster. Here's the synopsis:

Well Go USA has released the first trailer and poster for the highly-anticipated sequel Kickboxer Retaliation, a follow-up to 2016's Kickboxer: Vengeance. The studio announced this sequel back in February 2016, months before the first film was released, with a Kickboxer: Retaliation poster that revealed the primary antagonist will be played by Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, best known as The Mountain on Game of Thrones. As you can see in the trailer, this behemoth puts his strength on display in rather brutal ways.
One year after finding vengeance for his murdered brother, Mma champion Kurt Sloane (Alain Moussi) finds himself back in Thailand kidnapped and imprisoned there by a powerful gangster (Christopher Lambert). His only shot at freedom is to win an underground death match against a 400lb killer enhanced with state of the art drugs (Game of Thrones star Hafthor Julius Bjornsson). To make it out alive, he seeks training unlike anything he's ever endured,...

"The strongest man doesn't always win, but the smartest one does." Well Go USA has released the official trailer for the action film Kickboxer: Retaliation, which is the sequel to the Kickboxer remake film titled Kickboxer: Vengeance from 2016. Was it actually good enough to warrant a sequel? Either way, the sequel is done and is in theaters this month. Kickboxer: Retaliation has another fairly impressive cast: Alain Moussi, Christopher Lambert, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sara Malakul Lane, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, Sam Medina, and Mike Tyson. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 star Dave Bautista has signed on to star alongside Sylvester Stallone in this follow-up to the 2013 action-thriller Escape Plan, which starred Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Alain Moussi is a very happy man. When we spoke to him on the phone to talk about the home release of Kickboxer: Vengeance his enthusiasm and passion for the film and all things action movie related were in abundance and rightly so. Moussi has been working in stunts for years, doubling for the likes of Henry Cavill, Aaron Eckhart and recently Hugh Jackman in this year’s X-Men: Apocalypse, but Kickboxer has given him not only the chance to play his first lead role, but to act alongside several of his childhood heroes. There’s also the benefit that two sequels have already been greenlit and are under production already, so here’s hoping Moussi’s first franchise shines a light on his burgeoning talent.
