The Casteel Series from V.C. Andrews comes to an end on Saturday, August 24.
If you've been following along, you know that in all four movies that preceded Web of Dreams airing this Saturday, was the presence of Leigh VanVoreen, Heaven's mother, and grandmother to Annie.
We had a chance to catch up with Jennifer Laporte, who brings Leigh to life in Web of Dreams. She's read the books and watched the movies, so you don't want to miss this conversation with the young woman who plays the girl that started it all.
So What was your knowledge of V.C. Andrews and the Casteel family dramas before you got involved with Web of Dreams?
My knowledge of V.C. Andrews was just a little limited to Flowers in the Attic, of course. I think that's the novel and film that most people are most aware of when it comes to V.

Yes, “Melrose Place” alum Daphne Zuniga is well aware that “Beverly Hills, 90210” fans are psyched that Fox has brought back the beloved ’90s teen soap for meta-revival “BH90210.” And, yes, she’d be down to reprise the role of Jo Reynolds, the character she played on the network’s “90210” spinoff, for a return of “Melrose Place.”
But first she wants to see how this six-episode series goes for Shannen Doherty, Gabrielle Carteris, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering and Tori Spelling.
“I would be totally open to doing it,” Zuniga told TheWrap in the interview above. “But, you know, we’re gonna watch [‘BH90210’]. I’m gonna watch tonight and we’ll see how it goes. I think the setup is really interesting that they’re playing their characters wanting to do a revival. So I don’t know that we would do that same thing,...

With the release of Arrow Video’s The Annihilators, read film historian and author Chris Poggiali’s introduction into New World Pictures – Roger Corman’s now legendary cult movie production company that brought it to life….
When Roger Corman cut the ribbon on New World Pictures in May of 1970, he was in the right place at the right time with the right idea in mind for his latest business venture: a production and distribution company that would provide a training ground for young filmmakers eager to get into the business. Less than a year after the release of Easy Rider, every studio in town was trying to duplicate its success by seeking out independent filmmakers with an eye on the youth market and all things counterculture. This was the height of the New Hollywood era, which Corman himself had helped usher in with his trailblazing 1966 smash The Wild Angels. Mostly known as a producer-director,...

Netflix has really stepped up the horror game over the past few years producing such neo hits as Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House and Suzanne Bier's adaptation of Josh Mallerman's Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock. And today we have the trailer and poster for their new possible hit The Silence starring Stanley Tucci and Kiernan Shipka. The film comes to us from director John R. Leonetti, who is perhaps best known for helming the original Annabelle flick along with the PG-13 teen horror movie Wish Upon starring Joey King, and let's not let him forget, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation starring Robin Shou and James Remar.
The Silence begins when the world is attacked by a flock of terrifying creatures who hunt their human prey by sound, which sounds like, you know, bats to me. Anyhow, when these bat monsters attack the world, 16-year...

Eighteen years ago, Julia Roberts took home the Best Actress Oscar for “Erin Brockovich” (2000). Among the people she beat? Laura Linney, who earned her first nomination with “You Can Count on Me.” And now, a full person-who-can-vote years later, the two are poised to face off again at the Emmys for Best Drama Actress.
Roberts is competing with her Amazon series “Homecoming” and Linney is Netflix’s hopeful for “Ozark.” In our early odds, both are predicted to make the lineup, with Linney in second place and Roberts in third.
Roberts may have gotten the better of Linney at the Oscars — ain’t nobody was hijacking Roberts’ coronation that year — but it’s a totally different ballgame at the Emmys. That’s because Laura Linney is a goddamn Emmy queen. She possesses a nearly perfect 4/5 record; she has three Best Limited Series/TV Movie Actress statuettes and one for Best Comedy Guest Actress.

Today marks the 35th anniversary of Lifetime. It is being celebrated with a marathon of signature original movies from the past two decades, like Flirting with Forty, Homeless to Harvard, Steel Magnolias and The Gabby Douglas Story.
Besides a tribute to the network’s past, the marathon is a nod to its future. Last summer, under new A+E Networks CEO Paul Buccieri, Lifetime made a change in its programming strategy, putting emphasis back on original movies and using them as backdoor pilots over traditional series development.
The network signaled its renewed push in original movies last August when it announced a 2019 slate of 75 films.
“It’s gotten so much higher than that,” said Lifetime veteran Tanya Lopez, Evp, Movies, Limited Series & Original Movie Acquisitions. “I wouldn’t say that we’re doubling that but we’re definitely increasing them.” (The count includes both originals and acquisitions.)

I remember seeing Sleepwalkers as a kid when it first hit HBO, and wondering why I was watching a movie where a cat monster had sex with his mom and tried to suck the lifeforce out of his girlfriend. At the time, I wasn’t quite old enough to appreciate where writer Stephen King and director Mick Garris were going with all of this, but when I popped in Scream Factory’s new Blu-ray release, I was much more tuned in to the movie’s “creature feature meets Flowers in the Attic” vibe.
Sleepwalkers fits right in with the crazy, melodramatic movies that came out of the early ‘90s, like John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness or Tobe Hooper’s The Mangler. What Garris brings to King’s original screenplay (not based on one of his previous stories) is an ability to blend elements of the morose and...

Lifetime movies are usually a lot of fun, and there’s no shame in liking them. From Mother, May I Sleep With Danger (both versions) to the recent adaptation of V.C. Andrews' Flowers in the Attic series to the 2015 surprise Will Ferrell / Kristen Wiig thriller Deadly Adoption, there is no guilt here about these made-for-tv pleasures. So I went into The Bad Seed with popcorn and a glass of wine, ready for all the camp and thrills Lifetime usually delivers. Instead, The Bad Seed can't seem to figure out exactly what it wants to be. …...

After giving us a taste of what’s to come for the cast of American Horror Story: Apocalypse, FX has released a full trailer for the eighth installment of the Ryan Murphy anthology.
As the title of the new installment suggests, it’s the end of the world and now Earth is unlivable. After a plane with Leslie Grossman, Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, and Joan Collins leaves Billy Eichner behind in Santa Monica, it crashes and everyone ends up at a place called Outpost 3 which is headed by a Flowers In The Attic-esque lady of the house played by Sarah Paulson. There are people in hazmat suits, lots of radiation, candlelight, old-timey costumes and a bunch of house rules that, if not followed, will result in Paulson slapping you in the face.
Murphy and the cast have been teasing us with a trail of bizarro conceptual trailers and photos...

With an Oscar, a Tony Award and two Emmy Awards on her mantle, Ellen Burstyn has, over the past half century, been a true awards season favorite. This year, with her turn in HBO’s “The Tale,” Burstyn is poised to add even more recognition to her resume.
The autobiographical film, written and directed by Jennifer Fox, earned rave reviews earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and is scheduled to premiere on HBO on May 26. “The Tale” follows Fox (portrayed by Laura Dern), a professor and documentary filmmaker whose life his rattled after her mother (Burstyn) discovers a story Fox wrote at age 13 about a relationship she had with her running coach (Jason Ritter) and horseback riding instructor (Elizabeth Debicki). The revelation forces Fox to dig deeper into her memories to uncover the truths she has been suppressing for so many years.

When it was announced that Flowers in the Attic was lined up for its UK Blu-ray debut, it occurred to me that I had no real memory of my one and only dip into writer-director Jeffrey Bloom’s adaptation of the controversial, best-selling Virginia (V.C.) Andrews novel – which I guess would have been right back upon its initial release in 1987. Interest to revisit it duly piqued, my anticipation was tempered a tad by the sense that being unable to remember it had surely to be indicative that it wasn’t actually very good. Although it still amuses me that a guy named Bloom wrote and directed a film with Flowers in the title, regrettably my reservations proved well founded. It really is rather awful. There be spoilers ahead!

The Foxworths like to keep things in the family and by “things” — we mean sex. Fans of the hugely-popular “Flowers In the Attic” saga, will get to see their incest-loving clan in the series’ fourth and final installment, “Seeds of Yesterday,” airing this Sunday on Lifetime. In honor of the occasion, TheWrap decided to surprise the star of the made-for-tv movie with a little game of “Who Slept with Whom” during the latest episode of “Drinking With the Stars” at Sofitel Hotel’s Riviera 31 in Los Angeles. Warning: Even die-hard fans would be hard pressed to answer some of these questions.

“Big Time Rush” fans are about to see a whole new side of James Maslow this Sunday as he takes on the lead role of Bart Foxworth in Lifetime’s “Seeds of Yesterday.” According to Maslow, the final installment of V.C. Andrews’ “Flowers in the Attic” saga is going to be a doozy. “There’s a lot of incest that goes on,” Maslow told TheWrap in a new episode of “Drinking With the Stars.” “But if you read the novels… it’s for a reason, given the terrible circumstances that these characters were put in when they were younger, they were trapped and locked in.

The "Flowers In the Attic" saga rages on, as the sordid tales of the Dollanganger family get even more twisted in Lifetime's adaptation of "Seeds of Yesterday." Picking up many years after the explosive events of "If There Be Thorns," which aired last night, the latest installment finds Cathy and Chris reuniting with their three children for one of the most dangerous -- and yes, still incestuous -- get togethers ever. Anthony Konechny picks up the role of Jory Sheffield, Cathy's son with deceased dancer ex Julian, in the third sequel ... a role that required the former fitness competitor to get comfortable in a wheelchair and drop some of his muscle. "In the book, Jory does become paralyzed," Konechny tells toofab's Brian Particelli, without revealing too much about how the tragedy happens. "I was able to get a wheelchair a couple weeks before we started filming, take that out and...

The 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced tonight and if you're like me, the Best Ensemble win for Birdman makes it your new frontrunner for Oscar's Best Picture as it has now won not only with the Producers Guild, but with the Screen Actors Guild. Of course, there is one oddity to this win, while it took home ensemble, Michael Keaton lost Best Actor to Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything), Emma Stone lost Best Supporting Actress to Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) and Edward Norton lost Best Supporting Actor to J.K. Simmons (Whiplash). Apparently Birdman is all about the sum of its parts... I can accept that. The only category I haven't mentioned was Julianne Moore winning Best Actress for Still Alice and perhaps I don't mention that because it's quite simply a joke. Put that performance alongside the likes of Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and can you really tell me...
